<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La figure 1 est une vue en coupe partielle d'un mélangeur prévu pour alimenter une baignoire et une douche et dont les organes de manoeuvre y sont représentés en position de fermeture des deux tubulures de distribution;
La figure 2 représente.la partie centrale du dispositif de la figure 1, toujours en coupe axiale mais avec son organe de manoeuvre en position de mélange et de distribution ;
La figure 3 est une vue en élévation et en coupe partielle de l'organe qui contrôle le mélange;
La figure 4 est une coupe suivant la ligne A-B de la figure 3;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

The present invention relates to a hot and cold water mixer which can be mounted on the supply piping of any sanitary hygiene device and which, by a simple and safe operation, allows the temperature of the water to be regulated. water coming out
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
from the dispensing tubing of the device itself. This device is particularly advantageous in the case where the device must alternately supply two or more distribution pipes. It is advantageous, in particular, when it is necessary to be able to supply alternately, at will, a bathtub or a shower.
The mixer in question has, compared to devices of the same type currently known, an essential characteristic, namely that it has only one operating member and that at the same time it is provided with two coaxial chambers for the mixing and for distribution. The advantages of this device are therefore great speed in the preparation of the mixture and great simplicity of operation.
The accompanying drawing shows schematically and by way of example a practical embodiment of the mixer object of the present invention; more precisely :
FIG. 1 is a view in partial section of a mixer designed to supply a bathtub and a shower and the actuators of which are represented therein in the closed position of the two distribution pipes;
FIG. 2 represents the central part of the device of FIG. 1, still in axial section but with its actuator in the mixing and dispensing position;
FIG. 3 is a view in elevation and in partial section of the member which controls the mixing;
Figure 4 is a section taken along line A-B of Figure 3;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figure 5 is a plan view, from plane C-D and along the arrows, of the mixer of Figure 1.
The device in. question includes a body 1 comprising two inlet pipes 2 and 3, one for hot water and the other for cold water, and in the bottom, that is to say at a certain distance from them- here, two other pipes to supply the bathtub and the shower respectively. The body 1 is drilled over its entire height with an axial hole, closed at one of its ends by a plug 6, the sealing of which is ensured by a gasket 7
At the other end of the body 1 is screwed or fixed to the body itself in any way a part 8 also drilled with an axial hole and in the axis of the body 1.
On this part 8 are also provided, internally, sealed annular gaskets 9 and 10, a similar gasket 11 being housed in an annular groove provided for this purpose on the internal face of the body 1. In the axial hole of the body 1 and of the part 8 is threaded a rod 12 which constitutes the operating member and which functions as a piston. This rod 12 carries at its upper part a handwheel 13.
In line with the branches 2 and j provided on the body 1 and to which the hot and cold water supply pipes are connected, the central hole of the body 1 widens to allow a rubber seal to be accommodated therein. 14 which has two holes such as the one shown at 15 in the drawing and corresponding in position to the two water inlet pipes
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
hot and cold water.
Inside this cylindrical and annular rubber lining 15 is disposed a metal part 16, also annular, pierced with a hole 17 and in which are formed two symmetrical notches 18 and 19 having a width equal to the diameter of the hole 17 and a decreasing depth as one moves away from this hole, each of these notches having a width less than half of the distance which separates the two intake pipes 2 and 3. In this part 16 are also small holes 16 'are provided which are crossed by the lukewarm water mixture when the device is in position to supply the shower.
This same part 16 has on its internal face, and along two diametrically opposed generatrices, two grooves 20 in which the fins or lugs 21 that the rod 12 carries. The rod 12 can therefore slide along its axis inside the part 16 guided by the lugs 21 engaged in the grooves 20, and on the contrary will rotate the part 16 with it when it is subjected to a rotational movement.
The rod 12 carries at its free end a cavity 22 in which engages a small hollow shaft 24 provided, at one of its ends, with fins 25 engaged in corresponding grooves provided inside the cavity 22 This shaft 24 , has at its lower end a widened part 26 pierced with a large window 27 which can be made to correspond to one or the other of the two branches 4 and 5 which respectively supply the bathtub and the shower. All around this part 26 is arranged a cylindrical annular seal 29 pierced
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
holes 28 and 28 'corresponding to the pipes of the bypasses 5 and 4 and in the axis of these pipes. The window 27 could be replaced by a series of suitably arranged holes.
The hollow part 22 of the rod 12 is pierced with several small holes 23 placed at different levels for a purpose which will be better specified later. These small holes could naturally be replaced by a notch or any other suitable opening.
The operating rod 12 can therefore slide axially to completely or partially cut off the hot and cold water supply to the mixer, and turn around its axis in order to vary the proportion of hot water and water. cold admitted into the mixer itself.
The mixer is shown in FIG. 1 in the closed position, that is to say completely cutting off the supply of hot water as well as cold water. If we want to make the device work, the rod 12 is extracted more or less from the body 1 and the end of this rod can be seen precisely (FIG. 2) in the maximum open position. The rod 12 having reached this position is rotated in one direction or the other depending on whether a mixture of more or less hot lukewarm water is desired.
In fact, by rotating the rod 12, the part 16 is rotated at the same time, the hole 17 of which coming, for example, in front of the hot water pipe 2 will allow this water to pass almost exclusively inside the mixer. through hole 15 in trim 14, hole 17 in part 16 and small holes 23 in hollow end 22
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
of the piston rod 12. If, on the contrary, the rod 12 is rotated in the opposite direction, and with it the part 16, the hole 17 will be displaced and the notches 19 and 18 will let pass respectively a plus or large quantity cold water and hot water depending on the position that the part 16 will take with respect to the hot and cold water inlet pipes.
It is therefore understood by coding that it is possible, by an extremely simple and rapid operation, to control and vary the temperature of the water leaving the mixer at will.
This lukewarm water will be distributed to the bathtub through the tubing 4 if a bath is to be prepared, and in this case, always acting on the rod 12, will cause the hollow shaft 24 to rotate so that the opening 27 which has its lower part 26 comes to correspond with the hole 28 'of the fitting 29 as well as with the bypass duct of the tubing 4 leading to the bathtub. If, on the contrary, you want to feed the shower with lukewarm water from this mixer, it will suffice, still acting on the rod 12, to turn the shaft 24 so that the opening 27 matches the hole 28 of the seal 29 and with the tubing duct
5 leading to the shower.
The foregoing description shows how the mixing device which is the subject of the invention works and more precisely also the ease of operation and the advantages presented by this device. In fact, in this mixer, the mixing chamber and the distribution chamber are coaxial and in extension of one another, which is advantageous from certain points of view, and the
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
The device was operated using a single control member, namely the rod 12 with its small flywheel 13, which is not common for devices of this kind either.
The construction details of the various members described above may naturally vary according to needs without thereby departing from the field protected by the present patent.
