 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  AUTOMATIC MACHINE, TO WASH AND SPIN.

   The invention described in the main patent relates to an automatic washing and spinning machine which automatically performs all the washing and spinning operations, including heating the main laundry bath and the simultaneous introduction of the washing and drying operations. washing and bleaching agents Such a machine, which comprises a fixed outer basket and a rotating inner basket, is applicable in particular to industrial uses, that is to say to uses for which there are generally available uses. hot water or for which the preparation of hot water does not present any difficulties o
The present invention relates to a washing machine according to the main patent, improved in such a way that it can be applied to domestic uses,

   without requiring hot water piping.

   To this end, the machine according to the invention now only comprises a supply pipe for the cold water supply; at the same time, however, we equip it with heating elements that are organized and arranged in such a way as to be able to heat the water coming from the pipe to the temperatures required, both for the preliminary washing and for the main wash In order to avoid the premature switching on of the heating elements, which are preferably controlled by means of a regulator having only an indicative value, there is placed in the circuit of the heating elements a switch to float,

   which can only close the circuit when the water in the washing basket has reached a sufficiently high level o This ensures that the laundry to be washed will not be burnt or otherwise damaged if the washing machine is stopped. water supply.

   Since in the washing machine for domestic use according to the present invention, the washing agent, when introduced

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 tion in the machine, only comes into contact with water, which initially at least is in a cold state, and therefore dissolves only slowly, the machine according to the invention further comprises means which accelerate the dissolution of the washing agent and which keep any undissolved washing agent away from the laundry to be washed.

   This is achieved by the fact that the washing agent inlet opening is no longer cleared from the top of the outer basket, but laterally, so that the washing agent is located. introduced into the water in the space between the outer and inner baskets where it is dissolved by the beating of the inner basket.

   In the drawing which shows by way of nonlimiting example an embodiment of the invention:
Fig. 1 is a view taken from the side through which the machine is driven.

   Fig. 2 is a sectional side view of the machine.

   Fig 3 is a plan view, partially in section.

   According to the invention, the washing machine consists essentially of the inner basket 1, mounted in a star support 10 so as to be able to rotate therein; inner basket 1, which is surrounded by outer basket 2, is securely connected to motor 15 by means of V-belt pulley 12, V-belt 13 and return pulley 16. To the outer basket 2, a device 37 is connected, which has only been shown schematically in the drawing and which controls the valve for discharging the washing liquid.

   In order to be able, in all cases, to avoid premature switching on of the heating elements 27, a switch 39, controlled by a float 38, is placed in the circuit of the latter, this switch only closing the circuit when the liquid has reached in basket 2 a sufficiently high level:, The switch 39 can also be organized as a double switch and it can thus simultaneously control the inlet valve 8, cutting the circuit leading to the latter as soon as the water has reached a level determined and thereby interrupting the cold water supply.

   In order to accelerate the dissolution of the washing agent which dissolves relatively poorly in cold water and in order to keep it away from the laundry to be washed, as long as it is in the initial undissolved state, the washing agent inlet 3 is placed laterally on the outer basket 2. This has the advantage that from this point the washing agent can fall directly into the water. which lies between the outer and inner baskets, where it is first dissolved as a result of the beating of the inner basket, and only then is directed, in the form of dissolved detergent, to the laundry to be washed.
