Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

.! 'intermédiaire du contact 44.

   The main patent relates in particular to an electrical installation for automobiles, in particular for small cars, which comprises a permanent magnet alternating current generator fitted with at least one lighting winding, a battery, and several switching devices which can be combined with one another. battery for example headlamps for road lighting, as well as at least one rectifier which can be switched between the lighting coil on the one hand, and the battery with the control devices - summation on the other hand, installation characterized in that the lighting winding is subdivided into two winding parts subjected to the induction in phase opposition to one another,

  each connected to a rectifier and that there is provided a switch enabling only one winding part to be connected to the battery via its rectifier, and simultaneously in the other switching position. - tation, to connect the other winding part to the battery via another rectifier. This arrangement ensures great simplicity and great flexibility in installation.

   As indicated in the examples of the main patent, the switch for the windings can be combined with a multi-stage switch for the lighting of the headlights and the light of the coded headlights. Such an arrangement is sufficient for the general case but does not produce, in all cases of services which present themselves a sufficient battery charge, for example when we drive a lot or especially at night and at low speeds' of the mo - tor.

   The invention relates in particular to an installation in accordance with the main patent and characterized because the switch is controlled automatically so that the installation automatically ensures sufficient charge of the battery for each speed of the vehicle.

   To remedy the difficulties inherent in the known installations according to the invention, the possibility of inverting a small battery load in the single-channel rectification on a strong battery load with total rectification following the inversion in such a way is used. in employing an electromagnetic switch which is controlled as a function of the state of charge of the battery by means of a choke coil which can be connected directly to the battery.

   The invention is described and explained in detail below with the aid of a lighting installation serving as an example of the invention. The drawing shows an assembly diagram for an installation of this kind with an ignition magneto as described in the main patent, the ignition magneto 11 with two ignition armatures 310 and 320 which are crossed by the flux of the ignition. or magnets of a flywheel, not shown. Coils are mounted on the frames which each consist of two winding halves 311 and 312 or 321 and 322. One end of each of these four winding halves is grounded.

   The other ends of the four winding halves are connected in pairs, each pair to a one-way straightener 12 and 13, the ends of the winding halves 312, 322 to the straightener 12 and that of the other two halves. The winding 311, 321 to the rectifier 13. The four winding halves receive all the induction at the same time and one of the pairs 311,321 in the opposite direction to the pair 312, 322.

   From the outputs of the two rectifiers a conductor 52 or 53 goes through fixed contact pairs of an electromagnetic load switch 140 as well as through a switch which can be operated at will 170, at one pole of a battery d. 'accumulator 18, the other pole of which is grounded.

   The load switch 140 has a coil 141 and a moving core

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 142 which carries two switching bridges 143 and 144. Each of the two switching bridges connects to each other in the switching on position of the load switch, a pair of fine contacts 145 and 146 or 147 and 148 of output that when the hand switch 170 is engaged, the outputs of the two rectifiers 12 and 13 are connected to the battery 18.

   The pair of contacts 145 and 146 are permanently, therefore even when the load switch is triggered, shunted by a choke 151.

   The excitation coil 141 of the charge switch can on the one hand be connected with the battery through the switch 170 and on the other hand it is earthed. It is dimensioned in such a way that the movable switching member of the load switch is not drawn and consequently that the bridges 143 and 144 are not removed from their pairs of fixed contacts until the full charge of the battery d. The accumulator is almost reached.

   So as long as the upper limit of the battery voltage has not yet been reached, the bridges connect their pairs of contacts so that current flows to the battery through the two rectifiers. If the voltage limit for which the load switch comes into play is reached, after opening its contacts, only the winding halves 312 and 322 can still supply current through the rectifier 12 and the choke 151. The average value of this charging current is greatly reduced by the action of the choke so that, even at high speeds, overcharging of the battery is avoided.

   The hand switch 170 opens when the installation is stopped to prevent the battery 18 from being discharged by the voltage coil 141 of the load switch. It is practical to combine the switch 170 with the ignition switch of the installation so that the two switches can be triggered by the same operating device, for example a key.

   To the battery 18 is connected by means of a fuse 50 a switch for the lighting of the automobile: this has three switching positions: - T for daytime running, P- for parking and N - for night walking. The rear light of the vehicle is designated by 19 and it is connected to a contact sector 47 on which slides an elastic tab of a rotating brass switching part 40. The switching piece connects in each case two of the four fixed contacts 41, 42, 43, 44, of which the two contacts 41/44 are at the battery voltage, while on the contact 42 is connected a fire. stop 17 and on contact 43 through the code 55 headlight switch either one or the other incandescent filament of the two-filament lamp 16.

   In the daytime running position shown, none of the lamps in this position illuminate the switching part, touching neither contact 41 nor contact 44. In park position P- the switching part connects the contact. battery 41 on contact 42 with position light 17, in the night operating position eN) projection lamp 16 is connected to the battery via! .! 'intermediary of contact 44.
