Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 9>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   The present invention relates to a rotary shear cutting sheet or sheets of metal or other similar materials and of any dimensions) the shearing can be performed in a straight, curved or mixed line
With the shears according to the present invention it is possible to cut circular or modulus disks, cams with a special profile, acting on corrugated or flat sheets or sheets. It is also possible to obtain pleats, grooved or profiled ribs, cut strips of different width, with a straight or curved profile, as will be indicated below.

   The main characteristic of the shears, according to the present invention, consists above all in the shape of the frame which makes it possible to move freely, in its plane, the sheet to be cut between two disc blades.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The two parts into which the sheet is divided after shearing, are conveyed, by means of said blades, one in a corridor, the other in a lower corridor, after a slight downward deflection, determined by an inclined plane making part of the frame of the machine and more particularly of a substantially horizontal plate which, in combination with a vertical or inclined wall, creates said corridors behind the cutting discs.

   The rotation of the discs can be achieved by hand or by means of a motor. When you want to shear the sheet along a curved line, it will suffice to move said sheet around the points of contact of the two cutting discs, while maintaining the plane of the discs in a direction tangent to the curve at the point shear.

   To facilitate this operation, which necessarily involves a movement of the sheet in its plane and therefore requires that there be a certain free space both in front of and beyond the cutting discs, the two above-mentioned corridors - born each have a curved wall having a curvature in the opposite direction to one another, which walls are placed at a different height from each other so that the operator is free to move way the sheet in its plane according to the requirements of the useful curvature. to the cut.

   The shears according to the present invention, provided with tools which also form part of the invention, are suitable for a large number of uses, such as, for example, cutting discs, preparing buttonholes or windows of n. 'any format, even inside the sheet; it can also be used to operate hot on plates or sheets of plastic material or metal or alloys which, because of their structure, would be liable to break if they were cut with a shear of the normal type.

   Other advantages of the invention will emerge from the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 description which follows of some preferred embodiments which are presented by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.

   Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of the machine;
Fig. 2 shows the same machine seen from the front;
Fig. 3 is a plan view;
Fig. 4 shows a shears according to the present invention adapted to apply certain accessories thereto;
Fig. 5 shows in detail the ratchet device for the hand lever of the shear;
Figs. 6 and 7 show cutting discs for cutting strips and making folds and ribs in the sheet;
Fig. 8 shows a disc provided with heating resistors, for making cuts or folds on plates of special material;
Fig. 9 is a schematic view of the shears to which is applied a device for dressing the bands; sheets deformed during machining.

   Fig. 10 schematically shows how buttonholes are made in the sheet, using the shears according to the present invention.

   Fig. 11 shows how it is possible to automatically make spiral cuts or in general according to a determined profile.

   Referring to figs. 1 to 3, the shear according to the invention consists of a frame, two rotating cutting discs and a transmission for actuating said discs at the same peripheral speed but in the opposite direction.

   The frame consists of a base 15 which rises a vertical or inclined aprei 16 and divided into two parts, one of which is flat anterior 16a and the other curved posterior 16b '.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

A substantially horizontal plate 17 is integral with the rear wall 16b. The lower surface of this plate is inclined, that is to say it starts from a thin anterior edge and gradually increases in thickness to its posterior end.

   Above the horizontal plate 17 and integral with it, rises another wall 18 symmetrical to the wall 16 and also constituted by a flat part 18a and a curved part 18b, the curvature of this wall 18b being direction opposite to that of part 16b of wall 16.

   The walls 16 and 18 are placed at different heights on the base 15 and delimit, one on the right and the other on the left, the previously mentioned corridors, without preventing the sheet metal, because of the diversity of the curves 16b and 18b, to move in its plane, the center of which coincides with the point of tangency of the cutting discs, when you want to make cuts along a curve.

     ¯¯ On the front flat wall 16a is pivotally mounted a cutting disc 20 and on the upper wall 18a a corresponding disc 21, tangent to the disc 20 at point A.

   Usually, the two discs 20 and 21 do not touch each other at a single point, but have a slight overlap., The movements to be given to the sheet to make cuts along curves are easier when the overlap of the discs is very small or well when the plane of the discs is more or less inclined with respect to the upper surface of the plate 17. In some cases, the discs may also not be in contact with each other. To this end, the discs will be mounted on bearings which allow their height to be adjusted.

   The two discs 20 and 21 can be operated both by hand and with a motor. In the first case (fig. 3)

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 a gear 24 is mounted integral with the pivot 23 on which the disc 21 is keyed. This gear meshes with the pin 25 whose axis 26 is mounted on a support 27 integral with the wall 18b. A pinion 28 actuates by means of a pinion 29 a shaft 30 which passes through the rear part of the machine and by means of the pinion 29 'actuates a group of axes and gears quite similar to the group described above, with the difference that a gear 31 is interposed between the pinions 29 'and 28' to reverse the direction of rotation of the disc 20.

   The transmission components located to the left of fig. 3 are marked by the same numbers as the corresponding parts to the right of said figure, but with the mention flet '..

   The cutting discs are set in motion by means of a lever 32, the end eye of which is arranged on the pivot 23 which has saw teeth at its periphery which engage other similar cut-out teeth. end of a small cylinder 33 which is urged by a spring to engage with the teeth of the pivot 23 ..

   The spring tension is regulated by a screw 35. Due to the reciprocating movement of the lever 32 the discs rotate only in the direction of shear.

   When the shears are actuated by a motor, the latter is preferably placed below the base and is connected by the interposition of a speed reducer to a chain with kinematic movement for the purpose of actuating the discs. cutting.

   FIG. 4 represents a variant of the shears, aiming above all to use different tools which make said shears capable of completing special works. This shears differs from that shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 in that the walls 16 and 18 are flat. The reference numbers therefore remain the same.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

   In this solution, the two corridors for directing the two parts of the sheet after shearing are also provided. One of these corridors is delimited (FIG. 4) by the vertical or inclined wall 18 and by the horizontal plane 17; the other is behind the wall 16 and is limited above by the same plate 17, which presents the inclined plane mentioned above, visible in dotted lines in FIG. 4.

   In fig. 11, the members for transmitting the movement to the cutting discs have been omitted for the sake of clarity: - this figure shows the shears according to the present invention with the different tools which moreover may not be used all at the same time.

   A bar 43 is mounted axially to the axis of the disc 20 so as to be able to slide but not to rotate on this axis.

  This bar extends to the right and to the left of said disc and is mounted on one or more supports 41 fixed to the base 15.

  This bar ends at one of its ends with a handle 43 'which in turn ends with two parallel branches, the upper branch of which carries a sleeve 49 on which is mounted a bearing 45 which, with another bearing 45' which makes it a pendant, clamps at a suitable point, the sheet from which we want to cut. a disk. The bearings 45 and 45 ', which can rotate with the shear plate, are mounted on tapered pins by any known method, and are tightened by a screw 46 with locknut 47. The bearing 45' is supported by a small support 50 which can be fixed in the suitable position on the bar 43 by means of a screw 51.

   When small diameter discs have to be cut from sheet metal, a special U-shaped support 44 is used (fig. 4 with horizontal arms, the ends of which have a bearing device 45 quite similar to that that has been described above.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

   When the disc can be drilled or dotted, the rotary bearings 45 can be eliminated. The screw 46 ends with a point which establishes the center of rotation of the disc.

   The small support column 52 (fig. 11) makes it possible to cut strips of sheet of constant size and of inclination desired, with respect to the direction of advance of the sheet.

  To this end, said support 52 comprises - in a rotating manner around a ferrule which can be fixed by means of a pressure screw - a plane 53 oriented towards the point of tangency of the two disc blades. .

   Fig. 6 shows how a strip of the desired size can be cut from the sheet. Instead of blades, two rollers 54 and 54 'are mounted on the axes of the discs, the second of which has a sharp-edged groove at its periphery to which corresponds a cutting edge of the roller 54.

   When it is desired to conform the edges of the sheet to said different profiles, the rollers 55-55 'which are shown in fig. 7, and if for example we want to practice one. In order to remove a frame of any profile from the sheet, a cutting blade 56, shown in dotted lines, is placed next to the roller 55, which enables the continuous shearing of the sheet to be carried out. that is to say directing the two cut pieces of the sheet, one in the corridor below the inclined plane 17, and the other next to the wall 18.

   In certain cases, tearing - or damage to the cutting edges of a sheet of special material can be prevented by heating the bending rollers or the blades, by means of electric resistances supplied by brush contacts or the like (fig. . 8).

   The resistors 58 are suitably arranged in the rollers or in the cutting discs and are fed by means of brushes 59 which slide on collectors 60.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 8>

   Of particular interest may be the use of module blades or rollers. For example a pair of blades of this type can be used to shear corrugated sheets or teeth blades, cut edges or the like, even of plastic material, by the use of heated rollers or blades as shown. in fig. 8.

   It often happens that the bands or ribbons cut from a metal sheet or from sheets of various plastic materials, using the rollers shown in FIG. 6, tend to roll up in the form of a helix. In this case, a device is provided consisting of three or more rollers 61 arranged like those of a calender, to dress said strips (fig.9).

  Fig. 10 schematically shows a rotary shear in which one of the disc blades is keyed to an eccentric pivot 62. During part of its stroke this blade lifts from the sheet to be sheared, so as to allow the introduction of this sheet in a window 70. If the latter is deep enough, buttonholes or even closed figures can be cut from the sheet either by a pair of blades or by a pair of rollers, as shown in FIG. 6.

   Fig. 11 shows how a continuous banae can be cut from a sheet metal disc or the like along a spiral line.

   A pinion 67 is integral with the bearing 66 on which the disc 20 is keyed, and meshes with another similar pinion 68 mounted idle below the plate 17 of the shear.

   The pinion 68 rotates a similar pinion 69, which is mounted in a rotating bearing in the bearings of the support 41. In this bearing can slide, without being able to turn, a threaded sleeve 64 and fixed to the bar 43, of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 9>

 so that the pinion 69, which has an internally threaded part, by its rotation, moves the bar 43 and the center of the disc 65 too, so that the discs 20-21 make a spiral cut of pitch proportional to the pitch of screw 64.

   If instead of the screw 64 is fixed to the bar 43 a sleeve having on its surface grooves of suitable shape in which engage the pivots engaging inside the pinion 69, it will be possible to cut sheets or discs. with helical edges or differently shaped.
