1 PROCEDE D EPURATION :DES JUS BRUTS OU SIROP!µ DES SUGEREIRS DE BETTERAVES

1 DEPURATION PROCESS: RAW JUICES OR SYRUP! Μ BEET SUGERES
OR - CANNES, U REFINERIES, GLUCOSE FACTORIES
The invention relates to a process for purifying raw juices or syrups from beet or cane sugar factories, refineries or glucose plants.
1 / invention is characterized by the fact that the juice, which has first been limed, is subjected to carbonation before being filtered, this known treatment being followed by incorporation of alumina bisulphite in the juice, from a separation of the precipitate obtained and from the treatment of the juice thus purified by ion exchangers.
After the juice or sugar syrups, limed according to the usual methods, have been treated in the first carbonation, they are filtered at normal temperature (85) and the filtrate is treated with alkaline or neutral sulphites or with bisulphites. remarkable results when using alumina bisulphite (SO3) 3 (AlH) 2 For this purpose, we bring the filtered juice, which generally has an alkalinity of 1.20 gr to 1.50 gr per liter ( expressed as CaO), at the boiling point and a concentrated solution of alumina bisulfite sufficient to give the juice an alkalinity of 0.18 gr per liter (expressed as CaO) is then incorporated therein.
The boiling of the juices is continued for about a minute after which they are filtered to rid them of the precipitate of organic impurities which is very filtering. A clear liquid is thus obtained which is more discolored than the juices treated with the usual sulphites.
The analysis of this juice shows a gain in purity which varies, depending on the years and the qualities of the initial materials treated, from 2.5 to 5 points compared to those which have not undergone this treatment.

The discolored juice free from organic impurities, whatever its initial (80 to 85) or final (83 to 90) degree of purity, is very particularly suitable, being obtained in the manner indicated above,
to the final purification treatment with ion exchangers (cation and / or anion exchangers) formed and used, cold, in the usual manner. The juice obtained after this treatment is absolutely colorless and shows a purity of between 99.5 and 99.7 depending on the nature and quality of the active materials used as ion exchangers.
