<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
REVENDICATIONS.

SAFETY MECHANISM ENSURING THE TIMING OF THE RELEASE OF A FIREARM.
The present patent relates to a safety mechanism ensuring the setting of the trigger of a firearm, characterized by the intervention in the direction of the trajectory of the trigger for firing, of an element present under the form of a small rod acting as a lock, the free end of which engages on, or in the trigger to block its movement in the direction indicated ;, while its other end is indirectly or directly connected to a pusher which operated by the hand, allows, depending on the direction given to its movement, the locking or unlocking of the trigger, with the circumstance that the locking of the trigger is liable to be automatically imposed by the lock proper of the arm. me, when opening the latter.
Various modes of actuation of this lock can be envisaged and some embodiments will be shown schematically in what follows for explanatory and non-limiting purposes, with the aid of the appended drawings which show:
Figo 1, an elevational view of the safety mechanism actuated by a pusher placed on top of the handle of the butt of the weapon.
Fig. 2, a view similar to that of FIG. 1, in an execution variant in the command.
Fig. 3, an elevational view of the safety mechanism actuated directly by a pusher disposed below the grip of the butt of the weapon.
Referring to fig. 1, 1 represents the rocker of the weapon, 2 the butt, 3 the trigger articulated on the axis 6 and whose beak 7 is engaged in the notch 8 of the hammer 4 articulated in 5. 9 represents the sub-guard, on the rear upper face 9a from which a rod 10 can slide
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
acting as a lock and retained in its movements against this face 9a, by small pins or wedges, such as 11 engaged transversely in the side walls of the rocker of the guard or of the part taking place.
The front end 12 of the rod 10 is in the example shown, slipped on the dorsal face 13 of the trigger 3, which prevents its displacement in the direction of the arrow and consequently ensures its locking. The rear end of the rod 10 is provided on its upper face with a protuberance 14 engaged in a notch 15 of the lower end of a lever or balance 16 articulated on an axis 17 of the sub- guard or rocker 1. The upper part of this lever 16 is engaged for example in the slot 18a of the arm 18 similarly connected and welded or retained by a pin 19a at the foot 19 of a push button 20 which can slide on the top of the handle of the butt 2.
Operation is understood as follows:
Referring to fig. 1, the trigger 3-is blocked, due to the fact that the end 12 of the rod 10 is slipped over the back 13 of the gachet 3. This was obtained by moving the pusher 20 in the direction of the arrow a , which caused the angular displacement of 16 following a1, consequently the thrust of 10 following a2, hence blocking.
If the pusher 20 is operated in the direction of the arrow b, the lever 15 oscillates followed bl and 10 moves backwards, along b2, whereby the trigger 3 is released. As indicated above ;, l The opening of the weapon can automatically force the locking movement of the trigger 3.
For this purpose, it suffices to provide. Between the face of the rear end of the bolt 22 of the weapon, and the anterior face 21 of the lever 16, the insertion of a rod 23 which can be made integral with the end of latch 22.
It is easy to see that by opening the weapon the rod 23 pushes the lever 16 backwards which, by oscillating around 17, causes it to move in the direction of arrow a1, and consequently that of the bolt 10 in the direction of the arrow a2. An automatic safety is thus achieved, the trigger 3, coming into action when the weapon is opened. We could also use the movement of the hammer to impose the securing, or in conjunction with the lock. The end 12 could just as easily engage in a notch shaped in the trigger, instead of simply resting, as shown on its upper face 13.
In fig. 2, a simpler embodiment has been shown, in that the rod 10a forming the safety lock, is in one piece and made directly integral with the operating foot 19 of the pusher 20. It follows that the direction of movement , following a or b. of the pusher 20 putting the trigger in or out of safety is, the reverse of those relating to the exemplary embodiment given in FIG. 1. In the embodiment of FIG. 2, automatic safety when opening the weapon, is not envisaged but nevertheless the thing is still possible, by providing instead of the rod 23 of FIG. 1, a lever system conditioned to operate on 10a, a direction of movement opposite to that of the lock.
Fig. 3, gives yet another embodiment of the object of the invention, by arranging the push button or the operating button. 20a of the bolt 10b constituting the lock, on the end thereof emerging outside below the grip of the butt of the weapon.
This simplest solution also fulfills the purpose of the subject matter of the present patent.
It will be understood that by actuating the push-button 20a forwards, as in the examples above, the trigger 3 is blocked, as well as by withdrawing it towards the rear, the opposite result is obtained.
It goes without saying that other variants or details of execution,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
can be envisaged in achieving the object of the invention, depending on the model or type of weapon used in the drawings having been for this purpose) shown schematically to allow the application of the invention within the framework of the invention. more extensive of its possibilities.
In summary, it should be considered as coming within the scope of the present patent, a safety mechanism ensuring the setting of the trigger of a firearm, characterized by the following
CLAIMS.
1) Safety mechanism ensuring the setting of the trigger of a firearm, characterized by the intervention in the direction of the trajectory of the trigger for firing, an element in the form of a small rod acting as a lock, the free end of which engages on or in the trigger to block its movement in the direction indicated, while its other end is indirectly or directly connected to a pusher which, operated by the hand, allows depending on the direction given on its movement the locking or unlocking of the trigger, with the circumstance that the bloca, ge of the trigger is likely to be automatically imposed by the bolt itself of the weapon, when opening the latter.
