    CONSTRUCTION.OF VEHICLES.

Until now, the construction of vehicles has consisted in a known manner in producing a frame on which the covering was fixed, possibly divided into different constituent parts.

The object of the present invention is to indicate a form of construction which, in the first place, economizes on the establishment of the frame.

In this way, not only is the assembly of the entire construction considerably simplified, but any repairs can also be carried out more easily. In addition, the weight of the construction is greatly reduced and the storage of parts considerably simplified. According to the invention, this object is achieved by bringing together the contact edges, forming an angle, of each component part of the covering and thus producing a stiffening side.

Even without taking into account the simplified assembly which is carried out only by bringing the constituent parts together and the ease of repairs which are carried out simply by replacing said parts, the advantage of the invention also lies in the fact that it can be applied regardless of the length of the construction.

Between the edges folded at an angle of the constituent parts of the covering, a wooden or fiber batten is advantageously interposed which is surrounded inside the vehicle by said edges and covered on the outside by a metal joint cover. This intermediate batten serves both to increase the moment of resistance and to allow the fixing of the joint cover.

In addition, it is advantageous to make the transverse junction, between the edges folded at an angle and the intermediate batten, by means of screws which are supported on both sides on elastic washers inserted between them. These washers are placed with their edge exactly in the angle, so that when retightening the screws, an immediate tension is exerted.

on the exterior cladding. In this way it is possible to stretch the outer constituent parts of the covering towards each other and to adjust them by tightening or loosening the nuts, as well as to balance any tensions which would cause dents in the outer covering. .

In addition, it is possible to compensate for the narrowing of the intermediate batten by tightening the nuts. The spring washers also provide security for the nuts.

One embodiment, given by way of non-limiting example, is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a side view, partially in section, of the construction.

Fig 2 shows a cross section of the stiffening.

The covering is formed by the constituent parts 1 and 2. These parts are provided with folded longitudinal edges 3 and 4. Between said edges is arranged the wooden batten 5. The latter is surrounded inside the vehicle by the ends 6 and 7 of the edges. From the outside, the wooden batten 5 and the contact points of the two parts 1 and 2 are covered by a metal joint cover 8 which is fixed by means of screws 9 to the wooden batten 5.

The transverse junction between the edges 3 and-4 and the wooden batten 5 is effected by means of the threaded bolts 10. The elastic washers 11 are interposed below the heads and nuts of the said bolts.

The washers are placed in such a way that their edge 12 rests in the angle formed between the edges 3 and 4 and the coating 1 or 2.

In this way it is possible to join together both the side walls of the vehicle and its roof.
