<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Selon un mode de réalisation particulièrement avantageux, la car- de formant l'objet de la présente invention est constituée par les éléments suivants,convenablement répartis sur un bâti approprié; - un grand tambour cardeur tournant., entouré, aux parties supé- rieure et inférieure, par des groupes de chapeaux cardeurs marchants - du ty- pe connu - commandés par un train d'engrenages et par des roues coniques ou hélicoïdales travaillant dans un bain d'huile, dans un boîtier approprié;
- deux groupes réducteurs, également contenus dans un boîtier à bain d'huile, pour la transmission du mouvement à la boite de commande des chapeaux tournants et aux rouleaux débourreurs, au cylindre introducteur et, au moyen de mécanismes de renvoi ou trains d'engrenages, au cylindre déchar- geur, à l'organe peigneur, aux rouleaux d'alimentation, au rouleau dérouleur cannelé et au plateau du collecteur, et pour la commande de la calandre rai- nurée et de la calandre lisse amenant le ruban de fibres cardées au pot à ruban ; - un groupe aspirateur de la poussière et collecteur des fibres courtes ou déchets,avec aspirateur tournant, situéà l'avant de la comman- de des chapeaux marchants; - un moteur électrique pour la commande de la machine;

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

WALKING HAT CARD FOR COTTON AND OTHER FIBERS OF THIS KIND,
WITH INCREASED CARDAGE ZONE.
The object of the present invention is a carding machine with walking hats for cotton and other fibers of this kind, with an increased carding zone, which is obtained by means of carding hats walking in a converging or non-converging direction, with upper and lower parts, more than three-quarters of the peripheral surface of the large carding drum, with entry and exit from the same side, so that all mechanisms, controls and transmissions are centralized on one side of the machine, which system tends to perform the process of carding cotton textile fibers and the like for production.
considerably increased compared to that of conventional carding machines, while making the work of the worker easier, in that he can control the entry and exit of the material to be carded at one stroke.
It is known that in the methods currently applied with cards of the current type, carding is carried out in such a way that the carding surface or zone of the large rotating carding drum is limited to approximately one third of the peripheral surface. of this: drum.
In addition, the cotton webs coming from the beaters (canvas) being arranged on the unwinding rollers and on the feed cylinder located at one end of the machine, the cotton which has passed through the carding zone is received by the unloader and passes to the collector, unloader and collector, both of which are always located in the part of the card opposite to that of supply.
While meeting the intended purposes, current carding machines however have the drawback of using only a limited carding surface of the large rotating carding drum, the walking caps surrounding only a limited part of said drum, and they have the inconvenience that the worker is obliged to move many times, from one side of the card to the other, for the control operations on the inputs and outputs, the parts concerned being arranged at diametrically opposed places.
Therefore, the carding machines currently in use have
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a very limited productive capacity for carding, not to mention the inconvenience represented by the continual movement of the worker during the various control operations.
The object of the present invention is a carding machine with walking hats, for cotton and the like, which tends to produce a carding zone which is increased with respect to the peripheral surface of the large rotating carding drum, given that it is provided around said carding drum. drum and on more than three quarters of its peripheral surface, the sliding of the walking hats above and below the large drum, which makes it possible to obtain an absolutely superior capacity for carding the textile fibers.
In addition, the engine ,. the control members of the large drum, as well as those of the walking hats, and all the mechanisms relating to the movement of the introduction and feed members for the fibers, namely: combers, brewers, strippers, unloaders, cotton guides because - thimble and, finally, dust extractors and separators of the short fibers and the waste expelled by the caps, are suitably centralized in the machine, which facilitates the control and even the operation of the machine.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, the card forming the object of the present invention consists of the following elements, suitably distributed over a suitable frame; - a large rotating carding drum, surrounded, at the upper and lower parts, by groups of walking carding caps - of the known type - controlled by a train of gears and by bevel or helical wheels working in a bath oil, in a suitable housing;
- two reduction groups, also contained in an oil bath housing, for the transmission of movement to the control box of the rotating bonnets and to the stripping rollers, to the introducer cylinder and, by means of return mechanisms or gear trains , to the discharge cylinder, to the combing member, to the feed rollers, to the corrugated unwinding roller and to the collector plate, and for the control of the corrugated calender and the smooth calender feeding the ribbon of carded fibers to the ribbon pot; - a dust suction unit and short fiber or waste collector, with rotating vacuum cleaner, located at the front of the control of the hats; - an electric motor for controlling the machine;
- "Ferrodo" friction plates or discs for engaging and disengaging the machine control, which can be operated by hand.
Variants applied either to the oscillating comb, with a view to generating a combing action always tangent to the stripping cylinder over a larger area, or to the transmission shaft controlling the movement of the cylinder will be discussed more explicitly below. scallop, comb and calenders, by applying an automatic friction clutch device. Other variants relate to the application of a joint, which can be actuated by hand, for the engagement and disengagement of the movement of the feed cylinders and of a system with movable counterweights, rem-. placing the fixed feed tray.
The accompanying drawings illustrate, by way of example only, and without any limiting aim, one form of construction and application of the machine which is the subject of the present invention.

Figure 6 is a perspective view of the movable counterweights disrupting the attached feed tray.
According to Figure 1, a frame 1 carries the fixed secondary structure 2 and the supports of the large rotary carding drum 3, of known type.
Walking hats 4 and 5 - also of known type - which respectively surround the upper part and the lower part of the large drum, are controlled by: a set of helical wheels 6, 7 and 8, with worm screws 9 and 10, the bevel gears 11 and 12, and. the shaft 130
A pair of bevel gears 14 and 15 and a pair of toothed wheels 16 and 17, with chain 18, drive the stripper rollers 19 and 20.
All these rotating members, mounted on ball or roller bearings, are fitted in a sealed box, in an oil bath, and controlled by a cardan transmission 21.
A sealed reduction box, in an oil bath, enclosing the set of wheels 22, 23, 24 and the bevel gears 25, 26, 27 and 28, serves to transmit the movement of the shaft 29 to the cardan transmission 21 .
A second reduction box, also sealed and in an oil bath, which contains the train of helical toothed wheels 30, 31, and 32, endless wash 34 and bevel gears 35, 36 37 and 38, receives the movement. pulley 39 and transmits it to the shaft 29, controlling the first gearbox, to the vertical shaft 40, which carries the friction clutch 41 with automatic and manual control, and to the shaft cardan shaft 42, which, via the worm 43 and the helical wheel 44, controls the plate carrying the ribbon pot 45.
The members of said reduction boxes are also mounted on ball or roller bearings.
A cylinder 46 - of known type - for the introduction of fibers, which rotates in the same direction as the large drum and is controlled by the latter by means of a suitable transmission with the aid of the pulley 47 and. the belt 48 transmits the movement to the pulley 39 of the second reduction box.
The shaft 40, by means of the friction clutch 41, transmits the movement to the shaft 49, which controls, with the toothed reduction group 50, 51 and 52, the shaft 53, which, by the pair of helical wheels 54, 55, controls the rotation of the splined unwinding roller 56 and, by the helical toothed wheel 58 and the worm 57, the shaft 59, which, in turn, transmits the train movement of the pinions 60 and 61 and the sprockets 62, 63, 64, 65 and 66, actuating the feed cylinders 67, 68 and 69.
The extension of the shaft 49 transmits the movement, through the intermediary of the pair of bevel wheels 70 and 71, to the horizontal shaft 72. The latter controls, by the worm 73 and the wheel helical 74, the rotation of the unloader 75, of known type, and, by the pair of bevel wheels 76 and 77, the gear train 78, 79 and 80, which actuate the oscillating and eccentric arm 81 carrying , at its upper end, the comb 82, held by the articulated end of the arm 83, which oscillates on the axis of the unloader.
Finally, by means of the pair of helical wheels 84., and 85 and of the pair of bevel gears 86 and 87, the shaft 72 respectively controls the grooved shell 88, which serves to form the strip, by the 'intermediary of the shaft 89 and the toothed wheels 90 and 91, and the calender 92, which conveys the tape to the tape container 45, thanks to the pair of bevel gears 93 and 94 and the toothed wheels 95 and 96.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
A profile cover 97 serves to cover said calender-92 ,,
All the rotating transmission and control units are mounted on ball or roller bearings.,
An electric motor 98 controls, via the belt 99, the large drum and, consequently, all the rotating parts of the machine, by a "Ferrodo" friction disc clutch, placed in a truncated box of the pulley to. friction 100 of the large drum shaft 3.
According to Figures 2 and 3, the motor 98 operates, by means of the stepped pulley 101, no. only the large drum 3 by the belt 102, but also the ventila-. vacuum cleaner 103, located inside the frame 104, which supports the motor.
A tube 105, containing a fabric filter hose 106, is connected either with the vacuum cleaner or with the pipe 107, being in communication with the fixed tube 108, the longitudinal cavity of which is oriented towards the stripper. 20 and which is concentric with the perforated rotating tube 109, controlled by the motor 98, by means of a geared speed reduction train enclosed in the sealed box 110 and placed below the group of stripper cylinders 19 and 200
By a roller rod 111, which rotates, with friction, the perforated rotating tube 109, the short fibers or waste, expelled by the walking caps, in the form of a sheet, are brought to the rod 112, supported by the arms. 113 and 113 ',
on which said fibers or waste are wound
The movement of the cotton fibers and the carding cycle on the machine forming the subject of the present invention are as follows:
The cotton web (canvas) placed on the ribbed unwinding roller 56, located on the same side of the unloading cylinder 75, is taken up by the supply cylinders 67, 68 and 69, and passed over the introducing cylinder 46 and on the large rotating carding drum 3.
On this one, the carding surface of which is occupied, for more than three quarters, by the walking caps 4 and 5, which turn in a converging direction or not and surrounding said surface at the upper part and at the lower part, the carded cotton passes to go to the unloader 75, located above the feeding group, is combed by the oscillating comb 82, is guided towards the grooved calender 88 and arrives, in the form of a ribbon, at the calender 92 , which sends it to the ribbon pot 45, located below.
At the same time, the short fibers or waste, expelled by the carding caps, are brought to the stripping rollers 19 and 20, sucked by the rotating perforated tube 109, by vacuum, and directed towards the rod
112 of the vacuum unit, located below the stripping roller, on which they are wound
The vacuum cleaner 103 removes dust from the cotton fibers by means of the fixed tube 108, concentric with the rotating perforated tube 109, the line 107 and the tube 105 as well as the filter hose 1060
If we consider figure 4, illustrating the variant of the oscillating sector, we see that:
the shaft 114 is the motor shaft, which carries the eccentric 114 ', rotating in the head of the connecting rod 81,. which, while oscillating, lifting and lowering with its eyelet 115, makes a arc path to the journal 116 of the bar 117, carrying the comb 82, along the periphery of the unloading cylinder 75, where simultaneously pivots the eyelet of the connecting rod 83, the head 118 of which oscillates on the axis 119 of the unloading cylinder - size 750

The cylinders 67, 68, 69, serving to feed the introducer cylinder 46, are rotated by a suitable gear train (not shown in the drawing), controlled by the bevel torque 60 and 61, by the rear - short motion transmitter 59 and by a pair of helical toothed wheels 57 and 58, actuating said shaft 59.
A sliding sleeve coupling 120, with ball clutch, which can be operated by hand, is provided on the shaft 590
An angled lever 121, oscillating on its fixed axis 122, carries, at the upper part, the feed cylinder 68 and, at the lower part, the fork 123, which acts on the rod 124 at each oscillation ddul @ - lever driven by the ascent or descent of the cylinder 68.
The movement of the rod 124, via the angled lever 125, pivoting on the journal 126, of the rod 127 'and' of the fork 128, is transformed into an action of controlling ordinary friction at 41. , .for the clutch and disengagement of the shaft 49 relative to the transmission shaft 40, under the control of the movement of the unloading cylinder, the comb and the calenders of the machine.
A feed table 129 has the supporting ridge bar 130, on which pivot the movable feed counterweights 131, 131 ', 131 ", etc., interposed between the table 129 and the feed cylinder. - tion 69 and adjacent, at their upper part, to the outer surface of cylinder 69, from which they are spaced at an interval fixed and adjusted beforehand by adjusting screws 132, 132 ', 132 ", etc ... , located under table 1290 - @ @
It is obvious that when the star web) transported by the feed rollers 67, 68, 69 to the introducer roll 46,
when its passage between the two cylinders 67 and 68 is prevented by the presence of bumps, for example knots, the cylinder 68 tends to rise and its movement is transmitted to the kinematic assembly of the levers 121 and 125 and the rods 124 and 127, in order to determine the automatic stopping of the movement, until the obstacle is removed by hand, after which the descent of the cylinder 68 automatically engages the friction clutch and. , therefore, the resumption of movement.
When the roughness of the web can pass between the cylinders 67 and 68, the web is able to pass also under the feed cylinder 69, since given the arrangement of the movable counterweights 131, 131, 131 ", etc. ...;, instead of a fixed feed plate or plate, only the mobile counterweight affected by the obstacle will descend.
In the exceptional case of several asperities or nodes interposing between 'the' movable counterweight and the feed cylinder, these protuberances block and stop the movement of the feed rollers and, consequently, the whole of the feed rollers. food; to ensure this stopping, the drive shaft is disengaged by acting on the coupling 120 by hand.
As soon as the obstacles created by the asperities or knots have been removed under the cylinder 69, action will be taken on said coupling to reestablish the operation of the sheet; after which, to obtain the consequent movement of the feed cylinders 67, 68 and 69, the cylinder 69 will be rotated by hand, for its positioning, using a small flywheel provided on the age of said cylinder.
The aforementioned means will be accompanied by complementary bodies, more or less coordinated, whose presence will be 'Justified by the possible requirements of construction and application, without fooling, for that, the framework of the invention and therefore within the scope of the industrial protection claimed,
