 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

  "Device for collecting dust and tools fitted with this device
The present invention relates to a dust collection device which can be used especially with planetary grinding wheels or sawing wheels, controlled by flexible shafts.
In quarries or building sites, where granite, marble or stones are worked, it is common practice to use groups comprising essentially an electric motor controlling a grinding wheel or a similar tool by flexible shaft.

   Such installations, which are very advantageous due to the very fact of the possible displacement of the tooling, however have the great drawback, retaining moreover most of the installations.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 fixed, not to eliminate the dust produced.

   The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback by providing a device for collecting dust which can be easily applied to all devices which produce dust during work. To this end, the device according to the invention essentially comprises a hood surrounding the apparatus producing the dust, a suction pipe for the air charged with dust, leading to said hood and connected to a vacuum cleaner, and a pipe joining said vacuum cleaner to an air dedusting tank.

   The hood surrounding the dust-producing device is provided at its base with an extension ring, removable and adjustable in height, so as to avoid its contact with the workpiece when the dust-producing device wears out, especially in the case of planetary grinding wheels.

   The present invention also relates to various tools provided with such a device.

   Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of a device according to the invention, given below by way of non-limiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings.

   FIG. 1 shows a front view of a grinding wheel holder tool head provided with a dust suction device.

   FIG. 2 represents a front view of the suction hood with its inspection door.

   Figure 3 is a front view of a suction housing.

   Figure 4 is a plan view of the same housing.

   FIG. 5 shows a grinder with a suction device and a dust container placed at the top of the assembly.

   FIG. 6 is a sectional view of the reservoir according to FIG. 5.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   Figure 7 shows a similar grinder, with the dust container placed at the bottom of the assembly.

   In the various figures, the same reference notations represent identical elements.

   The tool head 1, shown in Figure 1, allows the control, by a shaft 2 connected by flexible to the control motor, a grinding wheel 4 fixed to a grinding wheel support 3, in which is provided a threaded recess. 5 for fixing said support on the axis 6, provided in the tool head and whose rotation is controlled by the axis 2 by means of bevel gears or by any suitable intermediate connection.

   The grinding wheel 4 and its support 3 are surrounded by a hood 7, the outer base of which is threaded so as to allow the rotation of an extension ring t ;, internally threaded.

  This ring 8 could still be slidably mounted on the hood 7 without the use of nets or by any system allowing height adjustment.

   This same ring 8 is provided with grooves 9 facilitating manual control of the adjustment movement. In addition, split along one of its generators and fitted at this location with small clamps 10, it can be wedged in the adjustment position obtained, thanks to a butterfly head screw 11.

   The base of the ring b obviously does not reach the same level as the working base of the grinding wheel 4 in order to avoid friction on the worked surface.

   However, this grinding wheel 4 wears more or less rapidly depending on its hardness and that of the workpiece. This is why the ring 8 is provided for adjustable in height so that a suitable space can be continuously maintained between the workpiece and said ring 8.

   On the other hand, this ring is easily removable or even can be screwed very strongly upwards, which allows the use of the grinding wheel without dust suction.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   On the perimeter of the hood itself 7, an opening 32 is provided allowing the introduction of a key for removing the grinding wheel 4 and its support 3, without having to dismantle the ring 8 or the hood 7. Such a key will keep axis 6 fixed while unscrewing the grinding wheel 'and its support. A small pivoting door 33 will close this opening 32 while the apparatus is in use.

   At the top of the hood 7 is provided a dust suction outlet 12, connected by flexible tubing to the vacuum cleaner controlled by the motor.

   In the case of sawing discs or roller grinders, a suction casing 13 of the type shown in FIGS will be used.

  3 and 4 which are mounted on the grinding wheel axle. In the case of roller grinding wheels, this casing must obviously be provided with a greater width than that shown.

   The casing is provided with a chamber 14 for collecting dust which has an opening towards the outside in the form of a mouthpiece 15 on which the dust suction pipe will be fixed. As the dust is therefore projected into chamber 14, it is immediately sucked through the mouth 15 and into the suction pipe, towards the vacuum cleaner itself.

   The production of this casing with one of its lateral faces open allows the grinding wheels to be disassembled without having to first remove said casing, the latter being fixed, on the side where it is closed, to the grinding wheel holder handle facing at any level.

   In Figure 5 is shown the whole of a grinding apparatus with dust vacuum device and reservoir placed at the top.

   The assembly essentially comprises the motor 16, the vacuum cleaner 17, the flexible grinding wheel drive shaft 18, the suction pipe 19, the suction hood 20, a pipe.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 discharge 21, joining the vacuum cleaner 17 to the tank 22.

   The pipe 21 has a larger section than the pipe 19 so as to reduce the speed of the air laden with dust before entering the tank. This same pipe 21 ends tangentially at the tank 22 so that the dust-laden air acquires at its entry into this tank 22 a cyclonic movement which will moreover be at least partially stopped by the end of the pipe 21 which is for this purpose will protrude into said reservoir 22.

   At each end of the latter, chambers 23 are provided for removing dust from the air which can escape through openings 24 provided for this purpose in the casing of the chambers. These are lined internally with filter cloths 25 which will trap dust and the base of which hangs outside the dust chambers in the form of inspection bags 26.

   Figure 7 shows an embodiment similar to that of Figure 5 but in which the dust collection tank is provided at the base of the assembly and can serve as a support for all the equipment, wheels 27 and arms 28 being provided for moving.

   The piping, starting from the vacuum cleaner, will end at the cover 29 of the tank 22 and the air laden with dust will leave the latter on the filtering fabrics provided for this purpose in said tank and will escape, for example, at the lower part of the tank.

   So as to make the device itself orientable without having to move the tank, to the cover 29 is preferably fixed an axis 30 which can pivot in a catch 31 provided in the bottom of the tank. The same cover, in this case, will be mounted with baffles on the reservoir so as to form a pneumatic seal.

   The base of the tank will preferably be frustoconical so as to facilitate the evacuation of dust during cleaning.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 of the tank. It is also possible, for the same purpose, to provide the tank cover in two parts.

   It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described above and that many modifications can be made thereto, without departing from the scope of the present patent application.
