MOTEUR A TURBINES.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

TURBINE ENGINE.
The present invention relates to a turbine engine intended for all industrial uses and more especially for motor vehicles.
In the currently known turbine engines, the exhaust gases, which propel a turbine which is driving, are the only power producers resulting in too much fuel consumption for a given engine efficiency.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
To obviate this drawback and thus obtain the greatest possible efficiency from the quantity of fuel used, the invention consists in that on a secondary shaft is mounted a longitudinal compressor which supplies a combustion chamber with compressed air. associated with a drive turbine, thus creating for the latter a pressure overdrive, which borrows the heat of the gases escaping from an additional turbine mounted on the aforesaid secondary shaft to form in said combustion chamber an overcompressed mixture. me.
It should be noted that the longitudinal compressor ensures excellent cooling of the part of the turbine engine of which it forms the central part.
By way of example only, the drawing appended to this specification shows a schematic elevational view of a turbine engine according to the invention.
As can be seen in the drawing, a main turbine 1, of the closed type, actuating a tubular motor shaft 2, is preceded by a supply chamber 3 into which emerge from one part the pressurized gas exiting from a secondary turbine. - re 4. actuating a shaft 5, on which it is mounted, and on the other hand additional pressurized air leaving a central compressor 6 mounted on said shaft 5, 'concentrically with respect to the turbine 4. @
The secondary turbine 4 is itself preceded by a supply and combustion chamber 7 containing gases coming from a compressor 8,
also mounted on the shaft 5 and supplied by a reservoir 9, and ignited by a spark plug 10.
The shaft 5, which is used to support and drive the compressors 6,8, is mounted on a bearing 17 at the front and at the rear protrudes inside the concentric motor shaft 2, but it is independent of the latter, which is
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
extends beyond the turbine 1 on the side opposite to the supply chamber 3. The shaft 5 turns on a bearing 15 interposed between the shafts 2 and 5, that is to say inside the shaft 2 turning 'itself inside a bearing 14 located in a housing 16.
The motor shaft 2 is extended by a half-shaft 11, which is fixed centrally on a disc 12 closing off the tubular shaft 2 and is supported by a bearing
13, This half-shaft 11 controls via a worm 18 a toothed wheel 19 of a suitable transmission mechanism. The box 16 supported by the vehicle or the machine, to which the motor assembly is applied, serves to support the bearings 14 and 15, as well as the shafts 5 and 2. This box also feels when fixing the gearbox boot and trance mission.
According to the present invention, the main turbine 1, supplied with a mixture of gas at a certain pressure leaving the secondary turbine 4 and pressurized air leaving the central compressor 6, acts only through the motor shaft. .2,11 on the gear 19, while the secondary turbine 4 is used for the rotation of the shaft 5 and consequently of the compressors 6 and 8.
In this way, an engine assembly of relatively large power is produced for reduced fuel consumption, the gases exhausting all their propulsive power as they pass through successive turbines 4 and 1,
The generator of the fuel pump, etc., will be driven through the demultipiilcator boot.
The engine starting system will be by electric starter, which will control the secondary shaft from the front by the Bendix system or the like.
The “engine” part will, for example, be of the same type as the known turbine engines, the tests of which have already been carried out in automobiles.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The fuel to be used for this engine will be gasoline for starting and, as soon as the engine is hot, it is supplied with petroleum and even fuel oil.
Provision could be made for water carburization by means of the suction by the longitudinal compressor 6 of water which will come out in the form of vapor to mix with the gases coming from the turbine 4. The exhaust gases can be conducted. to heat the inlet gases to the compressor 8 in order to obtain a second heat recovery.
It is understood that the purely constructional arrangements resulting from the general technique may be modified according to the industrial applications concerned.
