  MOISSONNEUSE-BATTEUSE A VENTILATEUR, SERVANT NOTAMMENT A L'EXPULSION DES
BALLES.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

La figure 1 est une vue latérale d'une moissonneuse-batteuse com- portant un collecteur à balles suivant l'invention;
La figure 2 est une vue postérieure de la machine de la figure   1;
La figure 3 est une vue latérale d'une moissonneuse-batteuse com- portant un collecteur à balles de variante ;
La figure   4   est une vue en plan du collecteur suivant la figure 3;
La figure 5 est une vue en plan du cadre d'acier de l'exemple des figures 3 et   4,   dans la position inactive;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 12,   13,  14.

   REVENDICATIONS.

  FAN COMBINE, USED IN PARTICULAR FOR THE EXPULSION OF
BALLS.

    In threshing machines, it is necessary to make special arrangements for the evacuation of the balls. In the stationary threshers used previously, the bales were sucked by a ventilareur, driven back into a pipe and transported apse of this one to a determined deposit place, located at a certain distance from the threshing machine.

   This arrangement is not suitable for combines due to the continual movement of these machines. Therefore, it is customary in these to expel the balls into the field. This method, which results in the loss of balls still susceptible of interesting use, is not advantageous.

   Moreover, the bales contain a high proportion of weed seeds, the spreading of which on fields is particularly undesirable.
The invention aims to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks and to establish a combine harvester making it possible to collect the bales in their totality.
According to the invention this problem is solved by the fact that the discharge pipe of the bale fan terminates in a manifold preferably joined laterally to the combine.

   Preferably, the bale collector extends the entire length of the machine and is located on the feed side thereof, where it can form a counterweight for the bagging device disposed on the other side of this machine. According to an advantageous embodiment, the bale collector is provided with running rollers which move in suitable guide rails provided on the roof of the machine. Thanks to these rails, the collector can, in view of its commissioning, leave the position it occupies on the roof of the machine during transport, descend over the edge of the tpit to one side.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 of this machine and be detained there.

   The discharge pipe coming from the fan is provided with a movable connection elbow through which it can be connected to the bale collector in the service position of the latter.

  The side of the manifold, which is at the top in the service position, is provided with vent holes.

   The manifold is preferably constructed as a flattened, box-shaped sheet metal drum which extends over the entire side surface of the machine. It can consist of several sections which can be emptied together or separately by one or more valves provided on the lower narrow side. The emptying will be done on piles arranged in the field or using bags, according to the circumstances. In a variant, the collector is constituted by a rubberized fabric, stretched over a series of frames provided on the side surfaces of the combine.

   The collector thus formed using the rubberized fabric can be made in one or more parts, the division in this case preferably affecting the part of the fabric located on the outside. The rear wall, facing the machine, of the rubberized fabric manifold, is preferably permanently attached to the side wall of this machine, while the part, bulging laterally on the frames and which is joined at the bottom to the wall rear by closing devices - and suspended at the top by means of eyelets, can be raised or removed after separation of the closing devices. This allows all the bales to be emptied downwards.

   So that the protruding parts of the frames do not interfere when not in use, they are made to pivot, so that they can be raised against the side wall of the machine and locked in this position, after we will have raised the rubberized outer cover. Preferably, when not in use, the removable outer part of the tarpaulin is completely raised and placed on the roof of the machine, where it does not interfere with transport. In the case of a rubberized fabric collector or tarpaulin, the necessary vent holes are formed by openings embedded in the tarpaulin.

   The establishment of the collector in the form of a tarpaulin offers the advantage of particularly easy handling. It goes without saying that the collectors described above can also be used to collect chaffs, seeds, etc.

   The accompanying drawings show two examples of bale collectors according to the invention:
Figure 1 is a side view of a combine harvester comprising a bale collector according to the invention;
Figure 2 is a rear view of the machine of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a side view of a combine harvester including an alternative bale collector;
Figure 4 is a plan view of the manifold according to Figure 3;
Figure 5 is a plan view of the steel frame of the example of Figures 3 and 4, in the inactive position;
Figure 6 is a rear view of the machine of Figure 3
In these figures, 1 designates a combine harvester of common construction, with only one axle 2.

   The machine is hitched at 3 to a tractor not shown. 4 designates the separators used to embrace the wheat which is then cut by the cutting bar not shown, to be then driven, with the help of the reel 5, on a conveyor, towards the combine harvester.

  1, as shown in figure 2 where the grain coming from threshing is poured into bags 6 on the left side of the machine, while the straw, tied in sheaves, is ejected backwards on the grid 7.

   The aspiration of the bales is ensured by a fan $ which forces them towards the expulsion tube 9. According to the invention, the latter opens into a bale collector 10 provided on the supply side of the machine, s 'extending over the entire length thereof and consisting of sections 11,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 12, 13, 14.

   The side of the collector 10, which is at the top during filling is provided with openings 15 for the exit of the purified air. The balls accumulate on the bottom of the collector 10, from where they can be evacuated at intervals by opening a valve 16 provided for each compartment separately or common to all the compartments.

   At the end of the threshing, the collector 10, provided with running rollers 20, is brought by means of the rails 17, into position 18 on the roof of the machine, shown in figure 2, position in which it is wedged by clutch blocks 21 or the like. The connection between the expulsion pipe 9 and the collector 10 is provided by a pivoting and removable tubular elbow 19, which can be moved away from the collector 10 during the movement of the latter.

   In the example of FIGS. 3 to 6, the collector, instead of being made of sheet metal, is established in a rubberized fabric 20 stretched over several frames 21 articulated to supports 29 fixed to the side wall of the combine 1 The cover 20 may be in one piece, or else its upper edge may have a seal at 22 for example. The rear wall 23 of the tarpaulin, turned towards the machine, is preferably fixed to a tensioning frame 30, held by the supports 29, while the outer part 24, convex on the steel frames 21 and which must be divided according to the spacing of these frames., is joined to the rear wall of the tarpaulin by separable closing devices 25 and, once these have been released, can be raised or removed from the hooks provided in 22.

   During this raising, the possible content of the bale collector is emptied downwards, which can be done at intervals during threshing. When the collector is not in use, its part 24 can be placed on the roof 26 of the machine 1, where it disturbs the least. The outwardly projecting frames 21 are pivotally mounted at 27 on the supports 29 and can, when not in use, pivot about 90 towards the side wall of the machine and be locked therein. position as shown in figure 5, so that they do not constitute an obstacle during transport. The steel frames 21 provided at the ends of the manifold have a fixed closing wall 31 which can be made of sheet metal.

   The air openings required for the bale collector 20 may, in the case of a rubberized fabric, be steel screens 28 inserted into the fabric.

   As indicated above, the collectors according to the invention can be used not only for bales, but also for chaff, seeds, etc.
