<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

sc: le.atiuieren in a few different runtime codes.
Fig.l against the crank circle 1 with the journals 2 and 4, a cylinder 3, formed eg as a cylindrical spring. is' a freewheel with is a lever.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Operation: The diameter of the crank circle, the length and power of the connecting rod-spring and the lever b of the freewheel 5 are synchronized so that the journal 2 arriving at 7a makes an arc of 180, when the regulator is without cnarge. But lever 4 arriving at Sa only makes an arc of 90. Trunnion 7, continuing its path from 7 to 2, will move lever b from position 8 to initial position 4.
The ratio of the regulator is therefore in this case 2/1.
The loaded governor will cause the connecting rod-spring length to change and the ratio will be greater than 2: 1.
The energy accumulated in the connecting rod spring during the travel of the journal from 2 to 7 is returned by the relaxation of the spring during the travel from 7 to 2, thus relieving the regulator.
If the ordered machine is blocked p. e., lever b will be stopped in position 4, but journal 2 will continue to travel, compressing and relaxing the connecting rod spring. If the machine is in normal operation, the freewheel receives only the necessary power which remains constant. In this way there is an automatic adaptation of the number of revolutions according to the load of the controlled machine.
Fig. 2 shows an arrangement with a massive connecting rod 9. A special flat spring 12 is inserted between the lever 10 and the freewheel 11 and we have the same effect as for the connecting rod-spring 3 in Fig. l. It is equal for the principle of the invention in which way the elasticity of the connecting rod is achieved.
Fig. 3, 4 and 5 show the invention with a planetary gear 13 for the transmission of power between the propulsion shaft lb and the journal 2.
Operation: The connecting rod 3, a cylindrical spring is constructed one way that it can receive and transmit pulling and pushing forces, changing the length
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
of connecting rod being always equal to the diameter of the circle of the crank 1.
The hinge of the journal 15 of the connecting rod is a hinge with elongated perforation. So if the control machine is blocked or if there is no load, the journal 2 can move to the left or to the right in the elongated perforation without tensioning the spring of the connecting rod. If there is the normal load the journal 2 only moves partially in the perforation 15, and not at all if there is the maximum load.
The connecting rods oscillate in circles 1 during the rotation of the journals 2.
The sun wheel is wedged with the control shaft lb which is rotatable in the center 23 of the control drum 22.
The planetary wheels 20, carrying the crank circles and the interposed wheels 19 are rotatable in the support of the planets 18 which for its part can oscillate around the control shaft lb. The controlled shaft 21 is wedged with the controlled drum 22. The trunnion 2 and the cnarnières 7 are necessarily linked by the spring rod 3. So this one will lengthen during the load- (when the trunnion moves from 2 to 7. But the superfluous energy, accumulated in the spring will be returned by the relaxation of the spring in the movement of the connecting rod 3 from 7 to 2, reducing the load on the control machine.
The direction of rotation is the same for the command force and for the commanded force. Walking empty, the center line of the carrier of planets 18 is in the 0-0 line.
When the planetary carrier 18 is rotated by the free-running clutch 14 to an angle Ó, the journal 2 only moves partially in the elongated perforation, and the elastic link will be tensioned and adapt to the conditions.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
We. obtains the maxium of the transmittable power by the regulator, by placing the center line of the carrier in the line x - x. In this case the number of revolutions of the controlled part drops to zero and is blocked, while the control motor continues to rotate with its full number of revolutions by pulling and relaxing the spring connecting rod.
The principle of the free-running clutch is known. (Fig. 5) The free-running clutch 14 according to the invention is composed of the means 24 of the carrier of the planets 18, of the disc 25 for the right-hand rotation, of the disc 2b for the left-hand rotation and the connecting rods or cylinders 27. The eye, by a rope or by rods is linked with the control lever of the operator of the machine.
So the surplus of the power of the control motor is returned to the motor by unloading it and the controlled machine only obtains the energy it needs and nothing more, it cannot be overloaded, even reversible machines.
