Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to improvements to fishing floats, of the type of those interposed on the path of the line connecting the end of the fishing rod to the hook.

Its aim, above all, is to make the said floats such that they respond better than to date to the various desiderata of the practice, and in particular that they allow the fisherman to be warned immediately and with certainty, as soon as he has a touch.

It consists, mainly, in making the float include at least two parts, one of which is mounted elastically with respect to the other, the line being secured to connect one said part to the hook and the other to the rod. fishing, so that the attack of the fish on the hook has the effect of dragging one of said parts, while the other remains temporarily immobile thanks to the elasticity of the assembly, the relative displacement of the two said parts then highlighting the key to be detected.

It consists, apart from this main provision, of certain other provisions which are preferably used at the same time, but which can be used separately if necessary, and which will be discussed more explicitly below.

And it can, in any event, be clearly understood with the aid of the additional description which follows, as well as the appended drawings, which supplement and drawings, of course, are above all given by way of indication.

Fig. l of these drawings shows the float in exterior view (assuming the fish is pulling on the bottom of the float).

Fig. 2 shows the float at rest in longitudinal section.

According to the invention, and more particularly according to those of its modes of application and embodiments to which it seems that preference should be given, proposing to establish an improved float for angling, it is necessary to 'takes as follows or analogously.

It has been noticed that when fishing in rough water, for example in the sea, the waves or ripples often risk making the fisherman believe that the fish is biting, which he can only be sure of when lifting his line. . To avoid this drawback, it is proposed, according to the invention, to provide the line with a float capable of showing, in a visible and simple manner, that a traction is exerted on the hook, thanks to the displacement of the hook. 'a witness part forming part of said float and the appearance of which, for example, is caused outside a housing, under the action of a traction transmitted by the line.

Of course, this is only one possible realization, the simplest it seems, of a more general constructive principle, and which can be stated as being the following to achieve the desired result:
The float must be arranged in at least two parts coupled by an elastic connection, namely a part "a" connected to the hook by a portion of the fishing line, and a part "b" connected to the fishing rod by another portion of said line, the relative displacement of the two parts being able to be observed by the fisherman who is thus warned that he must act.

To obtain a float construction in accordance with this arrangement, in a preferred embodiment of the invention, the sliding part "b" is mounted in a guide carried by the part "a", the part "b" comprising for example for this purpose a rod which slides in a sheath carried by the part "a", this rod being normally hidden in the sheath under the action of the coupling spring of the parts "a" and "b", so that when that this rod appears out of said sheath, the fisherman is warned of the hit.

In this preferred embodiment of the invention which will now be described in connection with the figures, there is also provided means for in-situ adjustment of the spring tension making it possible to adapt the float as well as possible to the type of fishing. to undertake.

In the figures, it can be seen that said part "a" essentially comprises an elongated and tapered casing provided with an axial guiding sleeve 2, both preferably of celluloid or similar material, the pseudo chamber. cylindrical between parts 1 and 2 being watertight and able to form a float. The water freely penetrates through the lower part of the sleeve 2 inside it. Said part "b" comprises, as explained above, a rod 3, preferably also of celluloid and preferably colored red or bright yellow or other conspicuous color, capped at its upper end d 'a sliding stopper 4, preferably of cork, adjustable in a gently rubbing position.

A spring 5, for example an elastic blade or rubber thread constantly tends to apply the stopper 4 to the rounded upper end of the housing 1, and for this this spring is fixed on the one hand to the lower end of the rod 3 and on the other hand to the lower end of the sleeve 2 by being wedged there by small annular collars, respectively 6 and 7 made of suitable material (possibly also made of celluloid). The line wire coming from the scion or the fishing rod is first wedged between the plug 4 and the rod 3; then with a sufficient "slack" allowing the relative displacement of said parts "a" and "b", it passes between a ring 8 and the casing 1.

The housing 1 having a shape which widens slightly upwards, the ring 8 allows the line wire to be wedged at this second attachment point.

The intention float can be used in several ways. In still water, you can leave the float tilted almost flat on the water and use it as an ordinary float, the plug 4 being pushed down enough so that the elastic connection provided by the spring 5 does not play. hardly any; in this case the float sinks as a block when the fish bites. In agitated water, on the contrary, the float of the invention can be used in a particular way, which can be called the "release" method, which makes it possible to take full advantage of the advantages of the invention.

For this purpose, the vertical float is held suspended by the line at least 20 or 30 cm above the mean water level, and a few successive "sinks" or lowerings of the float are made. The fish swimming between two waters grabs the bait and the red or yellow rod 3 appears.

The fisherman at this time does not have to give up his hand, the fish frees itself.

As goes without saying and as it follows moreover from the foregoing, the invention is in no way limited to that of its modes of application and embodiments of its various parts having been more particularly envisaged, it on the contrary embraces all the variants.
