L'invention s'étend à un moteur à combustion interne muni d'un dispositif de réglage conforme.à celui décrit ci-dessus;

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"Adjustment device for a supercharged internal combustion engine and an engine fitted with said device or similar device"
The present invention relates to an adjustment device for a supercharged internal combustion engine and in particular for an internal combustion engine provided with a supercharging fan actuated by a turbine driven by the exhaust gases.
The device of the invention is characterized in that there is provided, in a pipe carrying air or exhaust gases, a device which can be adjusted from the outside for a determined number of revolutions, which device acts on the regulation of the quantity of fuel supplied

to the engine as well as over the length of the passage for the charge air, means being provided to automatically maintain constant the number of revolutions, set once and for all, when the engine load varies.
'In a pipe carrying charge air or exhaust gases ,. at least one throttling zone can be provided which can be adjusted for a number of engine revolutions to be safely maintained. This throttling zone is in communication with at least one pneumatic device responding to the pressure variations produced by it, which acts automatically on the fuel pump. The same device or a second pneumatically actuated device similarly adjusts, automatically, the size of the passage for the supercharging air. For the passage of the charge air, a second throttling or control zone may be provided in a separate channel of the line for the charge air.
In the case of gasoline engines, the throttle zone can act on a pneumatic device which, of its. side, adjusts the fuel inlet nozzle.
The invention extends to an internal combustion engine provided with an adjustment device in accordance with that described above;
The invention also extends to the characteristics resulting from the following description and the appended drawings as well as to their possible combinations.
The following description relates to some exemplary embodiments of the present invention with the aid of the schematic representations forming the subject of the attached drawings, in which: FIG. 1 shows an exemplary embodiment in which are represented, in the inlet pipe of the blower, the components for adjusting the quantity of air

fuel 14, so that a quantity of fuel arrives at the engine which corresponds to the desired power flow for the selected number of revolutions of the engine. In order to supply the engine, in the event of load variation, with the necessary quantity of fuel, as well as the corresponding quantity of air, a second valve 0 is provided in the other channel of the suction pipe. .
When the engine load increases, the adjustment rod 6 is moved in the 'load-level' direction and the corresponding adjustment of the valve .20 is effected by the rod 15. A damper 7 is provided to dampen the oscillations of the rod. adjustment.
For engine loads, which may be of different magnitudes, valve 1 is adjusted for the required number of revolutions by means of sector S and then valve 20 is actuated automatically.
The figure: shows an exemplary embodiment of the adjustment device in which it is provided, mounted in a non-subdivided delivery pipe 17 located after the supercharging fan 8, a Venturi tube which is subdivided into two passages or channels. These passages are separated from each other by a partition 18 and they respectively contain the valves 1 'and 20' (Fig. 2a) which correspond respectively, from the point of view of the function which they fulfill. , to valves 1 and 20 of FIG. 1. To actuate the valve 1 ′, there is provided in this case a linkage 4 ′ controlled by a pedal and subjected to the action of a spring. This device replaces the adjustment device with several notches which / shown in figure 1.
In this embodiment, the adjustment valve 20 'is actuated by the linkage 15' which is itself controlled by the membrane 5 'of a membrane block 5. The valve block
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
membrane 5 is joined by a pipe 19 with the delivery pipe 17. The pressure prevailing in this pipe acts on the linkage 15 'which is connected to the membrane 5 and which serves for the direct adjustment of the valve 20'. To prevent vibrations from occurring in this system, a damper is provided. The ratio of the sizes of the two valves 1 'and 20' varies according to the extent of the overfeeding.
The diaphragm block 10 is not only used for the adjustment of the adjustment rod 6 of the injection pump 14. The line 12 is connected to the Venturi tube 2 'which contains the valve 1' and the line. 11 is connected, like line 19, to the discharge port 17. The diaphragm of the block is therefore again influenced here by the pressure difference in the lines 11 and 12 and the adjustment rod makes a corresponding adjustment. the displacement of the membrane. With the throttle valve 1 ', the desired number of revolutions is adjusted and the regulating valve 20' is adjusted according to the size of the load. Everything happens as with the valves 1 and 2 of the exemplary embodiment according to figure 1.
However, the embodiment according to Figure 3 is simpler than the embodiment according to Figure 1, because there is no longer a need, for the charge air, that a pipe 17. The valve 20 'could be 'actuated by means of the linkage 4, shown in Figure l. Likewise, for the embodiment according to FIG. 1, a 4 '' linkage according to FIG. 2 could be used. Depending on the use of the motor, it will be one or the other of these embodiments which will be the most advantageous.
. When the engine load becomes greater, the blower, controlled by the exhaust gas turbine, supplies more charge air, so that the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
pressure difference between lines 11 and 12 becomes smaller.
it follows that the adjusting rod 6 of the fuel pump 14 is actuated by the diaphragm spring 10b in a direction corresponding to an increase in the supply of fuel and at the same time a decrease in the number of revolutions of the motor is avoided, Due to the increase in the load pressure in the manifold 17 and in the pipe 19, which increases as a result of the higher load of the motor, the membrane 5 'is displaced in the block 5 despite the force antagonist of the spring 5 "in the direction in which the valve .20 'opens, through the linkage 15' in order to provide a greater passage for the charge air.
For maximum engine load, valve 20 'is fully open.
Figure S shows an arrangement of the regulator in which there is no throttle valve 1. There is only a 20 "regulator valve in the Ventur 1 2".
The supply of fuel to the engine is regulated by the difference in the pressures prevailing in the charge air duct 17 and in the venturi 2. This adjustment is effected, via the ducts 11 and 12, by the membrane located in the block 10 and joined to the adjustment rod.
As in the case of figure 2. a diaphragm block 5 is provided for actuating the control valve 20 ". However, in this case, an additional way of actuating the control valve is provided: use the 15 "pedal lever for this purpose, spring loaded. As shown in Figure 3, the pedal lever acts on the body of the diaphragm block 5 and on the linkage 21 which serves to actuate the valve 20 ". The connection of the pipe 19 with the diaphragm block is ensured, for this reason, by means of a flexible connection 19 '.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
movement of the pedal boat, stops 24 and 25 are provided.
When the valve 20 "is opened further, the difference between the respective pressures of the lines 11 and 12 becomes smaller, so that the adjusting rod moves in the" full load "position for a determined position of the lever 15". , the valve 20 "can be opened more by increasing the blower pressure and it can be opened when the blower pressure becomes smaller.
If lever 15 "is moved towards stop 24, valve 20" is rotated to bring it to the position for the smallest passage, which corresponds to the lowest engine speed. Any change in the position of the 15 "pedal results in a decrease or increase in

The pressure is thus varied; in the pipe 12" ". So that the membrane connected to the rod 22" 'is influenced and consequently, also the supply of fuel to the nozzle 9 ". '.
The system is adjusted for the desired speed, in idle mode, of the engine. Quanu. the adjustment cone l "is actuated using the linkage 4" ', the number of engine revolutions is adjusted. The variable vacuum prevailing in the pipe 12 "'has the effect of bringing to the nozzle 9"' of the carburetor and consequently to the engine, the quantity of fuel necessary for this purpose. When the engine is loaded, its number of revolutions decreases until, due to the vacuum thus produced in the pipe 12 "', the linkage 22"' is displaced by the diaphragm in a direction corresponding to an increase of. the supply of fuel via the valve 23 "'. The pressure in the line 12"' and in the membrane block 3 "'is thus increased.
The throttle cone 1 "'is moved by the linkage 21"' to the left, in the direction corresponding to a lower vacuum in the pipe 12 "'and above, the valve 23"' opens. more. In this way, a fuel mixture supply is obtained which is subordinate to the value of the engine load. When the number of revolutions and the load of the motor remain constant, the pressure of the blower is kept constant, but. if the number of revolutions decreases, the adjustment operation is started again by means of the 4 "'linkage.
