<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

This invention relates to a vehicle lane with one or more vehicles therefor and it aims to obtain a construction which can be perfectly suited as an educational toy, circular motion games, automatic machines operating after the introduction of a coin. in a slot for public places such as cafes and the like and which can at the same time serve as an attraction in fairs o
The invention is based on the idea that one often takes great pleasure in operating a vehicle from the outside or in driving it oneself from the inside. In this type of game the sporting or emulative element often has a great appeal.
In principle, the invention relates to a track for motor vehicles, with one or more corresponding vehicles, which comprises parts placed at different angles to each other, the vehicle steering unit being such that the wheels of the car are steered as a function of the angle formed by the front axle with the rear axle, this angle being considered in relation to the longitudinal central axis of the vehicle, and at the same time as a function of the magnitude of the centrifugal force acting on the vehicle or on certain parts of it.
Accordingly, the invention aims to provide a construction such that the vehicle steers quite automatically, that is to say that it can circulate in curves and that, as the speed increases, it approaches the part. outside of the curve.
In one embodiment of the invention, the track is arranged to supply current to an electric motor of a vehicle traveling on the track and, at the same time, one or more devices are provided to regulate the admission of the current.
Such a construction offers many peculiarities, so, for example, the outer edge of the track can be designed as a bumper.
The player can move the vehicle faster or slower. The number of hits against the edge is counted and can also be recorded by a counter device.
The rules of the game can be for example that the one who completes during a certain period of time the greatest number of laps of the track, with a minimum number of collisions against the edge, which are counted as penalties, is the winner of the game. The game can be made more animated and informative by providing the track with traffic signals, such as stop lights, which must be observed.
The apparatus according to the invention may also find its application as an attraction in fairs, in which case the vehicles are then constructed so that one or more persons can sit there. The steering wheel of the vehicle can then be connected to a device intended to regulate the power at the terminals of an engine mounted on the vehicle. The actual steering is not here under the driver's control. The vehicle in reality steers itself depending on factors dependent on the present invention.
The application of these factors, including the angle of displacement and the centrifugal force, results in various forms of compact construction of good steering equipment.
Some of these devices are described below, with reference to the accompanying drawings. and specified in the claims.

Fig. 15 is a view, partially in section, along the line XV-XV of FIG. 14.

Channel 1 according to figs. 1 and 2 is covered with two electrically conductive strips 2 and 3 which are insulated from each other and to which the electric current can be supplied by means of an adjustment resistor or a rheostat 4.
In curves, which can affect all kinds of shapes, the track has an appropriate slope, as seen in Fig 2.
This inclination can also occur in straight sections; however, it then differs from that existing in the curves.
On this track, can circulate a vehicle, having for example the shape of a racing car. In this vehicle 5, a small electric motor 6 is mounted, for example a motor such as those used in electric toys, when the apparatus according to the invention is supposed to be a toy or an automatic machine operating by the motor. The introduction of a coin into a slot. The electric motor 6 is connected by a transmission not shown to the rear axle 7 and the rear wheels 8 and 9 (figo 4). A differential gear can be provided in the transmission mechanism.
Sliding contacts indicated at 10 and 11 bring the current of bands 2 and 3 of the track to the motor. The dimensions of these strips and of the car are chosen such that the car can take various positions in relation to the width of the track; in other words, in curves for example, it can be driven out in the outer curve and in the inner curve.
This pulse occurs automatically depending on two factors, namely:
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
a) the reciprocal angular position of! front and rear axles b) centrifugal force acting on the car or on parts of it, hence also the speed of the car.
The car is provided with a steering mechanism such that when changing this angular position the front wheels are steered and further the centrifugal force can regulate the steering action on the wheels.
Different forms of construction of such a mechanism are possible. Two will be described here.
In the first form of construction (figso 3 to 8), the bridge of the axles of the front wheels and the track or coupling bar are interchanged in comparison with a normal steering mechanism of a car.
What is normally called the track bar, or coupling, that is to say in fig. 4 the bar 12, is attached to a front frame 13 of the car which can rotate around a longitudinal shaft 14 (fig. 5) relative to the rear frame 15 so that the axle bridges of the front wheels and can take on different angular positions with respect to this shaft 140 This angular displacement influences the position of the front wheels 16 and 17 which are articulated by arms 18 and 19 provided with pivots 20 and 21 to the bar or the fixed shaft 12 and are interconnected by an articulated bar 22 extending between the front wheels 16 and 170 The pivots 20 and 21, are somewhat inclined in the usual manner to ensure good steering capabilities.
The rear frame 15 is provided with a vertical leaf spring 23 (pins 5 and 6) which carries at its end a pin 24 arranged in the longitudinal direction of the car and enters a slide 25 of an arm 26 of the bar 220
When the axle bridges of the front and rear wheels of the car (see figs. 7 to 11), passing for example from a straight section of the track to a curve, both turn around the shaft 14 , this rotation is transmitted elastically and with a certain delay by the spring 23 to the bar 22 which is thus displaced transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis of the car (figs. 10 and 11). The front wheels are therefore steered or steered and in such a direction that the car appropriately crosses the curve.
The direction of this steering movement is such that the car is driven towards the inside curve.
However, centrifugal force also plays a role. It acts especially on the engine block 6 and is indicated by the arrow C in figs. 12 and 130 La., Force C acts on the bar 12 which has a tendency to be pushed transversely. Then the support points Pet Q (Fig. 13) of the front wheels are caused to act as fixed points of rotation on the road surface.
This means that the bar 12 moves in the direction of the arrow W under the action of the force C through the arms 18, 19 and the wheel axles 30 and 31 move the bar 22 (fig. 13) towards the straight line around these fixed points of rotation. The front wheels are therefore directed outwards, contrary to the angle of inclination of the track in the curve. This means that the car, when it receives more current, therefore, when it is driven at a greater speed, is automatically made to circulate in the outer curve, and when it receives too much current it hits the road. border of this outer curve.
In the example of execution according to Figs 3 and 4, the body 27 of the car can consist of a stamped body which is fixed for example by screws to the rear frame 15.
The figurine 28 can rotate around a longitudinal shaft 29 and
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
may therefore oscillate outward in curves.
In the form of construction according to figso 14 to 16 there is a permutation between the track bar and the axle bridge of the front wheels.
Here, therefore, the bridge 22, at the ends of which the axles 30 and 31 of the front wheels pivot at 32 and 33, is fixed to the front frame 13 which can also pivot about a longitudinal shaft 14 relative to the rear frame 15 ( of arrow P in fig 16)
Exactly as in figs. 3 to 13, the steering arms 18 and 19 are fixed to the ends of axles or knuckles 30 and 31 and pivot around the axes 20 and 21 on the sliding track bar 12
A support bracket 34, mounted on the shaft 14, is connected to the shaft or the fixed bar 22 (Fig. 15).
A spindle 35 is supported so as to be able to rotate between the branches of this stirrup. On this pin is fixed an arm 36 which carries at one end a counterweight 37 and has at the other end a slide 38 in which penetrates a pin 39 of the bar 12. The arm 36 can be connected to a light spring which tends to keep the weight 37 in the middle position according to fig. 14 This spring is not shown.
It emerges from FIG. 16 that, during mutual -rotation of the front and rear frames, if it is assumed that the left wheel in FIG.
16 of the drawing, therefore the spindle 30 is lifted from the plane of the drawing, the counterweight 37 (force G) has a tendency to descend and move in the direction shown, which causes the bar 12 to the left (arrow G 'Consequently, the wheels are directed or steered towards the inner part of the track of the position of the rockets 30 and 31 in fig. 16.)
The centrifugal force c acting on the counterweight 37 exerts a reverse action of the arrow C on the pin 16) and tends to push the wheels out of the track so that the car begins to turn further in the curve. exterior.
Various variants are possible. For example, the delay spring 23 according to Figs. 3 to 7 can be replaced by another delay device. Instead of a counterweight 37 which can rotate around a vertical axis, it is possible to use a counterweight capable of rotating around a horizontal axis.
CLAIMS.
1 Track for motor vehicles comprising one or more vehicles therefor, characterized in that it comprises parts located relative to each other at different angles, the steering apparatus vehicles being such that the wheels of the vehicle are steered as a function of the angle between the front and rear axles of the vehicle, this angle being determined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and also as a function of the magnitude of the centrifugal force acting on the vehicle or on certain parts of it.
