Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

   L'installation permettant   d'exécuter-ce   procédé, comporte une chaîne recevant, avançant et  arrêtant/périodiquement   une suite   de\platines     -sur     lesquelles'     sont .effectuées les   différentes opéra- tions, des stations équipées de dispositifs;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

   Lightweight construction materials such as breeze blocks, blocks or bricks can be manufactured using known processes using siliceous industrial residues, in particular fly ash recovered from the fumes from industrial heating installations, and limestone residues. which occur in some industries as impure and unwanted by-products, mainly containing moist hydrated lime.

  By adding quicklime to a mixture of these residues, or to a mixture of one or the other of these residues with corresponding non-residual siliceous or calcareous products, we obtain flowing masses, which set quickly and that it is possible to swell during setting if a substance capable of giving off a gas is added to the mixture in preparation, for example powdered aluminum which will produce hydrogen in reaction.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 health with calcium hydrate. The fixed and swollen mass is then allowed to harden and it is treated for several hours with pressurized steam.

   A product is thus obtained whose weight can be appreciably less than one kilogram per cubic decimetre and whose compressive strength reaches 40 to 60 kilograms per square centimeter, suitable as a light construction material.

   The present invention relates to a process for the continuous manufacture of such lightweight materials, as well as to an installation for carrying out this process. In accordance with this process, the various operations, such as molding, freezing and swelling of the mass, - cutting, demoulding, leveling and hardening of the frozen mass, are carried out on plates which are moved automatically from station to station. the other, each equipped in such a way as to be able to perform a given operation during stops of uniform duration at the different stations, so that at the last station,

  .the plates loaded with a block of green parts having their final dimensions can be transferred to a wagon where a certain number of these plates are superimposed to pass through a device for cooking under pressure with steam 'water, all the parts .one, plate 'being finally surrounded by a hoop to form a block for handling.

   The installation making it possible to carry out this method comprises a chain receiving, advancing and stopping / periodically a series of plates -on which the various operations are carried out, stations equipped with devices;

   to carry out a specific operation during the stops' of the plates, a device for cooking the blocks made up of pieces formatted on the footsteps moved on the chain, and a device for strapping these blocks. , the chain has stations provided with devices for placing a plate on the chain, placing a mold on the plate provided with a cutting device, oiling the mold, filling the mold, freezing and swelling of the contents of the mold,

   demoulding and cutting the block in direction

 vertical in order to form parts such as concrete blocks or bricks of a determined format in two dimensions, hardening, leveling of the block of parts in order to put them in the chosen format in the third dimension, and finally, the transfer of the plate loaded with parts on a passing wagon with several plates' superimposed on the cooking device.

   Each of the molds consists of a metal frame of height slightly greater than the thickness of the block to be molded, and of a frame provided with wires stretched between its opposite edges, at distances corresponding to two dimensions of the parts, to be manufactured. - .quer, the frame with stretched wires being placed on the plate which forms the bottom of the mold and the metal frame fitted into the frame; interposed gaskets ensuring the seal between the plate and the metal frame. Advantageously, the strands stretched between the opposite edges of the frame are mounted on sliders which can be moved along the sides of the frame, in order to be able to easily place the threads according to the dimensions chosen for the parts.

   The fixed and inflated block demoulding and cutting station comprises a device for vertically lifting the taut wire frame and the metal frame nested in this frame, forcing the wires to pass through the frozen mass block and to cut the latter according to two dimensions of the parts, and a device for bringing the mold back to the station at which it is placed on the empty plate, and the leveling station of the block of parts consists of a device horizontal cutting-acting at an adjustable distance from the platen to format the block of parts in the third dimension, and a device for returning the excess material to the starting material mixer.

   The horizontal cutting device preferably comprises a frame with parallel threads stretched longitudinally in a horizontal plane, and guides arranged perpendicular to the chain on either side of the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 frame fitted laterally with rollers rolling on the guides, the frame placed next to the chain being advanced above it, passing the parallel threads through the block of pieces to be trimmed to the desired height, and then lifted d 'one side for sliding the excess material on the inclined plane formed by the parallel threads, in order to drop it on a conveyor belt which brings it back to the mixer.

   As all the stations are provided with a stop of uniform duration, sufficient to carry out a determined mechanical operation there, it is obvious that the chemical-physical reactions, which are of longer duration, must be able to continue, while the plates with their frame full of material advance from several stations on the chatne. Advantageously, these stations are arranged in a heated tunnel which is traversed while the freezing and swelling of the material takes place. The duration of these recations depends on various factors, in particular the composition of the mixture poured in the mold and the temperature prevailing in the tunnel.

   Although these factors may be changed while the installation is in operation, in order to adapt them to the actual conditions, it may be the case, in particular,
 EMI4.1
 ., .¯ .. ,, ..... r .. '"during an adaptation period, that at the exit of the tunnel the state of freezing or.; Of inflation of, the mass is not still well suited to demoulding and cutting. For this reason, it is advisable to provide several consecutive stations with demoulding and cutting devices, and to choose the one of them at which the freezing and swelling are sufficiently advanced.

 to "ensure" correct mold release and still easy cutting.

  As regards more particularly the leveling, this is performed most easily when the upper crust of the block has reached a certain degree of hardening. For this purpose, the plate with the demoulded and cut block is passed through a tunnel with a heated ceiling extending over several stations located between the last demoulding and cutting station and the leveling station.

  The appended drawing represents by way of example several embodiments of the invention.

     Figure 1 is a diagram of an installation for the manufacture of lightweight building materials; Figure, 2 is a perspective view of a plate; , Figure 3 shows in vertical section a mold frame; FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a demoulding and cutting device; Figure 5 is a perspective view of the leveling device in the process of leveling a block; .figure 6 shows the same device when the excess material is discharged onto the conveyor; Figure 7 is an end view of a cart with several stacked loaded decks in the autoclave, and figure 8 shows a block of fired pieces resting on the deck, circled and ready for use. transport to the store.

   The diagram (fig.l) shows a chain A receiving the plates on which the various operations are performed.

  At 20, the plate with the block of raw parts in the final format is transferred to a wagon 21 on which a certain number of plates are superimposed as shown in FIG. 7. The wagons 21 then pass on one of the tracks 22 of the waiting chamber B heated by waste steam, and when a set of wagons corresponding to the loading capacity of an autoclave C is formed, c it is advanced into the autoclave (fig. 7) in which the steaming is carried out under a pressure of 7 to 10 kg / cm2. This takes about 12 hours, including pressurizing and releasing the steam.

   The train of wagons is then brought into the cooling chamber D, from where the wagons pass over the unloading tile E on which the parts of a plate are circled to form a handling block (fig. 8).

   The installation shown in figure 1 is designed to make the chain A work uninterrupted in three eight-hour shifts, the doubling of the channels in the waiting chamber B and in the cooling chamber D allowing on the one hand the regular firing of the blocks produced in 24 hours in one of the six autoclaves C, 'and on the other hand the prolonged parking of the wagons in the chamber D in order to be able to carry out the unloading and the strapping on the tile E during a single eight-hour shift. We can obviously run the chain during only one or two workstations and thus adapt production to the momentary demand, a reduced number of autoclaves then being put into service.

   The wagons unloaded at E pass with their empty plates on track 23 or one of the sidings 24 or 25.

   The plates (fig. 2) consist of a shelf 26 to which are fixed feet 27 whose length exceeds slightly.

 the greatest thickness planned for the blocks. The plates are placed astride the tread 28 supported by rollers 29 (fig.4). The frame of the mold comprises the frame 30 (fig. 3) proper reinforced with angles 31, of height slightly greater than the thickness of the block to be molded, provided at its base with a sealing element 32 and fitted into the mold. the frame 33 which is provided, at distances corresponding to the dimensions of the parts to be molded, with wires 34 stretched between two opposite sides by means of screws 35 mounted on sliders 36 making it possible to quickly adapt the location of the wires to the dimensions chosen for rooms.

    Sufficient clearance is provided between the frame 30 and the frame 33 to prevent the deformation of the frame, caused by the tension of the wires, from being transferred to the frame. The bottom of the mold is constituted by the shelf 26 of the plate. At the molding and cutting station 12, 13 or 14 chosen, the frame 33 (fig. 4) is lifted vertically, together with the frame 30, by the rods 37 of the jacks 38, which passes the wires 34 through the block of fixed and inflated material, by cutting the latter into pieces 39. The demolding and cutting stations are completed by a device (not shown in fig.4) bringing the frame of the mold back to station 2.

   The leveling station comprises a frame 40 with threads 41 stretched longitudinally, driven by rollers 42 on guides 43 so that the frame first moves horizontally (fig. 5) until it is above the plate, the wires 41 cutting during this movement the block of parts 39 near the upper crust and parallel to it in order to format it in the third dimension, and then lift on one side , in the example shown in FIG. 6 under the effect of the guidance, to slide the excess material 44 supported by the parallel son 41 and drop it between two screens 45 on a conveyor belt 46 which brings it back to the material mixer.
