Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   Especially in the chemical industry, but also in other branches of industry, agitators are used to mix, stir and braze liquids of different consistencies and specific weights. These stirrers are of the type with forks, plates, propellers, etc. Most of the devices constructed in such a way only mix in one direction, if their direction of rotation is not changed. In addition, most of these agitators still rotate in a bearing provided in the bottom of the agitation vessel, which has often caused difficulties in practice. Such agitators are driven in most cases by means of gears or belt pulleys.

   The main object of the present invention is to create a new mixer in which smooth operation is ensured with a long drive shaft. It also aims to achieve better mixing by virtue of a new arrangement of the agitator device.

   Finally, the subject of the invention is new embodiments of centrifugal mixers, comprising better mounting of the mixing shaft itself provided with an improved agitating or mixing head.

   The description which will follow with regard to the appended drawing, given by way of nonlimiting example, will make it clear how the invention can be implemented, the particularities which emerge both from the text and from the drawing being, of course, part of it. said invention,
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of an embodiment of a mixer.

   Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of a wing.

   Fig. 3 is a section along III-III of FIG. 2.

   Fig. 4 is a section along IV-IV of FIG. 2.

   Figure 5 is a partial elevational view of the mixing wing in the direction of arrow E in FIG. 3.

   In the embodiment shown in the drawing, a flange 1 supports two ball bearings 3 mounted inside a casing 2 disposed above the flange. The flange 1 is provided with a sealing device 4 surrounding the shaft 5, for example a stuffing box. If necessary, the stuffing box can be replaced by a friction seal ring, in particular in the case of rather high pressures. The drive shaft 5 of the agitating blades is arranged vertically and carries at its upper end a claw clutch element 6 which can cooperate with a corresponding part 7 mounted on the drive shaft 8. This makes it possible to couple 1 shaft 5 directly with a drive motor, in particular a vertical motor (not shown), without Interposition of a mechanism.

   From the support flange 1, downwards, a protective tube for the shaft 5. This tube is designated as a whole by the reference 9; 11 is composed, in the example presented, of several parts 10, 11, 12, joined to one another by flanges. In an intermediate zone of the shaft protector tube 9, there is provided a sliding bearing designated, as a whole, by the reference 13 and which is fixed to a connecting flange 15. In addition, another sliding bearing 17 is provided. disposed in the lower part 12 of the protective tube. The shaft 5 is therefore mounted at three points 3, 13 and 17, in the embodiment presented.

   The shaft 5, thus mounted, carries at its lower part a mixing blade designated as a whole by the reference 18, and the details of which are explained below, with reference to FIGS. 2 to 5.

   The mixing blade comprises a body 19 provided with an inner sleeve 20, which can be mounted on the lower end 21 of the vertical shaft 5, and fixed in this position by means of a nut 22 or the like. analogous organ.

   The mixing blade 18, in the embodiment shown, is a closed, double-flow blade with parallel fins. This blade has in section a shape deviating from the circular shape, as can be seen in particular in Figures 3 to 4. The mixing blade has a median transverse partition 23, which carries above and on each side a fin mixer 24, the cross-sectional shape of which is shown in detail in FIG. 3. The fins 24 are closed at their upper end by a wall 25 integrally formed with the blade. In this wall is provided an annular opening 26 for the material to be mixed.

   The mixing paddle has openings 27 on its peripheral face, so that the material to be mixed which enters at 26 is stirred by the fins 24 and ejected around the periphery through the openings 27.

   The arrangement of the fins located on the underside of the dividing wall 23 is similar.

   The fins 28 (fig. 4) rotate in the same direction as the fins 24, they are terminated at their lower end by a wall 29.

  In this lower wall is provided an inlet opening 30 for the material to be mixed, the cross section of which has substantially the same value as that of the annular inlet 26. The fins 28 located on the underside of the dividing wall 23 have substantially the profile shown in FIG. 4.

   The material to be mixed is guided in a corresponding manner, as in the series of fins already described; it penetrates upward through the opening 30 and emerges through the openings 31 at the periphery of the mixing wing, after stirring by the fins 28.

   As shown in fig. 2, the passage sections 31 between the lower fins 28 are smaller than those between the upper fins 24. It is possible to choose a reverse embodiment in which the lower fins are shorter and have a larger passage section, while the upper fins are longer and have a smaller passage section.

   The invention gives particular advantageous results, which are described below.

   With the mixing wing embodiment described above, the liquid medium, i.e. the material to be mixed, is sucked both from the top and from the bottom during operation of the mixer.

   The different lengths of the fins 24, on the one hand, and 28 on the other hand, as well as the differences in the passage sections between these fins, mean that the partial mixtures which leave the sections 27 and 31 have different speeds; this speed difference causes a third mixture at the exit of the blade, which, given the shape of the mixing blade, is transformed into a pulsation perpendicular to the shaft of the mixers, which makes it possible, in practice, to eliminate or reduce the rotation of the material to be mixed.

   By the effect of the suction, the partial solids settling on the bottom of the container containing the material to be mixed, as well as the particles floating on the surface, are caught by the suction mouth of the agitator blade and mixed. intimately with the main liquid.

   The invention also has the advantage that it is not necessary to vary the direction of rotation of the mixing blade, whether the material is sucked in from the top or from the bottom.

   The centrifugal mixer object of the invention can be used to mix very different media, for example, acids and bases of all kinds, liquids and solids, fluid liquids and viscous liquids, sludges of all kinds. , celluloses and paper pulps, liquids and air etc ...

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   It goes without saying that modifications can be made to the embodiments which have just been described, in particular by substitution of equivalent technical means without going beyond the scope of the present invention.
