 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

   La constitution représentée à la figure 8 est particulièrement efficace . Ici, le conduit de refoule- ment 11 débouche concentriquement dans un tuyau exté- rieur 31 placé sur le côté de la tubulure 10 et qui est de plus grand diamètre que ce conduit 11 ; son ex- trémité supérieure se raccorde par un évasement ou une courbure de son bord au tuyau extérieur 31 qui est pro- longé en présentant le même diamètre que le conduit de refoulement 11' .Des trous   2   sont percés tout autour du bord recourbé du tube 11 ee raccordant au conduit 31 et un effet de venturi est produit au-dessus de ces trou;

    It Self-priming centrifugal pump ".

   The present invention relates to a self-priming centrifugal pump comprising a jet pump mounted in the high suction duct above the pump and an air separator disposed on the discharge side.

   In the known pumps of this type, the air separator was inserted in the discharge duct and the jet pump was connected directly to this duct which had to be lowered for this purpose below the level of the pump to always remain full. of water. Since the jet pump was constantly in operation, not -only when switching on, but also during normal operation of the pump, and a considerable part

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 As the total pumped quantity passed through it, there was a constant flow of liquid inside the pump system, causing vortexing and a corresponding loss of force.

   To overcome this drawback, a second jet pump has been fitted in the discharge pipe, below the air separator, operating in the discharge direction of the centrifugal pump and connected to the jet pump of the pipe. suction, this second po, eg jet being traversed by the total quantity of pumped liquid and effectively suppressing the circulation during normal operation, but also causing again a loss of energy due to the throttling. Likewise, a clogging of the nozzle of this second jet pump could also occur in pumps intended for liquids carrying with them large solid foreign bodies, as for example in rock dredge pumps.

   Another drawback of pumps of the last mentioned type is that the entrained stones, which often reached a weight of several kgs, depending on the pump flow rate are thrown violently against the wall of the air separator and damage the latter.

   These difficulties are eliminated in the centrifugal pump according to the invention owing to the fact that the air separator is not directly connected to the discharge duct, but is mounted as a bypass, and that the nozzle of the jet pump is connected to a duct connected to the discharge duct.

   Thanks to this constitution, the suction jet pump is only traversed by the quantity of liquid absolutely necessary for automatic priming when the centrifugal pump is put into operation, so that

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 normal operation also circulation is reduced inside the pump system and foreign solid bodies do not enter the air separator due to the inertia of these bodies in the flow of the discharge pipe. The safety against the passage of such foreign bodies can be further increased by fitting in the communication between the air separator and the discharge duct a strainer serving to retain solid foreign bodies and which is fitted with a scraper which can be actuated from the air. 'outside.

   An additional suction jet pump connected to the discharge side of the pump and which exerts a suction on this discharge side on this discharge side is advantageously interposed in the duct of the jet pump, thereby relieving the thrust bearing of the pump. .

   An exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing.

   Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of a group of centrifugal pumps.

   Figure 2 is a front elevation viewed from the suction side.

   Figure 3 is a corresponding plan.

   Figures 4, 5 and 6 show on a larger scale the first a section of the additional jet pump and the other two respectively a longitudinal section and a transverse section of the communication between the air separator and the duct. of repression.

   Figures 7 and 8 each show on a still larger scale a variant of the communication of the air separator with the delivery duct in vertical section.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   The group of pumps shown in the drawing, which is established for use as a pebble dredge pump, consists of the centrifugal pump P and the electric motor M directly coupled to this pump. The suction duct S rises above the po @ pe and has an air exhaust valve at its top. The stream of liquid sucked in, mixed with pebbles and mud, is discharged through the discharge pipe D.

   In the bypass going to the discharge duct D, the air separator L is placed at such a height that it remains filled with water as well as the pump with the suction duct S always approximately up to 'at the height of the line shown in phantom, so that after a stop the automatic priming is carried out purely and simply by means of the jet pump. The jet pump, the nozzle 2 of which is supplied by a connection duct 1 starting from the bottom of the air separator L and protrudes into the connection elbow of the suction duct S, ensures, when operating , evacuating air from the suction line S and priming, with only a small amount of water passing through the jet pump.

   A second smaller nozzle 4 is inserted into the pipe 1 in front of the nozzle 2 and is connected by a pipe 2 by 6 to the discharge side of the pump. This nozzle forms an additional suction jet pump, as it produces a reduction in pressure on the discharge side of the rotor of the pump and thereby a relief from the thrust ball bearing K of the pump.

   A tubing 10, the mouth of which in the pipe 11 is closed by means of longitudinal grid bars 12, serves to establish communication between the air separator L and the section 11 of the discharge duct D. In order to be able to clear the grid very small pebbles that @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 wedged there, a shaft 13 is supported transversely in the pipe 10 and scraper bars 14 extending over the entire length, which are placed between the grid bars, are fixed to this shaft.

   A hand lever 15 is fixed on the outer end of the shaft 13 which comes out laterally through a stuffing box; this hand lever 15 makes it possible to rotate the shaft and with it the scraper bars, in order to be able to keep the passage of the grid always free as a communication going to the air separator L. In this way, damage of the air separator by entrained pebbles is completely excluded.

   In order to be able to sweep foreign bodies, such as sand and gravel which enter them freely from the pump, sprinkler pipes 1 and 8, which are fed by a high pressure water pipe connection 9, are connected to the sides of the pump. suction side and the discharge side of the pump.

   In the case of pumps for liquids carrying thick constituents, for example mud pumps and cesspool emptying pumps, a more or less fine strainer fitted with a device can be inserted instead of the screen. scraper.

   In some cases, it may also be desirable to take precautions to reduce as much as possible the internal circulation established in the pump system under the action of the jet pump, in order to reduce the loss of energy therein. linked.

     Variants satisfying this condition are shown in Figures 7 and 8.

   In the constitution shown in Figure 7, is connected, in a manner analogous to what has been described above for the air separator L, a lateral pipe 10, which opens laterally into a pipe 21.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

   The delivery duct 11 is passed concentrically through this pipe 21 and, in fact, these two pipes are designed so as to leave between them a narrow annular space and to connect them together by flanges at their ends. inner pipe 11 has on its periphery facing the pipe 10 holes 22 directed obliquely from bottom to top for the separation of the air. However, under the action of the water passing through the discharge pipe in the direction of the arrow, there is at the same time a suction effect in the direction of the dashed line arrow. ration is opposite to that of the jet pump 2, 4 occurring in the direction of the arrow in solid lines, that is to say to the internal circuit and it therefore essentially eliminates this suction effect.

   At the same time, the passage of solid foreign bodies into the air separator is safely prevented.

   The constitution shown in Figure 8 is particularly effective. Here, the delivery duct 11 opens out concentrically into an external pipe 31 placed on the side of the pipe 10 and which is of larger diameter than this duct 11; its upper end is connected by a flaring or a curvature of its edge to the outer pipe 31 which is extended by having the same diameter as the discharge duct 11 '. Holes 2 are drilled all around the curved edge of the pipe 11 ee connecting to the duct 31 and a venturi effect is produced above these holes;

   32 as a result of this constitution in the enlarged part of the delivery duct by the pressurized water passing through it, this venturi effect producing a suction in the direction of the arrow in dashed line Internal circulation is therefore largely suppressed part during normal operation of the

 pump.
