<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 2 est une coupe en travers.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
4 a droite).
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
Dans l'embouchure de sortie 35 sont disposés, dans le prolongement des parois 35d, des organes de guidage 41 pou- vant tourner vers le bas autour d'axes horizontaux 40, qui sont reliés chacun par un bras 42 à une barre commune 43 à l'aide de laquelle tous les organes de guidage peuvent être déplacés en même temps de façon à prendre une position plus ou moins inclinée. Par ce moyen, les grains sont ramenés dans la fente de travail à un emplacement déplacé dans le sens de l'axe par rapport à l'emplacement de sortie, et plus voisin de l'orifice de sortie, non représenté, du boîtier. Il est par conséquent possible également, dans cette forme d'exécution;
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

"Device intended in particular for cleaning, dehulling, polishing, grinding, etc. ... of foodstuffs in granular form and dried vegetables".
Continuously operating devices are known comprising a motor rotating in a friction trough, for working the product. It is also known to vary the distance between the friction trough and the outer surface of the rotor, in order to vary the working pressure and the effect produced in the work as required. Usually the friction trough is only adjustable in one direction.
The device which is the subject of the present invention, which comprises, for working the product, a horizontal rotor rotating in the friction trough, differs from these known devices in that, in order to modify the slit of @
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
work between the rotor and the trough, these members can be adjusted with respect to each other in different directions perpendicular to the axis, and by the fact that means are provided for returning to the side. from the inlet at least part of the product being worked, which exits, on the outlet side, out of the working slot between the rotor and the trough.
In the accompanying drawing are shown two exemplary embodiments of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of a first embodiment.
Fig. la shows a detail in a plan view.
Fig. 2 is a cross section.
Fig. 3 is an end view from the right side of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is a cross section of a second embodiment.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the device comprises, in a housing 1, a drum 3 which rests on rollers (or toothed wheels) 2.
In the lower half of the drum there is a rotor composed of a number of working discs 4 which are arranged on a common horizontal shaft 5 on which they are permanently fixed with no gaps between them or with a gap between them. The rotor 4 is disposed in the drum in one of the lower quarters of the latter, with its shaft passing in its entire length through the drum, so that between itself and the lower wall of the drum there is a interval.
The average rotor diameter is smaller than the radius of the drum. The shaft 5 with the rotor 4 is driven at a speed of about 2000 revolutions per minute by an electric motor which is not shown in the drawings. The drum is controlled from one of its rollers or from one of its toothed support wheels, at a speed of rotation which is equal to one
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
small fraction of that of the rotor, for example 50 revolutions per minute. The direction of rotation of the drum is chosen so that the product to be worked, introduced at one end of the casing through an opening 6 in the drum, is dragged down from one side of the rotor to the other. or is lifted up to the height of the latter, therefore, in fig. 2, from left side to right side (arrow 1).
The direction of rotation of the rotor is the reverse of that of the drum. The rotor discs have on the perimeter and on the end faces, as means for working the product, beaters, brushes, surfaces lined with emery, wire cloth or a polishing mass (which does not is not shown).
Depending on the work to be done, I am fitted with a rotor, the discs of which are provided with the necessary different working means. It is also possible to equip the successive discs with the means which are suitable for the work to be carried out, so as to allow the execution in a threshold passage through the machine or in a single operation, of the different phases of treatment, such as by example shelling, smoothing, polishing, brushing, crushing and grinding. The working surfaces, for example the outer surfaces of the rotor discs, may have a cylindrical profile, or else have a different profile, as shown in fig. 1. Instead of beaters, the first disc can be provided with a polygonal contour.
Of course, the whole rotor must be dynamically balanced. The inner face of the drum may be provided in whole or in part with working surfaces or the wall of the drum may be provided with perforations at least over a part of its length, in order either to separate the waste which is collected. form, or sort the grains which have broken down into several sizes, so that they can be removed from a harmful peeling effect, that is to say detrimental to the appearance of the product. The drum shell
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
can be provided for the same purpose, on all or part of its interior surface, with what are called sorter cells.
The lower part of the rotor 4 is surrounded, at a certain distance which leaves a working slot 7, by a friction trough below which there is a return duct 9, arranged between it and the wall of the drum. - bour, for the product to be worked out of the working slot 7 on the exit side. In the return duct 9, guide vanes (guide members) 11 are fixed, so as to be able to pivot, on studs 10 which protrude downwards from the trough 8.
All the guide members 11 are connected in an articulated manner, by arms 12 curved upwards, to a common bar 13, which can be displaced from the outside in the direction of the length, and by the longitudinal movements. of which the position of the guide members can be adjusted so as to place them more or less obliquely with respect to the axis of the drum. By this means, it is possible to direct the product to be worked more or less rapidly towards the outlet orifice 14, depending on whether the duration of the operation has to be shortened or extended. Ribs 8 'which protrude from the bowl 8 in the direction of the bottom and inside the return duct 9 preventing the product from moving in the direction of the axis The friction trough 8 carries at each end a plate 15.
These plates 15 pass with a certain lateral play through the corresponding end wall of the boftier 1 and are each guided, so as to be able to move horizontally and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rotor, along two rods 17 which protrude laterally from a support 16 of the corresponding end wall of the housing. With the aid of springs 18, the trough 8 is maintained, on the side of the outlet of the working slot 7, at a minimum distance, adjustable by means of a threaded rod 19 with flywheel, from the outer surface of the rotor 4, so that this trough may give way in the event that the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
working pressure becomes excessive.
The threaded rods 19 with a flywheel each pass through an arm 20 of the corresponding end wall of the housing and constitute for each of the plates 15 an adjustable stop. The trough 8 is suspended from each of its end walls, by means of an arm 21 which passes through the corresponding end wall of the casing with all-out play, and by means of a bar articulated 22, to a lever 23 so as to be able to go up and down. The levers 23 each pivot, on the outer faces of the end walls of the housing, on a stud 24 and each carry a weight 25.
Above the arm of the lever 23 which is opposite the weight 25 is arranged a stopper, adjustable in the vertical direction in the form of a threaded rod 26 with handwheel, which is screwed into an arm 27 of the corresponding end wall of the housing that protrudes outward. The weights 25 are adjusted so that the levers 23 rest against the threaded rods 26 by exerting a determined pressure against them. This pressure is adjusted so that the product to be worked is not exposed to a higher working pressure than what is necessary for its treatment. If this working pressure is exceeded, the trough moves downwards, which reduces the working pressure.
By corresponding adjustment of the threaded rod 26 with flywheel, it is possible to maintain a minimum width determined for the working slot 7 in the vertical direction.
In the operation of the machine in question, the product to be worked, introduced into the drum 3 on the side of the entry of the working slot 7 is driven by the drum, while being worked simultaneously, towards the side and towards the front. high, while being lifted to a height somewhat greater than the entry edge of the trough 8 and being introduced in the form of an accumulation which constantly rolls backwards into the working slot in which the treatment of the product by contact with rubbed surfaces
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
more or less rough aunts of the rotor and the trough.
On the entry side, above the upper edge of the trough 8, on a longitudinal beam 29 in the form of an angle iron, there are vertical transverse walls 29a which prevent axial displacement of the product in the accumulation which rolls back.
Above the outlet location of the working slot is disposed a deflector 28, inside which, with the aid of a fan which is not shown, the envelopes which are sucked out are removed by suction. are detached grains and light particles. So that the grains launched into the air out of the working slot 7 cannot be projected in the direction of the axis of the rotor, the deflector 28 has been divided into chambers by intermediate partitions 28a. The product to be worked which leaves the trough on its outlet side is transported back by the drum on the side of the inlet of the trough, undergoing by the directing members 11 a displacement in the direction of the movement. axis to the side of the outlet opening.
The duration of treatment can be modified by a corresponding oblique orientation of the guide plates 11.
Dance device shown in section in fig. 4, the return transport of the product to be worked from the exit side aieu, unlike the above-described form of execution not mechanically, using a drum rotating in the opposite direction of the rotor, but pneumatically. In the housing 1, the horizontal rotor 4 is arranged, leaving a working slot 7, in a friction trough which comprises two hollow cylinder segments 8a and 8b with internal lining 8a 'and 8b'. The interior linings have suitable working surfaces, for example roughened. The segment 8a is supported by the yokes 8c.
(of which only one can be seen) on studs 30 which protrude from levers 23a mounted on a pin 31 outside the housing 1 and provided with a movable counterweight 25a, and .1
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
in the direction of the interior, through the walls at the end of the housing, by raprt to which they have play. The levers 23a are applied from the ends: rear, and from below against threaded rods 26a. which guarantee a certain minimum adjustable width of the working slot 7 in the vertical direction.
The upper end of the trough segment 8a is provided with an extension 8d made in the form of an inlet wall of a funnel and ears 8e, these ears being connected to threaded rods 32 by means of studs projecting laterally outward. By rotation of the threaded rods 32, the upper end of the rod segment 8a can be moved. inward or outward and thereby modify the entry slit for the product to be worked. On the trough segment 8a are arranged support or support arms 33 for the trough segment 8b, curved upwards from the lower edge of this segment, and, at the top, inwards, hook-shaped.
Adjusting screws 34 disposed on the support and support arms 33 limit the outer end position of the upper edge of the trough segment 8b and therefore the exit opening of the working slot 7. The inner lining 8b 'only rests freely by the edge which advances inwardly on the lower edge, projecting inwardly of the trough segment 8a, so that the trough segment 8b. can easily be taken out with its interior lining and be replaced by another, executed for the accomplishment of another treatment. The product which leaves the working slot passes into a return duct 35 which crosses above the rotor 4 and goes towards the product inlet side (fig. 4 on the right).
The duct 35 is in communication with a duct 37 passing around a horizontal tube 36 slit at the bottom in the direction of the length. At one end of the tube 36 is connected the long side of a fan not shown.
On the other hand, the duct 35 is connected to an inlet pipe
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
air 38 through which fresh air can enter which causes the product to cool. By the vacuum produced by this fan, the product which leaves the working slot 7 is sucked with the separate envelopes of the grains into the duct 35 in which it undergoes at the location of a passage 35a of / section. reduced, located at the highest point, first an acceleration and then, in a widened part 35b, a considerable slowing down.
The lightest particles, thus the envelopes, the ball, etc. are sucked out of the widening 35b, which descends obliquely, upwards and into the duct 37, while the heavy particles, therefore the grains, fall down and are transported into the vertical outlet mouth 35c which is located above the wall of the inlet funnel 8d.
By transverse intermediate partitions 35d, the duct 35 is subdivided so that the constituents of the product to be worked cannot be distributed in the direction of the axis of the device. In the flared part 35b, the product can cool. The fresh product to be worked is introduced into the flared part 35b of the duct, through an opening 39 indicated in phantom and disposed in one of the end walls of the housing.
In the outlet mouth 35 are arranged, in the extension of the walls 35d, guide members 41 capable of rotating downwards around horizontal axes 40, which are each connected by an arm 42 to a common bar 43 to with the aid of which all the guide members can be moved at the same time so as to assume a more or less inclined position. By this means, the grains are brought back into the working slot at a location displaced in the direction of the axis with respect to the outlet location, and closer to the outlet orifice, not shown, of the housing. It is therefore also possible, in this embodiment;
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
to vary the duration of treatment as required.
Before entering the tube 38, the product which exits is separated in an enlarged part 37a into relatively light constituents and relatively heavy constituents, the light ones being sucked through the tube 36 and the heavy ones being discharged through an outlet duct 44 .
In both embodiments, one could also mount the rotor, instead of the trough, movably in the vertical direction and suspend or support it with a counterweight lever.
The device described ensures a regular treatment of all the grains of the product to be worked, eliminating a part of the grain breaks which were heretofore inevitable.
The fact that the dehulling effect and its duration can be varied has a particularly advantageous effect for the preparation of hulled barley and for the dehulling of legumes, since it is possible to avoid the irregularities of work which may occur. have an unfavorable effect on the appearance of the polished surface and the glossy appearance, due to the possibilities of adjusting the device differently. The finished treatment product exits the device in a continuous manner. It is therefore not necessary to collect the product whose treatment has been completed.
