PERFECTIONNEMENTS AUX MOYENS D'EVACUATION DE PRODUITS DANS DES APPAREILS OU INSTADLATIONS DE TRAITEMENT HUMIDE DE MINERAIS, CHARBONS, OU AUTRES MATIERES
GRANULAIRES.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
REVENDICATIONS.

IMPROVEMENTS IN THE MEANS OF EVACUATION OF PRODUCTS IN EQUIPMENT OR INSTALLATIONS FOR WET TREATMENT OF ORE, COAL, OR OTHER MATERIALS
GRANULAR.
The invention relates to the evacuation of products in apparatus or installations for the wet treatment of ores, coals, or other granular materials.
In a previous patent of the applicant, n 455,896 of May 20, 1944 for "Improvements to the means for, in the wash-houses for coals, ores and the like, to remove the products, in particular granular, separated", it is proposed, to remove such products, from a classified washing bed, using cones or the like, reestablish these cones with a discharge opening of largely sufficient dimensions to allow the largest particles which may be present in them to pass unhindered. products separated from the bed, and to create at the discharge opening of these cones, a supported buffer, formed by a free mass of discharged material, closing the discharge opening, while the discharge from this buffer is discharged quantity of material corresponding to the desired discharge.
By these means we satisfy the essential conditions for a good functioning of the wash-houses, namely to work at full level so as to avoid disturbances of the washing bed, and to evacuate normally particles of abnormal shapes and dimensions which meet each other. always in slime or muddy products separated from a classified bed.
The need to avoid disturbances in a classification or separation process and, more generally, in a wet treatment of granular materials, is not limited to the cases mentioned above, and the present invention is aimed at other applications in which , to this end, the evacuation must be ensured by devices working at full level; in particular the invention relates to the extraction of the products in the concentrator panes.
Until now, the concentrates resulting from the treatment in the pans have either been collected in 'pockets from which they are taken up or
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
intermittent discharges, or else evacuated using norias, partially flooded screws or tanbours, cell wheels or the like.
The recoveries in, or the intermittent discharges of collecting bags require permanent monitoring, and in norias or screw evacuators, drum or honeycomb wheel, the treated materials cause such wear to the organs that this method of evacuation is not very economical; In addition, the situation of the installations frequently poses the problem of replacing worn components.
In this application, and similar applications, the invention overcomes such drawbacks by reliably allowing the continuous evacuation of the products using a simple device, the organs of which are small. subject to wear, and easy and inexpensive replacement,
In accordance with the invention, there is associated with the outlet of the products from an enclosure or processing apparatus, in particular from a concentrator pan, a vertical-shaped duct, which may be cylindrical, or conical, or partially conical. and, at a short distance below the lower end of this duct, a support is placed, so that the products occupying the duct come to rest on this support in a mass delimited by their natural slope, the support and the lower end of the pipe,
thus closing the latter.
The support is preferably inclined, and better, organized so as to be able to be placed under different inclinations; the duct can be formed in one piece, but also of several sections, sliding relatively between them in the manner of a telescope, in an arrangement such as by modifying the length of the duct, or by modifying the in- Clinching of the support, or both, the size and configuration of the clump formed by the products between the support and the lower end of the duct can be varied.
The removal of the products from this heap can be obtained automatically, by sliding on the support, by giving the latter a suitable inclination, or by making the removal of mechanical means, and preferably at least one current, contribute to this removal. erosion liquid.
The judicious adjustment of such a current makes it possible to entrain, from the mass of products of the support, determined quantities of these products.
Means may also be provided for automatically modifying the value of the erosion current according to the size of the mass of products, in relation to the length given to the telescopic duct according to the desired discharge.
Still other features of the invention will emerge from the additional description which follows, with reference to the appended drawings, of certain preferred arrangements, of course given only by way of examples, in the application of the invention to panels. concentrators.

Fig. 3 shows, in a manner analogous to FIG. 2, an arrangement with an automatically regulated erosion current;
Figs. 4 and 5 show, 90 from each other, part elevation views, part section, of another arrangement;
Fig. 6 shows a variant.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
With reference to figs. 1 and 2, 1 designates the tank of a concentrator pan which cams schematically indicated in figure 1, is equipped with a stirrer composed of rakes rotating around the axis of the tank, and peripheral outlets 2. for the concentrates , and central 3 for waste rock or tailings in the supposed case of ore processing.
With the outlet 2 is associated a discharge duct 4 of a certain length, substantially vertical, and in the example of cylindrical section. This duct 4 comprises a movable part 5, telescoping with the part 4 and equipped with a device permitting to adjust its position, and consequently the length of the assembly, such as for example the device with screws and sleeves shown. in 6, or a similar device.
At the lower end 7 of part 5 and at some distance from this end, there is a support 8 which can receive any suitable con @ mation and advantageously that of a trough or passage section 9.
This support 8 is mounted so as to be able to be tilted in one direction, at different angles relative to the horizontal, and for this purpose articulated for example on a pivot axis such as 10, the angular position of which can be adjusted at will. , and fixed by a locking device, not shown,
The edge 7 of the lower end of the part 5 is preferably arranged parallel to a medium adjustment position of the support.
8.
With a device as described hitherto, the concentrates brought to the outlet 2 by the working of the pan, accumulate in the conduit 4-5 and form on the support 8 a mass II delimited by the edge 7, the support and the natural slope of the products constituting the said concentrates, the size of the said mass being able to be adjusted at will by a suitable adjustment of the position of the part 5 of the duct 4-5. From this heap we can at will take back or remove quantities determined in accordance with the desired evaucation in the pan.
Various means can be provided for this purpose.
One suitable means is to give the support 8 an inclination such that the products forming the pile can slide to the desired extent towards a passage or other guide 12 intended to lead them to a place of deposit or use. This corridor or guide can, for this purpose, be equipped with an adjustable water inlet 13. Mechanical means could also be provided for ensuring by themselves or in combination with the inclination of the support the desired samples of the products. of cluster 11.
Preferably, however, recourse is had to hydraulic means capable of ensuring the desired erosion of the pile, and comprising for example, as shown, a stream of water directed by a conduit 14 and regulated by a valve 15. This means , which can be combined at will with a judicious inclination of the support 8, can also, if necessary, be supplemented, or replaced, by a current of water flowing in the corridor 9 and supplied by an inlet water 16 regulated by a valve 17. Additionally, an adjustable water inlet 18 can equip the conduit 4-5, in order to allow, among other things, the modification of the consistency of the products occupying this conduit and coming to form cluster 11.
The stream 18 is also used to force back into the pan the light particles (tailings) and clay which appear at the inlet of the conduit 4, and it also has the effect of creating a "soft" zone in the pan. , adjoining the entry of the conduit 4 and thus facilitating the entry of the concentrates into this conduit.
It will be understood that as the erosion determined by the current issuing from duct 14, or from inlet 16, or both, carries products from the pile 11 towards the passage or guide 12, the 'cluster is reformed by the products descending the conduit 4-5 and simultaneously entering it
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
via outlet 2 of pan 1, so that ultimately a continuous and regulated evacuation of the concentrates from the pan is ensured.
It is known that in order to limit the capture of concentrates in the usual sections, it is necessary to reduce the dimensions of the discharge opening made in the bottom of the section. This results in frequent occurrences of blockage, for example by a large piece accidentally falling into the pan.
The arrangement of the invention provides the possibility of increasing the dimensions of the discharge opening of the pan, without repercussions on the discharge or, and the quality of the concentrates.
In the previous example, the settings of the erosion water stream valve 15 (or 17), the length of the telescopic conduit 4-5, and the clinching of the support 8 are made separately. Fig. 3 shows how these different settings can be combined with one another, so as to ensure them simultaneously by a single maneuver.
According to one embodiment, a linkage 19, shown in solid lines, which is articulated on the pivot axis 10 of the support 8 and slides in a fixed guide 20, connects the operating handle 21 of the valve 15 of the duct 14 to the part mobile 5 of the duct 4-5, so that by acting on the handle 21 the position of the mobile part 5 is simultaneously modified, the arrangement being such that an increase in the flow of the duct 14 corresponds a lifting of the mobile part 5 and consequently an increase in the size of the cluster 11, and vice versa.
According to another embodiment, illustrated by the line in phantom, the linkage 19a, made up of all the articulated levers shown, is organized to furthermore simultaneously modify the inclination of the support 8. In this case, said support is made integral in rotation with its pivot axis, and the latter is made integral with the lever 22, joined by the lever 23 to the articulation 24 of the handle 21 for operating the valve 15.
By acting either on this handle or on the lever 22, the erosion current, the inclination of the support and the position of the movable part 5 of the duct 4-5, are simultaneously modified, so that at ac - An increase in the erosion current corresponds to an increase in the inclination of the support 8 and a lifting of part 5 with an increase in the size of the pile 11, and vice versa.
In the embodiment according to Figures 4 and 5, the duct 4 is partly conical and terminated at the bottom by a calibrated nozzle 4a which can be replaced by a calibrated nozzle whose passage opening has different dimensions, depending on the nature and the consistency of the products to be removed.
The support 8 disposed below and at some distance from the nozzle 4a is articulated on a horizontal axis 10a placed laterally, and on this axis, which is integral in rotation with the support, is fixed an operating lever 10b, whose position can be adjusted relative to a fixed sector 10c, thus adjusting the inclination of the support 8.
By giving the support 8 a suitable inclination, it will be possible to ensure the landslide of the slope and the evacuation, towards a conduit or guide 12, of controlled amounts of the cluster 11 formed, as previously indicated, on. the support 8.
Instead of the support 8 regaining a fixed inclination, it will be able to impart to it a permanent oscillation on either side of an average inclination position and, for this purpose, as also shown in FIG. 4, connect the lever 10b, by a connecting rod 25 to the crank button 26 of a toothed wheel 27 driven by a pinion 28 integral with the rotating rake-holder shaft, 29, of the pan.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
In such an arrangement it is possible to modify the extent of the discharge at will by adjusting the radial position of the crank button 26 on the control gear, or the position of the connection 25a of the connecting rod 25 with the lever. 10b according to the length of the latter. Naturally, it is possible to substitute or combine with the inclination of the support 8, and, or with its oscillation movement, one or the other of the means of erosion of the mass formed by the products to be removed which have been described in relation to Figures 2 and 3.
It is also possible, as illustrated by FIG. 6, to replace the calibrated nozzle 4a by a movable duct section 5 and to modify the position of the latter by one of the means described with reference to the figures.
2 and 3.
Naturally also, the evacuating devices described in relation to concentrator panels, can be used in other applications, where the products of a wet treatment carried out in any enclosure, must be unloaded or evacuated therefrom, with no or only minimal entrainment of the process liquid.
