On connaît
 EMI1.2

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   The invention relates to internal combustion engines built in series and combined with a compressor.
 EMI1.1
 one or more str-ges, so as to strengthen a motor-compressor unit with one or more stages. We know
 EMI1.2
 various rs (nlisptions of this type, the link between the motor 1: corol-u;: tion internal and the cornpre; sor as generally constituted by a coupling.

   We know of other drawbacks :; cni t: .onara.ī; feels' in the couplings of such groupas and which in the case of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 teeth. To eliminate these phenomena of wear, rubber buffers have been fitted in the flywheel, without success in eliminating the defects in question in this way.

  Research and observations made on the coupling elements have shown a permanent slight relative slippage of the complementary coupling elements, since the torques imparted to these elements are constantly subject to slight fluctuations. It is extremely difficult to find a solution allowing to obtain a regular operation, considering that one is obliged either to adopt a too high own oscillation frequency, so that the higher harmonics are without danger. or to make the coupling very soft.

   The invention aims to eliminate the drawbacks due to these defects and which arise in particular in groups comprising a small number of cylinders, where it is extremely difficult to ensure the rigidity of the coupling; it further aims to find a solution other than that which can be obtained with the two methods of construction of couplings mentioned above.

   On the basis of the foregoing, the invention aims to ensure that the control of the compressor with one or more stages is ensured by means of a crank button mounted in the flywheel of the internal combustion engine, the connecting rods of the others. cylinders being articulated, as il.is known per se, to the connecting rod mounted on this crank knob. The latter is mounted in the flywheel by means of a flange. However, it can be mounted directly in the flywheel when the rotational speed is not so high that the average piston speeds are too high.

   The advantage of the solution according to the invention lies in the fact that the compressor does not require a crankshaft so that the bearings, required in compressors of current construction, are eliminated. The result is this additional advantage that the entire motor-assembly

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 presser may have a shorter length, resulting in less engagement in non-stationary installations of this type.

   When it is necessary to provide a special fan for the compressor, it is advantageous to arrange that the shaft of the fan, which can be established like a crank, is driven by the crank knob. provided for the compressor connecting rods. This fan supplies the cooling air which is directed to the cylinders and the cylinder heads of the compressor by means of a deflector shroud and which also cools the pipes which connect the compressor cylinders to each other.

   In the case of a compressor with two hostages, it is advantageous to place the second stage at the bottom, since there is always an overpressure in this cylinder, even during suction, which has the effect of fet to reflux the lubricating oil brought under pressure
Two exemplary embodiments of the object of the invention are shown schematically in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of a two-cylinder internal combustion engine to which a compressor is clamped. one stage and multi-cylinder.

   Fig. 2 is a cross section along A-B of FIG. 1.

   Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of an internal combustion engine to which a compressor with fan is flanged.

   Fig. 4 is a cross section along C-D of FIG. 3.

   The crankshaft 1 of the internal combustion engine 2 rotates in the bearings 3, 4 of a tunnel housing 5. The tightness of this housing is ensured, on the side corresponding to the end of the crankshaft on which is mounted, the flywheel '7, by means of a centering flange 6. In the flywheel 7 is mounted a' flange 8 carrying a crank pin 9 to which is joined a connecting rod 10

 connected to the piston 11 of a cylinder,!) of the compressor. The reach. 10 est- étab: Lde de ta: L: Lé que les I3: e! .Es aecondal- rw: L3. and 1: - which moves together with the pistons 1 and 16, in the cylinders 17 and 18 of the compressor - are articulated to this connecting rod 10.

   The cylinders 17, 18 communicate), through the cylinder heads 19, 20 'and' the pipes 21, with a cylinder head .22 and send the compressed fluid 'to the cylinder 12, from where this fluid is then directed, by a pipe of delivery 23, to an accumulator reservoiB, not shown. The cylinders 12, 17 and 18 are mounted in a housing 24 flanged to the housing 5 of the internal combustion engine 2. The two pistons 15 and 16 draw the fluid through them; automatic valves 25, 26 and discharge it to the pipes 21 through other automatic valves 27,28.

   When cooling of the cylinders 12, 17 and 18 of the compressor, as well as of the cylinder heads 19, 20 and 22 is required, the air required for this purpose is drawn in by a fan 29 mounted in cantilever on a shaft. fan 30 shaped as a crank and is directed towards the various cylinders or heads, its by a deflector fairing. From there, the air thus sucked in is discharged through openings 32, 33 of the deflector screens 31 against the cooling fins 34 of the pipes 21 and of the discharge pipe 23. The fan shaft 30 is mounted in a flange of centering 35 embedded in the housing 24 and is driven by the crank pin 9 provided with a square end 36.
