 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

   Par la descritpion qui précède, on comprend que le fonctionnement du robinet est très simple, que ses deux seules pièces ne sont soumises à aucun effort et ne nécessitent pas d'ajustement précis ou de filetages fins, que l'épaisseur de ses parois peut, suivant le matériau employé, être aussi forte qu'il est nécessaire et que sa forme caractéristique permet la fabrication de.s deux pièces par moulage, raisons pour les- quelles le présent brevet permet de construire des robinets entièrement avec des matériaux de substitution moins résistants et meilleur marché, sans perte de leur efficacité ;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

  Two-piece moldable faucet.

   The present patent concerns a new valve characterized by the simplicity of its mechanism and the minimum number of parts which compose it, valve body and mouthpiece - which have, moreover, been designed to be able to be produced. at a low cost price by molding various substances.

   It is about a tap which opens or closes when one turns in one direction or the other, the mouth screwed at its end, that is to say a fairly well-known type of tap, but free from faults peculiar to this system, such as: excessive or complicated parts, impractical closing devices, water lost by projection, water leaks through the threads of the mouthpiece, and above all excessively high price , which is why its use has not become widespread.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   On the other hand, the manufacture of valves at present absorbs a large quantity of expensive and sometimes rare metals, which are not really necessary to give the valves the necessary strength in consideration of the services they render. However, new substitute materials, be they cheap alloys or plastics, generally require a simple mechanism and parts that can be made by molding, pressure or injection. as much as possible without subsequent machining.

   All this has been taken into account when drawing up the drawing of the new valve which is described below:
The body thereof can take various forms, but it basically boils down to a tubing which terminates in an externally threaded mouthpiece, having a throat or shoulder on the inside, on which the central core of the The mouthpiece is the obturation. It can be manufactured by any known process, but by adopting the elongated or curved form of an arc of a circle that we claim, it can be obtained by molding using a core of the same shape which creates the internal vacuum. , this core finally meets with another core which is the one which determines the orifice and the bearing surface where the mouth operates the closure.

   The two cores will be slightly conical and their shape will allow them to come out when the molding of the part is completed.

   The mouthpiece, the external appearance of which can be variable, comprises fins, grooves, or any other shape allowing it to be easily rotated. Its internal shape, and mainly its central part, have been studied to fulfill various functions, such as closing, distributing the liquid, slowing down the jet and finally giving the liquid a good fluidity at the outlet, in order to '' avoid any loss of water by projection. Its design allows it to be manufactured by molding in a single piece, by the combined action of two molding cores: an upper core which forms the thread, and another lower which forms the outlet opening with its partitions.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 and enters the upper core by molding between them, the core or central part of the mouth.

   The appended figures, corresponding to one embodiment and given as an exemplary embodiment, will help to understand the details and operation of these parts, in accordance with what is said in the following descriptive memory:
Fig. 1 shows at its upper part the appearance of a bent tube, which is referred to as the body of the valve 1, which terminates in a threaded orifice 2 into which the mouth is screwed. The lower part of this figure shows the same bend in section. Its internal profile is determined by the intersection at 90 of two slightly conical cores, one of them being the 4 and the other the 13/5 which forms the seat 3 of the valve which can be of different types.

   Other variants of the valve body can be obtained by combining cores that are straight or curved in an arc of a circle, or else by modifying the angles. The external form is indifferent.

   Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section of the mouth in its main part. One distinguishes three parts: the cylindrical upper part 6, with left thread 14 on the inside, and fins on the outside 7, (fig. 3), is followed by a frustoconical shape which ends in a outlet, also cylindrical on the inside. This outlet orifice is divided by various longitudinal partitions 10 terminated in a bevel 16 which serve to avoid turbulence and extend to the top in the form of a column 15, forming the inner core of cylinder 11, or else of cone 12 (fig. 4) which performs the closing (in the first case by means of an elastic seal and in the second directly).

  This central part of the mouth serves at the same time as a distributor of the liquid vein, which flows all around it and concentrates it by adhesion; its diameter is naturally smaller than that of the orifice of the valve body. Through @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 the combined action of these two diameters with the passage orifice 13 and the outlet diameter of the mouthpiece, a maximum volume is regulated and this prevents the current, turning back, from passing through through the nets.

   The lower diameter of the frustoconical part of the mouth, in its internal part, is slightly smaller than that of the outlet of the valve body 9.

  This small shoulder is used however to operate the braking of the jet, because a small liquid mattress forms above it which serves as a shock absorber. The number 21 is used to designate a small thread housed inside a fin, which serves to prevent the unintentional disassembly of the mouthpiece, by coming into contact with the beginning of the thread 22 of the orifice of the tap ( fig. 1).

   Fig. 3 shows a bottom view of the complete mouth. It can be seen that the dividing walls 10 are thin in order to present a minimum resistance to the current which passes between them. The dark part represents the distributor cylinder.

   Fig. 4 shows us in section how the mouthpiece is mounted on the orifice of the tap. There can also be seen an extensible ring 23 placed at its upper part which has the same object as the wire 21 of FIG. 2, that is to say to prevent unintentional disassembly of the mouthpiece, by abutting the thread of the valve body. The same result can be obtained by a small screw (not shown) housed between two threads of the thread at the upper part of the mouth.

   The fins for the maneuver are, in this case, trapezoidal, and the closing is done by direct adjustment of the cone 12.

   Fig. 5 shows in section a mouthpiece, mounted, arranged to effect the closing by means of the elastic washer 17 which is placed on the upper central point of the mouthpiece, which point has been placed there for this purpose .

   Fig. 6 shows in section a variant of the closure form, characterized in that the elastic seal 18, -

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 in this case, is free or floating, which decreases its wear because it rests each time in a different position.

   Fig. 7 shows in section another variant of the closure, characterized in that the elastic seal is supported by a rotary plate 19 making it possible to avoid friction or the twisting of the latter in cases where this is suitable.

   Finally, fig. 8 schematically shows in section one way of combining or actuating a valve or type of closure, with the aid of pressure from the central core of the mouth.

   In all cases, the flat seat has a large surface area in order to reduce the friction and the pressure necessary to achieve a hermetic seal. The elastic seal therefore has an almost unlimited life.

   From the above description, it can be understood that the operation of the valve is very simple, that its only two parts are not subjected to any force and do not require precise adjustment or fine threads, that the thickness of its walls can, depending on the material used, be as strong as necessary and that its characteristic shape allows the manufacture of two parts by molding, reasons for which the present patent makes it possible to construct valves entirely with less resistant substitute materials and cheaper, without loss of efficiency;

   especially with plastics, with which one obtains obvious and unexpected results, such as: very low cost price (approximately one third of the running tap) and a practically unlimited duration, because the friction of the thread is greatly reduced when one uses new materials, and mainly when combining metal with bakelite.

   On the other hand, the new plastic taps do not require external polishing or electrolytic baths; they are much more hygienic and can

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 be made easily in transparent material or in a color that matches the decoration of bathrooms, washbasins, etc., or else in a material that is unassailable for the chemical industry. Due to their simplicity of form and operation, the glass body can also be constructed of sufficient thickness.

   Finally, it should be noted that the volume of the valve to which this patent relates, and therefore the weight of raw material required, is approximately half that of a common valve, and that the elastic seal can be easily changed. and quickly in cases where it is necessary.

   summary
1.- A molded two-piece tap, remarkable in that the body of the tap is reduced to a tubing at one end of which is screwed a mouthpiece, which produces the closure when its central part is fitted on a suitable bearing surface ', with or without the intermediary of an elastic seal, but without any other additions or complementary parts.
