Le filtre étant disposé comme représenté , avec le tamis en position verticale , pour l'épuration , les deux ro- binets 3 et 8 sont ouverts , et les deux robinets 5 et 10 sont fermés ;

Filter for the purification of a liquid or gaseous fluid.
The object of the present invention is a filter for the purification of a liquid or gaseous fluid.
The drawing represents, by way of example, a vertical section qxiale of an embodiment of the filter forming the subject of the invention, shown in the position of use.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
1 designates a hollow flange intended to occupy a vertical position, and disposed on the side of the inlet of a liquid or gaseous fluid to be purified; this flange carries in its center a supply pipe 2, which can be closed by a valve 3 and, on its periphery, a purge-evacuatin pipe 4, provided with a shut-off valve 5, the filter being intended to be arranged so that said pipe is at the lower part. The posterior hollow vertical flange 6, disposed on the side of the outlet of the purified fluid, carries in its center a starting tubing 7, which can be closed by a valve 8, and, at its upper part, a tubing 9, provided with a shut-off valve 10 for the supply of compressed air or pressurized steam. The two hollow vertical flanges 1 and 6 are assembled in a sealed manner by screws 11 and a seal 12.
A filter screen, formed of a central diaphragm 13 of permeable material suitable for the chemical conditioning of the fluid to be filtered, clamped between two mesh 14, is held in place by grooves 15 of the flanges 1 and 6. A spring 16, placed in the rear flange 6, on the outlet side, comes to bear, on the one hand, against the vertical interior wall of this flange 6 and, on the other hand, against the screen formed by the diaphragm 13 and the mesh 140
The filter being arranged as shown, with the screen in a vertical position, for purification, the two valves 3 and 8 are open, and the two valves 5 and 10 are closed;
the fluid to be purified arrives through the pipe 2 inside the flange 1 and, then from the vertical position of the casing formed by the flanges 1 and 6, deposited by

gravity and as a result of the slowing down of its speed due to the obstacle-baffle formed by the sieve 13 and 14, some of its impurities in the bottom of this flange 1, then.? passes through the diaphragm 13 and mesh 14, leaving the remainder on the front face of the screen, retained from its impurities; the fluid thus purified then leaves the crankcase through the tubing 7 of the rear flange 6.
Oven the cleaning of the housing formed by the flanges 1 and 6 and of the filter screen constituted by the diaphragm 13 and the mesh 14, the valves 3 and 8 are closed; the purge 4 is opened by means of the valve 5; the tap 10 of the pipe 9 is open, and this pipe is connected to a source of compressed air or pressurized steam; this air or vapor presses against the diaphragm 13 and the lattices 14 and passes through them, dragging back the impurities deposited on this lattice and diaphragm; these impurities fall to the bottom of the flange 1 and are evacuated by the purge-drain 4.
The spring 16 is agitated by the passage of compressed air or pressurized steam and then causes the mesh 14 and diaphragm 13 to vibrate, against which it presses, thus helping to complete their cleaning.
