<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

: PROCESS WITH OVEN AIMS TO VARY THE SPEED
The object of the invention is a method having the aim of varying the speed of rotation of the control of machines, automobiles, etc., characterized in that this control consists of a continuous rotary transmission.
The attached drawing serves to illustrate the process in question.
In this drawing, an eccentric 4 is wedged on the control shaft 1. A lever 5 is articulated on an axis of rotation 8 of this eccentric and is articulated
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
at its other end by a pin 7 on a lever 6. This lever 6 has a longitudinal slot 9 and can oscillate by its free end 17 around the end 16 of a fixed pin 3. A slide 10 is movable in the longitudinal slot 9 of the lever 6 in the longitudinal direction and can be immobilized there * A lever 11 is articulated on the slide and its other end is articulated by means of a journal 15 on a lever 12 mounted idle on the controlled tree 2.
The lever 12 comprises a pawl 14 which corresponds to a ratchet wheel 13 wedged on the controlled shaft 2. the principle of this rotary transmission is as follows:
The eccentric 4 fixed on the control shaft 1 causes the lever 6 to oscillate by the lever 5 around the point 17. This oscillation is transmitted to the lever 12 mounted on the controlled shaft 2, thus rotating step by step at the by means of the pawl 14 the ratchet wheel 13 wedged on the controlled shaft 2 and consequently by rotating the controlled shaft 2 by the control shaft 1. The amplitude of the movement of the pawl 14 at each revolution of the shaft 1 depends on the position of the slide 10 in the longitudinal slot 9 of the lever 6.
When the slide 10 is at point 17, this amplitude is zero and therefore the shaft 2 remains stationary., If the slide is at point 18, the amplitude of the oscillation of the pawl 14 is maximum ,, We are therefore able to vary the number of revolutions of shaft 2 from zero to a maximum while shaft 1 is rotating.
The construction form described above comprises a so-called ratchet rotary transmission. But she
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
can be replaced by a so-called tightening transmission, of any form of construction *
The variation of the relative number of revolutions between the control shaft 1 and the control shaft 2 can be carried out by hand or mechanically by varying the position of the slide 10 in the longitudinal slot 9 of the lever 6.
In order to obtain a continuous and uniform rotational movement of the shaft 2, several of the aforementioned devices are brought together in a complete transmission, except that a single eccentric is sufficient which actuates all the levers successively and in order. pawls or tightening transmissions.
The variation of the relative number of revolutions between the shaft 1 and the shaft 2 by varying the position of the slide 10 in the longitudinal slot 9 of the lever 6 can be carried out by hand or mechanically from a central station
To vary the number of revolutions between shaft 1 and shaft 2 in a manner other than that which has been described, it is possible to actuate by means of the pawls or the tightening transmissions an eccentric mechanically controlled, the position of which can be be adjusted, which is mounted on shaft 1 and which can be adjusted while the transmission is running.
When the maximum rotational speed of shaft 2 is reached, it is possible to arrange for the control shaft 1 to be coupled directly with the controlled shaft 2.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
When shaft 1 rotates and shaft 2 is stationary, the direction of rotation of shaft '2 can be changed without difficulty.
In addition, shaft 1 can be controlled by shaft 2 by means of an automatic mechanical clutch *
The rotary transmission according to the invention has all the properties which can be imposed on a transmission of this type without its construction being complicated.
