TRANSPORTEUR, A BANDE .DE.TISSU A BARRES APPLIQUEES., PARTICULIEREMENT
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

CONVEYOR, WITH BELT. OF.FABRIC WITH APPLIED BARS., ESPECIALLY
EMI1.1
FOR'MOSSONNEUSES + BIEUSES: eMOrS & ThmEU-BATTEUSES.
The present invention relates to applied conveyor bar belt conveyors, as used particularly in agricultural machinery, for example reapers-binders, combine harvesters and the like. Its purpose is to provide a gap-free connection between the conveyor belt and the bar, to prevent parts of the transported material, for example strands from being attached under the bar or winding up. around it.
As is known, the conveyor bars are fixed on the conveyor belt in order to assemble them with the latter, by gluing, nailing or riveting.
However, practice has shown that the bond of the bars loosens somewhat over time during service, so that a gap is formed between the strip and the bar. This then occurs particularly frequently when the belt passes around small conveying cylinders. This drawback often results in the case of conveyor belts, binders and combines, that twigs are slide between the bar and the band and wrap around the bars. This greatly hinders the work of transporting the strip and requires that it be freed more frequently of twigs which are stuck there. It is not uncommon for twigs stuck in this way to even cause a bar to break.
To remedy this drawback, it has been proposed to provide on the lower side of the conveyor bars a longitudinal hollow groove into which the strip is retracted during the application of the bars. In the known embodiments of this kind, it is however necessary to mount on the underside of the fabric a counter bar or a transverse beam ;, But even in spite of this precaution, it has not been possible to prevent that during the service it forms between the band and a cylinder or Inside the bar fixing points there are interstices in which the strands are placed as before.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The mentioned defects are essentially remedied according to the invention by virtue of an intermediate layer interposed between the strip and the bar and narrower than the latter, preferably of rounded cross section and forming a filling. The intermediate layer provides in each case a gap-free bond between the strip and the bar, and prevents parts of the transported material from slipping between the attachment points of the bars and becoming attached to them. This feature on the one hand reduces wear on the belt conveyor while on the other hand. In addition, as mentioned previously, it is no longer necessary to rid the transporter of the parts of the transported material which are stuck there, an operation which required a lot of time.
In addition, the intermediate layer creates a bond whereby significantly higher shear forces can be transmitted from the bars to the conveyor belt. When in the case of the new arrangement the conveyor web of fabric is led around small diameter conveyor rolls, the sides of the conveyor bars rise, it is true, somewhat from the web, but in the longitudinal mid-plane of the belt. bar, a gap-free connection nevertheless remains as before between the strip and the bar.
The twigs wedged between the strip and the sides of the bars can at most penetrate up to the intermediate layer, since this prevents the parts of the transported material from slipping under the bar. . Consequently, the parts of the transported material which would adhere fall again from the belt, because they cannot stay below the bar. It is still important that the conveyor belt remains constantly extended and that its length cannot therefore change during operation. The detail of the shape and arrangement of the intermediate layer forming the subject of the invention is not linked to a specific embodiment.
It is, however, advantageous that the intermediate layer forms a constituent element of the fabric and engages, to form a stuffing, in a longitudinal groove located on the lower side of the conveyor bar, which is fixed to the fabric in the usual way, ie. 'that is to say by means of crampons. However, the intermediate bar could also be a constituent element of the conveyor bar. It is also possible to make the intermediate layer separately and to connect it afterwards to the strip or to the bar. Instead, the intermediate layer can also be shaped in the conveyor belt itself, for example in the form of a loop, which is preferably tightened by a seam in such a way that it a bulge forms above the constriction which fills the back of the throat.
Further, the middle layer may be made of the same material or another material as the strip, and it could for example be made of an elastic stuffing material, such as for example rubber, leather or the like. In the case of strips of textile material, a cord sewn, glued or otherwise connected to the strip would suffice. In the case of rubber bands, the intermediate layer could be vulcanized onto the band. The groove provided in the conveyor bar is preferably disposed in the longitudinal median plane of the bar.
Further, the groove and the middle layer have approximately the same length and are preferably located on both sides slightly back from the end of the bar so that the conveyor bar can be riveted at both ends to the bar. conveyor belt. In order to increase the stuffing effect of the intermediate layer, it is also proposed to adapt the cross section of the groove to the profile of the intermediate layer.
Two exemplary embodiments illustrate the invention in the drawing.
Figure 1 is a partial cross section of the belt conveyor in connection with a conveyor roll.
Figure 2 is a top view of the underside of the conveyor bar while Figure 3 shows another embodiment of the belt conveyor in partial cross section.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the attached drawing, 1 represents the conveyor belt which is provided with applied conveyor bars 2, and passes over conveyor rolls 3. Between the belt 1 and the bar 2 is arranged an intermediate layer 4 which for example is formed. of a cord with a circular cross section and is stitched on the strip 1. The intermediate layer 4 engages in the manner of a stuffing in the longitudinal groove 5 formed in the bar 2, and the bottom of the groove is at this effect adapted to the cross section of the intermediate layer 4. The bars are fixed in a manner known per se to the strip 1, for example by means of studs 6.
So that the bars 2 can be riveted at their two ends also on the strip 1, the intermediate layer 4 and the groove 5 are shorter, at their two ends, than the conveyor bar 2. In the embodiment according to figure 3, the intermediate layer is formed by a fold or a loop 7 of the conveyor belt which can be obtained for example by a seam, so that a constriction is formed at 8 and above the latter, a bead which fills the back of the throat.
