 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  FOOTWEAR, ESPECIALLY FOR MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVERS.

     The invention relates to a shoe which can be used particularly but not exclusively by drivers of motor cars for whom it will have, among other advantages, that of enabling them to operate the pedals more easily and with less fatigue than before.

   The present shoe, of the type without heel and in which the sole is curved at the rear and extends up to the top of the quarter, is characterized in the first place in that the extension of the sole is stamped so to present a curved horizontal section.

   Thus, the back of the user's heel is better maintained than in shoes with a rising sole of rectilinear horizontal section.

   According to another characteristic of the invention, the first, the vamp and the quarter are formed from a single piece suitably cut and notched so that the coming together of the edges of the notches determines the curvature of the shoe, the periphery of the slap being then assembled with a plastron.

   Advantageously, the two edges of the vamp, over the tongue, can be connected by a tab limiting their spacing.

     Advantageously, in addition, the periphery of the opening of the shoe is reinforced by an added border.

   According to another characteristic of the invention, a metal insert is placed between the first and the sole on which it is riveted.

   Finally, a flexible spacer piece is arranged at the rear of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 the shoe between the first and the quarter, on the one hand, and the sole, on the other hand.

   The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, one embodiment of a shoe according to the invention.

   Fig. 1 is a flat view, of the blank, in one piece, which will form the first, the slap and the quarter.

   Fig. 2 is a view, flat, of the plastron and of the tongue.

   Fig. 3 is a view, flat, of the tab intended to connect the two sides of the vamp, over the tab.

   Fig. 4 is a plan view of the metal insert placed at the location of the sole of the foot.

   Fig. 5 is a view, flat, of the flexible midsole placed at the location of the heel.

   Fig. 6 is a plan view of the blank of the part, reinforcing the upper edge of the rod.

   Fig. 7 is a plan view of the blank of the sole.

   Fig. 8, a plan view of the sole after stamping.

   Fig. 9 is a longitudinal view of the finished shoe, partly in section.

   Fig. 10, a longitudinal section of the rear part of the boot.

   Fig. 11, a cross section along the line XI-XI of FIG. 10, view following the arrows.

   As can be seen in these drawings, the first 1, the vamp 2 and the quarter 3 of the present shoe are formed from a flat blank, in one single piece A (fig. 1); cut according to a suitable contour comprising notches: 4 at the front, 5.6, 5 at the rear, so as to take a curved shape when the edges of these notches are brought together. As regards the edges of the front notch 4, they are preferably turned slightly outwards, so as to form a bead 7 (fig. 9), and joined by a stitch 8. This applies to marl for the edges of each of the notches 5, of the rear part, which form a bead 9 and are joined by a stitch 10, and for the edges of the notch 6.

   In this way and once the plastron 11 (fig. 2 and 9) is assembled by a stitch 12 with the edge 4 of the vamp - leaving the part forming the tongue, 13- free, the shoe keeps its shape and camber, without sagging, despite the absence of hard end and buttresses.

   The upper part of the shoe also advantageously comprises a tab 14 (fig. 3 and 9), connecting the two edges of the vamp over the tongue and thus maintaining the instep. Finally, a border 15 is provided (fig. 6 and 9) reinforcing the edge of the opening of the boot and preventing it from yawning and deforming.

   The sole is formed from a piece of leather 16 (Fig. 7), of suitable thickness and of length greater than that of the shoe.

  The rear end, which in a way constitutes an extension of the normal length, is stamped so as to form part 16a (fig. 8 and 9) which, in the assembled shoe, will go up to the top of the quarter in matching the curvature of the latter in the vertical plane, the stamping being carried out so that this part is also curved in the horizontal plane as is apparent from FIGS. 8 and 9 indicated above.

   The front of this sole, in the part corresponding to the plant of the foot which will press on the pedals, is reinforced by an intermediate metal plate 17, fixed by rivets 18.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   On the other hand, a flexible midsole piece 19, for example in foam rubber, is arranged at the rear of the shoe, between the quarter and the end of the sole, going up to the top of the part 16a of the shoe. this sole of which it marries the double curvature. This flexible intermediate piece is held in place by the same seam 20 (fig. 11) which fixes the sole on the upper and the quarter.

   The fact that the shoe does not have a heel and that the sole is rounded at the back, in the vertical plane, gives the user's foot, when the foot is pressed on a control pedal, a stability that it does not have with an ordinary shoe because, not only the heel of the latter takes the foot away from the ground, but also the contact of this heel with the ground - being that of a semi-circular sharp ridge with a plane - is reduced theoretically to a point and practically to an arc of a few millimeters. In addition, the roundness of the sole allows it to roll on the ground, which prevents sudden hits on the accelerator.

   On the other hand, due to the curvature, in the horizontal plane, of the rising part of the sole, the user's heel is better fitted than in shoes with a rising sole only curved in the vertical plane.

   On the other hand, the absence of a rim of the sole in relation to the upper reduces the risk of acting on the accelerator pedal while pressing on the brake pedal, hence reducing the risk of serious accidents. .

   Furthermore, the metal insert 17 - stiffening the sole at the location of the sole of the foot - reinforces the action of the latter and allows, in particular, better braking.

   Finally, the flexible insert 19 attenuates the repercussions of things on the user's heel while walking.
