Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

    Il Dispositif destiné à assurer automatiquement la position d'un organe le long d'une trajectoire ".

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 9>

 dants.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 10>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 11>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 12>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 13>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 14>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 16>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 17>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 18>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 19>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 20>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 21>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 22>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 23>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 24>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 25>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 26>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 27>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 30>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 31>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 32>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 33>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 34>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 35>

 conséquence, le solénoïde 206 est, J .'é'Y'::1i les trois solé- noides 2Lcj, . -'..'1 1, ..,..; i, suul a t .¯.¯core désexcité.

    II Device intended to automatically ensure the position of an organ along a trajectory ".

   The present invention relates to an apparatus intended to automatically ensure the position of an organ along a trajectory.

   The object of the invention is essentially a device capable of ensuring the movement of an organ along a path so as to place it at any point chosen from among points in number greater than two, the movement of the organ always being directed from the start in the correct direction towards the chosen location, regardless of the previous location of the organ in its trajectory.

   Other characteristics of the device according to the invention are as follows:

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 - The movement of the component towards any chosen position is always initiated in the correct direction under the action of a non-selective maneuver always identical to itself.

   - The organ ends up reaching the chosen position at a relatively low speed, while being brought at a relatively high speed to an intermediate location which always has a well-defined relationship to the final chosen location.

   - The organ can be moved to points of its trajectory in number greater than two by means of a transmission controlled in such a way that when a desired location or position is selected and the movement is triggered by means of a non-selective maneuver, a new selection is automatically accomplished so that the organ moves in the correct direction to the chosen location, regardless of the previous location of the organ on its trajectory.

   - Finally, the device comprises a member movable in two directions along a path so as to be able to be positioned in a determined location along the latter and comprises a control which, activated by a non-selective maneuver, chooses selectively the correct direction and triggers the movement of the organ in this direction towards said determined location.

   The invention is applicable to any device where it may be necessary to position an organ in a defined location, chosen from among several locations in number greater than two along a path. The following description will be given in the case where the invention is applied to the control of the rotation of two shafts, each of which is capable of moving a separate member along a separate trajectory, these two trajectories come together. - vant in different planes, as is the case of a

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 horizontal boring machine, for example, or even to move an organ along two intersecting trajectories, as is the case with the universal movement of an organ in a plane.

   According to the invention, a positioning device is provided which comprises a primary member movable in two directions along a path and capable of being automatically positioned in a well-determined location along the latter; a secondary organ comprising units in number greater than two, each of which comprises elements which can be adjusted together to determine the said location, and means the movement of which is capable of being triggered by a non-selective operation and comprising a device making it possible to choose automatically and to trigger the movement of said primary member in the correct direction towards the determined location.

   In order to better understand the invention, it will be described with reference to the appended drawing in which:
Fig. 1 represents the diagram of an apparatus designed according to the invention.

   Fig. 2 is the diagram of a variant.

   According to fig. 1, shafts 10 and 11 may be driven in either direction by a transmission which includes a drive shaft 12 driven by any source of motive force not shown, such as an electric motor. , a hydraulic turbo-engine, a steam turbine, etc. The shaft 12 carries a pinion 13 which meshes with a toothed advance wheel 14. The wheel 14 is journaled on a shaft 15 and has on one of its faces a clutch element 16 cooperating with a complementary clutch element. 17. The clutch element 17 is keyed on the shaft 15 and has a groove 18 in which a clutch finger 19 can slide.

   The finger 19 is integral with a piston rod 20 carrying a piston

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

21 sliding in a cylinder 22.

   The rod 20 has a bearing surface 23 of reduced diameter and a nut 24 screwed onto the end opposite to that bearing the finger 19. Two discs 25 and 26 slide on the bearing surface 23 in a cylinder 27, the ends of which include annular stops 28 and 29 against which the discs 25 and 26 bear when the latter are moved apart by the pressure of a fluid constantly admitted between them by means of an orifice 30. It is obvious from the figure that the piston 21 has a useful surface greater than that of the discs 25 and 26 and that thus the admission of fluid to the cylinder 22 to the right of the piston 21 causes the clutch element 17 to engage with the element 16, thereby driving the shaft 15 at a relatively reduced speed.

   The escape of the pressurized fluid instantly allows the discs 25 and 26 to move apart, thus disengaging the wheel 14 from the clutch element 17.

   The pinion 13 engages on the other hand, with another feed wheel 31 mounted on a shaft 32 on which is keyed a clutch element 33. The element 33 can come into engagement with a complementary clutch element 34 provided. on one of the faces of the wheel 31 under the action of a piston 35 sliding in a cylinder 36 and of a neutralization device 37, the operation being exactly similar to that of the clutch 16-17 under the action of the piston 21 and the discs 25,26 in the cylinder 27.

   The shaft 12 is also integral in rotation with a toothed wheel 38 having a diameter substantially greater than that of the pinion 13. The wheel 38 meshes with two toothed wheels 39,40, journaling respectively on the shafts 15 and 32. In addition, the wheel 38 meshes with a wheel 41 pivoting on a shaft whose axis is in the same horizontal plane as that of the shaft 12. The pinion 41 exceeds the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 pinion 38 in the axial direction and meshes with two toothed wheels 42 and 43 also journaling on the shafts 15 e 32 respectively.

   The toothed wheels 39, 42 and 40, 43 have on one of their faces a clutch element 44, 45, 46 and 47. Two-sided couplings 48 and 49 respectively slide on the shafts 15 and 32, capable of being engaged and disengaged, with the corresponding coupling elements on the faces of the wheels 39, 42, 40 and 43 by means of hydraulic piston devices 50 and 51 and of neutralizing devices 52 and 53 , the operation being similar to that of the piston 21 and the discs 25 and 26 with respect to the coupling 17-16.

   It is evident from the above that the shaft 15 can be driven at a relatively slow speed or at a relatively fast speed in one direction, by engaging 17 with 16, or 48 with 44 respectively.

  On the other hand, the shaft 32 can be driven slowly or rapidly in the same direction, respectively by engaging 34 with 33 or 49 with 46. On the other hand, it is obvious that the shaft 15 will be driven. in the reverse direction by engaging 48 with 45, and finally that the shaft 32 will be driven in reverse direction by engaging 49 with 47. The shaft 15 carries a drive sleeve end 54 in which the drive can engage. the square end of the shaft 10, likewise the shaft 32 carries an end piece 55 in which the square end of the shaft 11 engages.

   For convenience of discussion, it will be assumed that shafts 10 and 11 are part of a horizontal column boring machine, that the rotation of shaft 10 by wheel 14 assumes that the spindle or shaft is raised. primary member along the vertical column of the boring machine at a relatively slow feed rate corresponding to the useful stroke of the tool; than the rotation of the shaft 10

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 by the wheel 39 ensures the rise of the spindle at a speed relatively corresponding to an empty stroke; finally, that the rotation of the shaft 10 by the wheel 42 ensures the descent of the spindle at a relatively rapid speed corresponding to an empty stroke.

   In addition, the rotation of the shaft 11 by the wheel 31 ensures the movement to the right of the workpiece holder or the primary member of the bore, at a relatively slow speed or useful stroke (looking from the end opposite the column to this column); the rotation of the shaft 11 by the wheel 40 ensures the movement of the workpiece carrier to the right at a relatively high speed or of displacement when empty; finally, the rotation of the shaft 11 by the wheel 43 ensures the movement of the workpiece holder to the left at a relatively rapid speed when empty.

   It is obvious from what has been said above, that the expression "primary organ" or "primary means" can designate any element which one seeks to position along a trajectory, and that this expression is therefore not limited to a workpiece holder, a tool holder, etc.

   A conventional hydraulic system is provided for sending a fluid such as pressurized oil to the various cylinders, this system comprising an oil source 56 feeding a pump 57 which delivers the pressurized oil in a pipe 58. Bypasses 59, 60, 61, and 62 supply each of the piston neutralizers constantly while pump 57 is in operation. A bypass 63 sends oil under pressure to a valve assembly 64 comprising six identical valves 65 , 66, 67, 68, 69 and 70. These valves are of the differential piston type and are arranged so as to be normally held in the high position, ensuring the exhaust of the pipes 71, 72,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

 73, 7, 75 and 76 to the atmosphere.

   Line 71 conveys pressurized oil to cylinder 22 to the right of piston 21, the left side of which is in communication with the atmosphere since the coupling member 17 can only move in one direction to ensure the clutch.

  Line 72 conveys oil to the left of the piston of device 50 and line 73 conveys oil to the right of the piston. Line 74 admits oil to the end / right of cylinder 36 while lines 75 and 76 respectively admit oil to the left end and right end of piston device 51. Valves 65 to 70 can be brought to their low or active position by solenoids 77 to 82 in - clus. These solenoids are arranged to be energized in a well-defined cycle each time the corresponding primary member needs to be moved to a new location.

   Since each of the primary members driven by the rotation of the shafts 10 and 11 is positioned at different points along the corresponding trajectory by identical mechanisms, only one of them will be described in what follows. Two states can occur: the primary organ can in fact be on one side or the other in relation to any location chosen for it along its trajectory. To eliminate any cause of mechanical imprecision in the positioning of the primary organ, it must always end up moving in the same direction at a relatively slow feed rate from an intermediate location to the end. final location chosen. This intermediate location always has a fixed relation to the chosen final location and is separated from it by a relatively small distance.

   In order to lose as little time as possible during the positioning of the primary organ, it is brought fairly quickly to said inter- location.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 8>

 mediary. In the embodiment described, there arises, when the primary organ is initially on the same side with respect to the chosen location as the intermediate location, a condition requiring the interposition of a secondary displacement of the. primary organ.

   This secondary displacement is to bring the primary organ from its position which, with respect to the chosen location, is opposite the intermediate location, to the correct side, with respect to the chosen location, before 'slowly bring up this one. This secondary displacement can be suppressed as will be seen below.

   A secondary member or detector D comprises a unit 83 corresponding to a given job, at each location to which the primary member has been positioned. The number of units 83 can be as high as desired; twenty or thirty will generally suffice for most jobs in the case of a horizontal boring machine or similar machine. In the described embodiment, each of the units 83 includes a reciprocating, manually adjustable rod 84 which conveniently can be arranged so that an electrical contact surface
86 of this can be blocked with precision in any given position. The units 83 also include a pair of contactors 87, 88 mounted on a support 89, integral with the primary member.

   Each contactor is extremely thin, which allows a large number to be mounted on the support 89 in a confined space. Furthermore, each rod 84 is itself quite thin and does not take up more space than the pair of contactors 87, 88 corresponding to it; thus, the twenty or thirty individually adjustable rods 84 with their contactors 87, 88, are relatively compact. In the embodiment described, only two

 dants.

   The construction and the operation in the case of the control of horizontal and vertical movements being identical, we will only describe the vertical control. Since the support 89 is integral with the primary member, it serves to represent the location of the latter along its path. The rod 84 is, according to the drawing, adjusted so that the primary member is located below the chosen location; rod 84 ', on the other hand, is shown in the case where the primary organ is located above the chosen location.

  Rods 84, $ La. ' are provided with cams or version ramps 90, 90 'integral with one of their sides. These sames are used to actuate the contactors 87, 87 'and it is therefore necessary that the contactors 87, 88 and 87', 88 'are slightly out of alignment, so that the contactors 87, 87' cooperate with the cams 90 , 90 ', and that the contactors 88, 88' cooperate with the surfaces 86, 86 'respectively. The height of cam 90 above surface 86 always remains fixed.

   The support 89 being in position such that the contactor 87 is above the cam 90, when the primary member is lowered, its end 91 actuates the contactor 87 and, when this inversion occurs, it is necessary that the contactor 88 is located at a fairly small distance below the surface 86 of the rod 84, of the order of 4 mm for example. It is this location which, for convenience of the discussion, will be called the location or intermediate point, from which the primary member should always be advanced from the bottom up until the contactor 88 is reversed by the surface. 86, thus stopping the primary organ at the final location chosen for it on its path.

   It is evident from the above that the adjustment of the rod 84 does not only precisely define the final location chosen for the stop.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 10>

 of the primary member (the surface 86), but also the intermediate location (the end 91 of the cam 90).

  On the other hand, it is evident that there is a well-defined relationship between the end 91 and the surface 86. It should be understood that the expression "secondary member" can denote not only one or more adjustable rods. such as 84 with their pair or their pairs of cooperating switches such as 87, 88, but all equivalent devices, be they electro-mechanical, electro-hydraulic, hydraulic, mechanical or electronic.

   Since a relatively large number of units such as 83 are provided in the embodiment of the invention as described, each comprising a rod 84 and a pair of switches 87, 88, there is also provided a tertiary member of the selector S making it possible to choose at the option of the operator only one among the detection units at a time - This selector, in the implementation described, is provided in the form of an electric distributor and comprises a pair of conductive rings 92, 93 cooperating with brushes fixed to a rota.ti- ve bar 96 containing a pair of friction contacts 97, 98.

  The contacts 97, 98 rub against a pair of contacts for each sensor unit such as 83, these pairs of contacts being arranged in a ring around the conductive rings 92, 93. In the illustrated embodiment, a handle is attached to the handle. bar 96 to allow any desired sensor unit to be selected by hand.

  However, one could obviously, according to the invention, provide for the actuation of the selector other than by hand, whether or not this actuation is carried out in an order of succession planned in advance. This control device could be hydraulic, electric or others.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 11>

   After having made the selection of one of the detector units 83, here by manual actuation of the bar 96, a fourth member is actuated following a non-selective maneuver always identical to itself and having the effect of automatically choosing the correct direction and to trigger the movement of the primary organ in this direction so that it begins to move towards the chosen location, whatever its previous position. This member, in the embodiment described, consists of a circuit C which comprises. several relays and by solenoids 77, 78 and 79 for the primary component with vertical movement.

   A 'similar circuit C' in parallel with circuit C is provided for the organ with horizontal movement. To better understand the operation of circuit C of the primary organ with vertical movement, we will first describe it. operation in the case where the primary organ is located below the chosen location, and then in that where this organ is located above the chosen location.

   The primary organ being located below the chosen location defined by the surface 86, pressing the switch button 100 causes the current to flow through a circuit which starts from the ground, passes by the normally closed contact 101 of CR3 and the normally closed contact 102 of CR2, the control relay CR1, a conductor 103, the secondary 104 of a transformer and the ground. A main switch 105 is provided to switch off the entire control and must of course be closed when the appliance is switched on. Excitation of relay CR1 closes normally open contact 106 of CR1, keeping relay CR1 in action after release of button 100.

   It also closes the normally open contact 107 of CR1 which energizes

 <Desc / Clms Page number 12>

 the solenoid 78, moving the valve 66 downwards, so that the pressurized oil passes from the line 63 to the line 72 and then to the left face of the piston of the device 50, engaging the element 48 with the element 44 of the coupling. The wheel 39 then drives the shaft 10 at high speed so that the vertically moving primary member moves upward at the fast return or idle speed.

   This rise continues despite the closing of contactor 87 by cam 90 because at this moment no circuit can be established for contactor 87, contact 108 of CR2 being open. continues until contactor 88 is closed by surface 86, which establishes a circuit from ground, passing through rod 84, contactor 88, conductor 109, contact 97, ring 93, wire 110, contact 111 of CR1 (closed since the control relay CR1 is still energized), the normally closed contact 112 of CR3, the control relay CR2, wire 103, the transformer and the ground.

   The energization of the control relay CR2 opens the contact 102 of CR2, thus de-energizing the control relay CR1, consequently opening the contact 107 of CR1 and consequently opening the contact 107 of CR1 which de-energizes the solenoid. 78, which raises the valve 66, evacuating the cylinder from the device 50 and allowing the neutralizing mechanism 52 to neutralize the coupling 48, interrupting the rise of the primary member with vertical movement.

   On the other hand, the de-energization of the control relay CR1 ensures the opening of the contacts 106 and 111 of CR1. The energization of the control relay CR2 causes the closing of the contact 113 of CR2 to keep the relay CR2 energized after opening. contact 111 of CR1 due to de-energization of relay CR1. A TD2 delay solenoid is normal.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 13>

 only excited by the 115 normally closed contact of
CR2 so that the normally closed contact 116 of the TD2 delay relay is open.

   But when energizing control relay CR2, solenoid TD2 de-energizes, closing contact 116 of TD2 after a pre-set time interval so that solenoid 79 energizes through wire 103, contact 116 of TD2 and the normally closed contact 117 of CR3. The contact 116 of TD2 is provided simply in order to prevent vibrations and noise of the coupling when the element 48 is disengaged from the element 44 and its engagement with element 45.

   The energization of the solenoid 79 drives the valve 67 downwards so that the pressurized oil passes through the line 73 towards the right face of the piston of the device.
50, engaging the element 48 with the wheel 42 and causing the rapid descent of the primary member with vertical movement. This displacement is necessary to ensure the positioning action in the described embodiment, because the primary member was initially on the same side with respect to the chosen location (the surface 86) as the intermediate point, which, for the primary member with vertical displacement is always below this surface 86 and is removed from it by a relatively small distance.

   This intermediate vacuum movement serves to bring the primary member to the appropriate side of the chosen location before bringing it to the final location at the slow speed corresponding to the useful stroke. The primary organ descends at high speed until the contact 87 is closed by the upper edge 91 of the cam 90, establishing a circuit which starts from the mass, passes through the bar 84, the contactor 87, a wire 118, contact 98, ring 92, wire 119, contact 106 of CR2 (closed since the control relay CR2 is energized), contact 120 normally

 <Desc / Clms Page number 14>

 closed from CR4, control relay CR3, wire 103, transformer and ground.

   The energization of the control relay CR3 opens the normally closed contact 117 of CR3, de-energizing the solenoid 79 which allows the valve 67 to rise, thus ensuring the exhaust of the line 73 and the device 50, so that the device 52 ensures the neutralization of the coupling 48 and the stopping of the primary member at the so-called intermediate location from which it must be brought at reduced speed to the final location.

  The energization of the control relay CR3 also closes the contact 121 of CR3 so as to latch the control relay CR3 after the opening of the contact 108 of CR2, when the relay CR2 de-energizes. A TD1 delay relay has normally been energized by the normally closed contact 123 of CR3. The TD1 relay when energized locks the contact 124 of TD1 in the open position but, after a certain delay after opening of the contact 123 of CR3 , TD1 contact 124 closes, energizing solenoid 77 through CR4 normally closed contact 125. The energization of the solenoid 77 drives the valve 65 downwards, allowing the pressurized oil to pass from the line 63 to the line 71 and then to the right of the piston 21, engaging the coupling element. 17 with the toothed wheel 14.

   The shaft 10 is then driven at reduced speed and the primary member rises away from the intermediate location at the reduced speed of the useful stroke which continues until the contactor 88 is of again closed by the contact surface 86 of the rod 84. At this moment, a circuit is established starting from the ground and passing through the bar 84, the contactor 88, the wire 109, the contact 97, the ring 93, wire 110, contact 126 of CR3 (closed since relay CR3

 <Desc / Clms Page number 15>

 is still energized) contact 127 normally closed of CR1, control relay CR4, wire 103, transformer and ground.

   The excitation of CR4 opens the normally closed contact 125 of 124, de-energizing the solenoid 77, and at this time the valve 65 rises, discharging the line 71 and the cylinder 22 so that the coupling element 17 is disengaged. by the cylinder neutralizer device 27, stopping the primary organ at the chosen location.-The activation of the control relay CR4 also closes the normally open contact 128 of CR4, keeping this relay energized until that a subsequent actuation of the circuit C is carried out by pressing the button 100 so as to energize the relay CR1, at which time the contact 127 of the relay CR1 opens, switching off the control relay CR4.

   The rod 84 'is adjusted so that the primary member represented by the support 89, is located above the chosen location, defined by the surface 86' of the bar 84 '. When this state prevails, the contactor 88 'is closed and runs along the edge of the bar 84' while the contactor 87 'is open and is located above the cam 90. In order to position the primary organ in the in position indicated by the adjustment of the bar 84 ', the lever 99 must be actuated so that the bar 96 brings the contacts 97, 98 into contact with the contacts of the contacts.
88 'tor 87', arranged above the rings 92, 93. By pressing the button 100, the control relay CR1 is then energized which is maintained in excitation by the closing of the contact 106 of CR1 as well as it is. saw .

   Contact 111 of CR1 also closes, as does contact 107 of CR1. As the contactor 88 '' is closed, a circuit is established which starts from the ground, passes through the bar 84 'the contactor 88', the wire 128 ', the contact 97, the ring 93, the wire 110, the contact 111 of CR1, contact 112 of CR3, control relay CR2 wire 103, transformer and ground

 <Desc / Clms Page number 16>

 The energization of the relay CR2 opens the contact 129 of CR2 so that the closing of the contact 107 of CR1 does not cause the energization of the solenoid 78. The energization of the control relay CR2 also opens the contact 115 of CR2. , de-energizing the TD2 relay, the contact 116 of which closes, energizing the solenoid 79, which causes the primary member to descend at high speed as seen above.

  This descent continues until the contactor 87 'is closed by the end 91' of the cam 90 'which establishes a circuit starting from the ground, passing through the bar 04', the contactor 87 ', the wire 130 , contact 98, ring 92, wire 119, contact 108 of CR2 (which is closed since control relay CR2 is energized), contact 120 of CR4, relay CR3, wire 103, transformer and the ground The excitation of the control relay CR3 opens the contact 117 of CR3, de-energizing the solenoid 79 which neutralizes the transmission, immobilizing the primary organ at the intermediate location.

   The control relay CR3 also opens the contact 123 of OR 3 'de-energizing the TD1 relay which closes its contact 124, energizing the solenoid 77 and causing the primary organ to rise under the action of the transmission from the bottom up to the slow forward speed as previously indicated. This downward forward movement continues until contactor 88 '(which now sits below surface 86' since the primary member moves downward and upward away from point intermediate) is closed by the contact of the surface 86 '.

   The following circuit is then established: earth, bar 84 ', contactor 88', wire 128 ', contact 97, ring 93, wire 110, contact 126 of CR3, (closed since the control relay CR3 is energized), the contact 127 of CR1, control relay CR4, wire 103, transformer and earth. The activation of the control relay CR4 opens the contact 125 of CR4, de-energizing the solenoid 77

 <Desc / Clms Page number 17>

 and thereby stopping the ascent of the primary organ at the selected location. It also closes contact 128 of CR4 which maintains the circuit of the CR4 control relay until a new selection is made by pressing button 100.

   For the control of the shaft 11, a selector B ′, a detector D ′ and a control circuit C ′ identical to the previous ones are provided. This control circuit C 'uses solenoids 80, 81 and 82 in place of solenoids 77, 78 and 79.

   Fig. 2 shows a positioning apparatus which requires relatively rapid one-way movement of the primary member to its intermediate location, regardless of which side it is originally on relative to the location. final chosen, and when the primary organ is not located between the intermediate and final locations.

   According to fig. 2, a member 210 which can be constituted by a work table, a tool holder or any movable member which must be able to be positioned in a location chosen along a path from among more than two possible locations. , is integral with a rod 211 passing through a cylinder 212 'and to which is fixed a piston 212 sliding in the cylinder. The rod 211 extends beyond the cylinder 212 'and passes through a cylindrical opening made in a block 213 fixed to a support 213' fixed to the fixed cylinder 212 '. A part of the block 213 is released so as to uncover a part of the rod 211. A cap 214 fits into this clearance and frictionally adapts to the rod 211.

   This cap comprises a cup-shaped recess 214 'on each side of the rod 211, each of these recesses being pierced with a hole 214' receiving a rod 215. The head of each rod 215 closes with the recess 214 '.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 18>

 corresponding and the two rods 215 overlap the rod 211, passing through enlarged openings 215 'made in the support 213'.

   A block 216 fixed to the support 213 'is provided with a spherical seat intended to receive a spherical element 216' integral with a part 216 ". The rods 215 pass through lugs of the member 21611 and are fixed thereto by nuts of the material shown. The member 216 "is attached to a piston rod carrying a piston 217 in a cylinder 217 '.

  A screw 218 is provided to limit the angular displacements of the rods 215 to the right of the vertical plane, in the arrangement shown. As a result of the difference between the radii of the ball-and-socket joints, constituted by the member 216 'on the one hand, and the heads of the rods 215 on the other, a slight angular separation of the member 216 " with respect to the vertical ensures a rubbing contact between the cap 214 'and the rod 211. A more notable angular displacement towards one or the other side with respect to the vertical releases the cap 214' from the rubbing contact with the rod 211.

   Screw 218 in cylinder 217 restricts movement of piston 17 to the right to ensure frictional contact between cap 214 and rod 211, while movement of piston to the left of cylinder 217 'drives out the member. 216 'far enough to the left with respect to the vertical to release the cap 214' from the rod 211. The apparatus which has just been described will be called in the following "connecting device" 219.

   The primary member 210 is capable, according to the invention, of being moved in one direction or the other by removing the end of the cylinder 212 'corresponding to the direction of movement desired for the primary member. This requires a hydraulic locking system acting on both sides of the piston 212 liquid pressures.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 19>

 equal.

   It is necessary to be able to move the primary organ at a relatively fast empty speed, which can best be achieved by means of a hydraulic system at low pressure and large volume. However, on the other hand, it is essential to maintain a relatively high pressure on either side of the piston 212 when the primary member is held in a chosen location. Accordingly, a low pressure large volume system and a combined high pressure and small volume system are used.

   An electric motor 220 connected to the lines L1, L2 of the network drives a pump 221 at low pressure and high flow, supplied with liquid by an inlet pipe 222, connected to a source S. The pump 221 is connected to a line of discharge 223 leading to a discharge valve 224 connected to the source S by a pipe 225. On the other hand, a high pressure, low flow pump 226 is supplied with liquid by the source S by means of a pipe 226 '. It delivers the liquid under pressure into an expansion valve 227 set to a well-defined pressure, which in the example described, is about 5.25 kg / cm 2.

   A line 227 'sends the high pressure liquid into the relief valve 224 which is adjusted so that at a well determined pressure of lower value, it has the effect of passing directly all the liquid which it has. reit from 221 to source S via line 225.

   Valves 224 and 227 are connected into the system through shut-off valves 228, 229, preventing the return of liquid through valves 224 and 227 when they are not operating. The pressurized liquid passes through line 230 to a solenoid-controlled valve 231 described later, and is then sent

 <Desc / Clms Page number 20>

 through line 232 to a hand operated valve 233, then through line 234 to the left end of cylinder 212 '.

   The pressurized liquid also passes through line 235 and branch 236 to another solenoid valve 237 described later, and from there through line 238, a ball shut-off valve 239 and line 240, another ball valve. manual control 241 and a conduit 242 to terminate at the right end of cylinder 212 '. The valves 23 and 241 are identical and in practice they are one. Manual control for the admission of liquid under pressure or the escape of liquid from both sides of piston 212 is practically provided by the movement of a control lever in one direction or the other.

   For greater clarity, two identical valves have been shown, and their actuating levers can move in only one direction. As the valves 233 and 241 are identical, the description will be limited to the valve 233. This comprises a valve body 243 in which is formed a chamber 244 receiving a ball shut-off valve 245. The ball d ' stop 245 comprises a rod 246 abutting against the end 247 of a manually operated valve rod 248 and slidable in the valve body 243. With the rod 248 in the position shown, the stop valve 245 is lifted from its seat, allowing the flow of pressurized liquid to cylinder 212 '.

   The anterior part of the rod 248 comprises a cylindrical part 249 which, the rod 248 being in the position shown, constitutes a sealing surface in the bore 250 and the chamfer 250 'of the valve body 243. It also comprises a part conical 251 which, when the rod 248 is retracted from its seat by a distance greater than the length of the cylindrical part 249, ensures the passage of a quantity

 <Desc / Clms Page number 21>

 variable liquid to a chamber 252 whose escape is effected by a port 253. The rod 248 is provided with a head 244, and a spring 255 is interposed between this head and the body 243, recalling the head 254 in contact with an eccentric cam 256.

   A handle 257 is attached to the cam 256 to allow the movements of the rod 248 to be controlled by hand. By moving handle 257 clockwise, rod 248 is moved to the left, allowing shut-off valve 245 to be returned to its seat and then venting the left side of cylinder 212 'to a speed which depends on the position of the rod 248 in the valve body 243. Likewise, by actuating the handle 257 'counterclockwise, the right side of the cylinder is exhausted. 212 '.

   Exhaust from one side of the other of cylinder 212 drives piston 212 and primary member 210 in the direction corresponding to the side of cylinder 212 'which has been vented, provided that the valve bond 219 must be released before this movement. With the apparatus in the position shown, liquid under pressure passes through / line 235 to a valve 258 normally held in the position shown by means of a spring 259. For this position of the valve 258, liquid is admitted. towards the left end of cylinder 217 '; while its right end is open to the exhaust. The piston 217 is thus applied against the screw 218 which keeps the connecting device 219 in action, preventing the movement of the primary member 210.

   A solenoid 260 is provided, the excitation of which drives the plunger 261 of the valve 258 from top to bottom, thus admitting pressurized liquid to the right of the cylinder 217 'and making the left side of this cylinder communicate with the exhaust. - dre. This allows the linkage device to release the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 22>

 rod 211 and to allow the displacement of the primary member 210. One end of the solenoid 260 is connected by a conductor 263 to one end of the secondary of a transformer 264, the other end of the solenoid being connected in parallel to one of the contact elements of the two contactors 265 and 266. The other contact element of each of these two contactors is connected to ground.

   The switches 265 and 266 are normally returned to the closed position, while the apparatus being in the position shown, they are held open by the fingers 267, 268 of the handles 257, 257 '.

   It is evident from the above that by moving handle 257 clockwise and handle 257 'counterclockwise, their respective switches 265 and 266 will be able to close. At this time, current flows from ground through secondary 264, conductor 263, solenoid 260, and contactor 265, 266 to return to ground. In practice, the handles 257 and 257 'are combined so that only one side of the cylinder 212' can be discharged at a time.

   That part of the invention which relates to the automatic positioning of the primary member 210 selectively at several locations along its path, periodically, by the control of admission and exhaust of the pressure liquid in the cylinder 212 ', comprises the cooperation of a detector D, a selector SL and a relay circuit R.

   The detector D comprises several units 269, one for each position of the primary organ along its trajectory, positions at which this organ must be able to be placed. You can provide as many 269 units as you want. Twenty or thirty are usually sufficient for most work to be done on machines such as

 <Desc / Clms Page number 23>

 In the embodiment described, the units 269 include a hand adjustable slide bar 270 sliding in a groove slightly longer than the path of the primary member. The bar 270 comprises a surface 271 intended to actuate electrical contacts and capable of being blocked with precision at any chosen location.

  Unit 269 also includes a latch switch 272 and two auto-return contactors 273 and 274 'Contactor 272 is said to be "latched" because it can be open or closed, remaining either way. from these positions until it is moved to the other position under the action of an external force. The contactors 273 and 274 are said to be "automatic return II" because they remain normally open, and return to their open position when the force which held them closed is removed.

   The contactors 272, 273 and 274 are mounted rigidly at a certain distance from each other on an arm 275 fixed to the movable member 210 and participating in the movement thereof. The arm 275 can therefore serve to represent at any time the location of the primary organ on its trajectory. The contactor 272 'cooperates with surfaces 271 and 276 formed at the end of the bar 270, while the contactors 273 and 274 cooperate with a cam or ramp 277 formed on the side of the bar 270. Accordingly, the contactors 273 and 274 are aligned with each other but slightly offset transversely with respect to contactor 272.

   Each of the contactors 273 and 274 is extremely thin, which allows a very large number to be mounted on the support 275 in a relatively small footprint. Contactor 272 includes a relatively thin body pivoting on

 <Desc / Clms Page number 24>

 an axis 278 and comprising rocker fingers 279 and 280.

  The finger 279 attacks the surface 271 and the finger 280 the surface 276. The arrangement is such that whenever the primary member 210 is to the right of the positioning surface 271, the contactor 272 will always be closed, while when it is to the left of this surface, contactor '272 will always be open.

   Each of the bars 270 is also extremely thin and does not have a bulk greater than that of the contactors 272,273 and 274 which cooperate with it, so that the bulk of 20 to 30 bars 270 individually adjustable with the contactors 272,273 and 274 correspondents, takes up little space. In the embodiment shown, only two bars 270 and 270 ′ have been illustrated with their cooperating contactors. The adjustment position shown for the bar 270 corresponds to the case where the primary member is to the right of the chosen location defined by the surface 271; that of the bar 270 ′ corresponds to the case where the primary organ is to the left of the chosen location.

   Cam 277 is attached to bar 270 such that its end surfaces 281 and 2 1a have a fixed relationship to surface 271. When contactor 274 is closed by engagement with surface 281, contactor 272 will have been opened by the action of its finger 280 on the surface 276 and the primary member will have been immobilized at an intermediate point to the left of the final chosen location and approximately at 0.75 mm. of it. The length of the ramp 277 must be adjusted with great precision so that the contactor 273 remains closed when the primary organ reaches the intermediate location and when the contactor 274 closes under the action of the surface.

   The importance "of" the precision of this relation remains

 <Desc / Clms Page number 25>

 will come out later when describing the automatic operation of the device.

   The number of units 269 which is provided for in the practical implementation of the invention being very large, this number being equal to that of the locations at which it is necessary to be able to position the primary organ 210, the selector or tertiary unit SL intended to activate, at the option of the operator, any of the units 269 desired at a given time. This selector comprises a series of concentric conductive rings 282, 283 and 284 and a series of three sets of contact pads 285, 286 and 287 distributed radially in each set, and each of these sets corresponding to one of the units 269. A Handle 288 can be used, this handle comprising contact elements spacing the rings 282, 283 and 284 with the corresponding contact elements, forming part of the sets 285, 286 and 287.

   However, it should be understood that according to the invention, the selector SL could be controlled by any suitable mechanism rather than by hand, this control taking place or not in a well-defined order of succession. This control device can be electric, hydraulic or other.

   In the phase of automatic operation of the apparatus according to the invention, the primary member 210 is moved in one direction as quickly as possible to the intermediate location from which it moves relatively slowly. until the chosen final amplitude.

  Of course, if the primary organ is situated between the intermediate location and the final location chosen, its displacement up to the latter is done entirely at a relatively low speed. In addition, the intermediate location being always on the same side with respect to the final location, the movement to reach the latter is always done in the same direction. To satisfy

 Re under these conditions, it is therefore necessary to provide means making it possible to move the primary organ rapidly in both directions and slowly in only one.

   The rapid displacement of the primary member to the left is ensured by the de-energization of a normally energized solenoid 289 controlling the valve 231, and thus allowing the spring 290 to return the valve 231 to its open position, evacuating the pipe 232 through the light 290 '. Likewise, the rapid movement of the primary member to the right is effected by de-energizing a normally excited solenoid 291, associated with a valve 292, allowing the valve 292 to open under the action of a spring. 294, discharging the line 240 through a ball stop valve 293 to a lumen 295.

   The rapid movement of the primary organ to the right is caused by the de-energization of a solenoid 296 while the solenoids 289 and 291 remain energized, causing the opening of the valve 237 under the action of a spring 297, and discharging the pipe 238 through the port 298. To control the speed of the slow movement of the member 210, a reducing valve RD is provided which comprises a valve body 299 forming soft chambers 300 and 301 separated by a partition 302. A piston with two heads 303 slides in an opening made in the partition 302, the heads 304 and 305 of the piston being respectively located in the chambers 300 and 301.

   A bypass 306 of the pipe 240 admits liquid into the chamber 301 from which this liquid is taken by a tap 307 which leads it to the chamber 300 on the side of the head 304 closest to the partition 302. The piston 303 is therefore driven to the right against a spring 308, so that the head 305 opens a slot between itself and a seat 309. The liquid from the chamber 301 is sent.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 27>

 in a conventional calibration valve 310.

   To allow the valve 310 to pass precisely calibrated quantities of oil coming from the right side of the cylinder 212 ', in order to ensure, for the slow displacement of the primary member, a well determined constant speed. - born (essential in order to ensure the very high precision required for repeated immobilizations at the same location), this valve must receive the liquid at a substantially constant pressure. Normally, the head 305 forms with the seat 309 a very narrow slot which is sufficient to supply the valve 310 with liquid, and the valve 310 lets the liquid pass at a well-determined calibrated rate, so that the pressure in the chamber 301 remains roughly at the value of 7 kg / cm2.

  If the pressure in chamber 301 drops below 7 kg / cm2, spring 308 pushes piston 303 to the left, increasing flow. If the pressure in chamber 301 increases beyond 7 kg / cm2 the head 304 moves to the right, decreasing the oil flow to chamber 301.

   When the selection of one of the detector units 269 has been carried out by manually actuating the lever 288 in the embodiment described, a fourth member is actuated by a non-selective maneuver, the effect of which is identical to that of. each time it takes place, and which results in automatically choosing the correct direction and initiating the movement of the primary organ in that direction, so that this organ moves in only one direction from the beginning to the intermediate location regardless of its previous position. This fourth member is in the embodiment described by a relay circuit R.
 EMI27.1

  To make it easier to understand, we will describe how it works, firstly in the case where the organ

 <Desc / Clms Page number 28>

 primary 210 is initially to the right of the final chosen location determined by surface 271, and then in the case ± where primary organ 210 is initially to the left of the final location: chosen, then defined by the surface 271 '.

   Closing switch 311 energizes motor 220, starting pumps 221 and 226. It also energizes solenoids 289, 291 and 296, holding valves 231, 292 and 237 in the position shown, so that both ends of cylinder 212 'are supplied with liquid under equal pressure. Since piston 212 does not move until circuit R is made operative, the pressure of the liquid in the system immediately rises above the fixed pressure at which the relief valve 224 is set, the effect of which is then bypassing the liquid from pump 221 directly to source S via line 225.

   The high-pressure liquid passes through line 230, valve 231, line 232, valve 233, (in the position shown. ', Ball shut-off valve 245 is kept lifted from its seat), there through line 234 to enter cylinder 212 'to the left of piston 212.

   The liquid under pressure also passes through the lines 235,236, the valve 237, the line 238, the shut-off valve 239, the line 240, the valve 241 which also allows the liquid to pass at the position at which it has been shown, and line 242, to enter to the right of cylinder 212 ', excitation of primary 312 of transformer 264 induces current in its secondary 313, and normally open pressure contact 314 closes after pressure in the system has accumulated to a determined value.

  Closing this contact supplies current to circuit R, but nothing happens because all the control relay circuits are open. The selector lever

 <Desc / Clms Page number 29>

 With the SL device in the position shown, the selected sensor unit is the unit 269 and the primary member 210 must move to the left to the intermediate location determined by the position of the switch 272, on the opposite side from at surface 271, to the side where it was originally. In the position shown, contactor 272 is closed, contactor 273 as well, and contactor 274 is open. The state of contactor 273 is at this moment irrelevant.

  By construction, contactor 274 is always open when contactor 272 is closed.

   By closing the push-button switch 315, the control relay CR3 is energized which closes the contact 216 of CR and opens the contact 217 of CR3. The contactor 272 being closed, the circuit is established: ground, contactor 272 , wire 318, series 285 outer contact pad, ring 282 and wire 319. Since contact 317 of CR3 is open, no short circuit occurs and, with contact 316 of CR3 being closed, current flows through the control relay CR1, the pressure contact 314 which is closed, the second 313 and the ground.

   The energization of the control relay CR1 closes the contact 320 of CR1, energizing the solenoid 260 and thus releasing the link device 219; it also opens the contact 220 'of CR1, de-energizing the solenoid 289, the plunger of the valve 231 then being driven to the right by the spring 290, evacuating the pipe 232 through the orifice 290' and consequently evacuating the cylinder 212 'to the left of the piston 212. The piston 212 and the primary member 210 are then moved to the left. As soon as this movement begins, the pressure of the liquid in the system drops below the set value of the relief valve 224, which in turn will supply the system with low pressure and high flow liquid, ensuring rapid displacement. from the primary organ to the: '- left.

   When solenoid 289 is

 <Desc / Clms Page number 30>

 de-energized, contact 321 closes, establishing a latching circuit for control relay CR1 after abandonment of push-button 315 and de-energization of control relay CR3. This circuit starts from the ground, passes through the contactor 321, the wire 322, the control relay CR1, the pressure contact 314, the secondary 313 and the ground.

   However, before the release of the contactor 315, and while the control relay CR3 is energized, the contact 323 of CR3 closes, energizing the control relay CR4 and the relay TD1. The energization of the control relay DT4 closes the contact 324 of CR4, keeping the control relay CR4 and the relay TD1 energized after the reopening of the contact 323 of the CR3 following the abandonment of the push button 315.

  Excitation of relay TD1 closes contact 325 of that relay, but control relay CR2 does not energize because control relay CR1 is still energized, keeping contact 326 of CR1 open.

   The rapid movement of the primary member 310 to the left continues until the contactor 274 is closed under the action of the end 281 of the ramp 277. The circuit is then established: ground, contactor 274. , wire 326, ring 284, wire 327, solenoid 289, wire 328, wire 263, secondary 313 and ground, thereby again energizing solenoid 289. This new energization of solenoid 289 moves valve 231 to the position shown, interrupting the travel of the primary member 210 to the left and opening the conductor 321, so that the control relay CR1 is switched off and as a consequence, the contact 320 of CR1 opens, allowing the link device 219 to come into play.

   At the precise moment when the contactor 274 closes, the finger 280 of the contactor 272 touches the surface 276 so that the contactor 272 opens when the primary member comes to a stop, and this immobilized position is no other.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 31>

 that the intermediate location from which the primary organ 210 must be moved slowly to its final location, determined by the surface 271, the primary organ 210 being at this intermediate location, the finger 279 will be at a very short distance of the surface 271, this distance being of the order of 0.75 mm. In addition, the primary member being at this location, the contactors 273 and 274 will be closed, since the length of the ramp 277 has been determined so as to ensure these conditions.

   De-energizing control relay CR1, described above, allows contact 326 of CR1 to close, energizing control relay CR2 which opens its contact 329, de-energizing control relay CR4 and relay TD1. It also opens contacts. 330,331 ee CR2 and closes contact 331 'of CR2. The closing of the contact 331 'of CR2 energizes the solenoid 260, releasing the link device 219. The opening of the contactor 331 of CR2 does not cause the de-energization of the solenoid 291; in fact, when the primary organ is in the intermediate location, the contactor 273 is closed maintaining the circuit: earth, contactor 273, wire 332, central contact of group 285, ring 283, wire 33, solenoid 291 , wire 328, wire 263, secondary 313 and ground.

   The opening of the contact 330 of CR2 de-energizes the solenoid valve 296, so that the valve 237 moves under the action of the spring 297 to ensure the exhaust of the line 238 through the orifice 298. The operation of the valve. valve 237 also closes a switch 334 intended to keep the control relay CR2 energized after the opening of the contact 325 of TD1. The opening of the contact 325 of PD1, before the closing of the switch 334, prevents the operation of device because it would cut off relay CR2 and close the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 32>

 contact 330 of CR2, energizing again of solenoid 296.

   As a result, TD1 conduit 325 receives a necessary adjustment to open after a sufficient delay after de-energization of relay TD1 for switch 334 to be certainly closed.

   The solenoid 296 being de-energized and the solenoids 289 and 291 still being energized, the primary organ moves slowly to the right at a speed which depends on the calibrated flow rate under which the valve 310 allows the liquid coming from the right end of the valve to pass. cylinder 212 '. Since this slow movement is produced at a time when the liquid is under high pressure in the system, any possibly unfilled space between valves 293 and 292 would first fill up causing displacement of the primary member independently of the calibration valve 310. .

   To prevent this action, a pipe 295 'is provided connecting the pipe 235 to the valve. 292 to always keep this space fully filled and, when the calibrated supply occurs through valve 310, the high pressure in line 295 'keeps valve 293 closed. This slow movement to the right continues until finger 279 attacks surface 271; at this moment, continuing the movement of the primary organ to the right closes contactor 272. Closing contact 272 establishes the circuit: earth, switch 272, wire 318, ring 282, wire 319, contact 317 of CR3, solenoid 296, thread 263, secondary 313 and ground.

   The solenoid 296 is then energized again and moves the plunger of the valve 237 so as to close the exhaust port 298, immobilizing the primary member at the selected final location. Operation of valve 237 also opens switch 334 which de-energizes

 <Desc / Clms Page number 33>

 the control relay CR2, so that the contact 331 'of CR2 opens, and the link device 219 maintains the primary organ at the chosen final location.

  Another effect of the operation of the valve 237 is the closing of the contacts 330 and 331 of CR, keeping the solenoids 296 and 291 energized. The apparatus is then able to allow a new selection by the selector or tertiary device SL. , and this new selection can be made by the non-selective maneuver of pressing the button 315.

   We will now assume that we move the lever counterclockwise so that it is the group of contacts 286 that comes into play.

  It is then the detector unit 269 'which becomes operative and it is evident from the drawing that the primary organ is initially located to the left of the chosen final location defined by the surface 271'. According to the drawing, the contactors 272 'and 273' are open, while the contactor 274 'is closed. But the closed state of contactor 274 'does not matter and it can be opened, its state depending on how far primary member 210 is initially located to the left of the final location.

   By pressing button 315, relay CR3 energizes, closing contact 325 of CR3 and energizing control relay CR4 and relay TD1. The energization of the control relay CR4 causes the closing of the contact 324 of CR4, locking the control relay CR4 and the relay TD1 through the contact 329 of CRZ. Excitation of relay TD1 closes contact 325 of TD1, energizing control relay CR2 which opens contacts 330 and 331 of CR2, de-energizing solenoids 296 and 291, causing the valves to operate.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 34>

 237 and 292 so as to evacuate the pipes 238 and 240 respectively.

   At the same time, the excitation of the control relay CR2 opens the contact 329 of CR2, de-energizing the control relay CR4 and the relay TD1. If the contact 325 of TD1 were to open before the closing of the switch 334, during the operation of the valve 237, the control relay CR2 would de-energize and cause the closing of the contacts 330 and 331 of CR2, again energizing the solenoids 296 and 291 and preventing any displacement of the primary organ. For this reason, we set the contact of TD1 so that it opens after a sufficient time following the de-energization of the relay TD1, to ensure the prior closing of the switch 334 which, therefore, keeps the relay energized. CR2 command after opening contact 325 of TD1.

   On the other hand, when the control relay CR2 is energized, the contact 331 'of CR2 closes, energizing the solenoid 260 and consequently releasing the link device 219. Under these conditions therefore, the right end of the cylinder 212 'is exhausted through ports 295 and 298 of valves 292 and 237, so that the pressure of the liquid in the system decreases to the point at which the valve 224 supplies the system with a large amount of low liquid. -pressure, rapidly moving the primary organ 210 to the right. This rapid movement to the right continues until the contactor 273 'closes under the action of the 2 $ la' end of the ramp 277 '.

   Closing contactor 273 'establishes the circuit: ground, contactor 273', wire 335, ring 283, wire 333, solenoid 291, wire 328, wire 263, secondary 313 and ground, energizing the solenoid again. 291 and actuating the valve

 <Desc / Clms Page number 35>

 pe 292 to shut off the exhaust port 295. The primary organ is now located at the intermediate location at which the two contactors 273 'and 274' are closed and the contactor 272 is open, its finger 279 ' being a short distance from surface 271 '. In
 EMI35.1
 Consequently, the solenoid 206 is, J .'é'Y ':: 1i the three solenoids 2Lcj,. - '..' 1 1, .., ..; i, suul was not aroused again.

  As a result, the primary organ slowly moves towards the. right under the action of the calibration valve 310, evacuating the right side of the cylinder 212 'through the exhaust port 298. The slow movement of the primary member to the right continues until the switch 272 'closes under the action of its finger 279' cooperating with the surface 271 '.

   Closing contactor 272 'establishes ground circuit, contactor 272', wire 336, ring 282, wire 319, contact 317 of CR3, solenoid 296, wire 263, secondary 313 and ground, energizing solenoid 296 again and actuating the valve 237 to cut off the exhaust 298 and open the switch 334. Opening this switch de-energizes the control relay CR2, so that the contact 331 'of CR2 opens, allowing the link device 219 to maintain the primary organ in its final location until a new selection is made by rotating the lever 288 of the selector SL and pressing the button 315.

   If the primary organ is initially located between the intermediate location and the final location, the contactors 273 'and 274' would be closed, while the contactor 272 'would be open and, of course, the primary organ would reach. slowly the final location chosen.
