Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   REVENDICATIONS.

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   The present invention relates to a device for controlling an adjustable hydraulic transmission for vehicles, particularly for transport trucks, which meets all the requirements of practice and the operation of which complies with the usual normal conditions of motor vehicles.

  The control according to the invention makes it possible to actuate the entire hydraulic system without using a valve, apart from a reversing valve and a safety valve which is indispensable in itself. In this control the direction of travel is determined as hitherto by properly operating a lever, while the starting is done using a second lever or pedal which corresponds to the usual clutch pedal. The gas pedal and the brake pedal are carried out and maneuvered as before.

   According to the present invention, after having selected the direction of travel with the aid of a reversing valve, a piston in a cylinder is actuated with the aid of a lever, preferably a pedal. of a spring, so that hydraulic fluid such as oil is drawn from a reservoir into a cylinder chamber via a one-way valve, and when the pedal is released, the spring actuates a piston control which, in turn, acts on the tilting plate of an axial piston pump, which it does. leave its neutral position by tilting it. When the piston connected to the pedal is fully returned by the spring, the pump plate is at maximum, and the pump delivers at maximum.

   The other face of the control piston is attacked by the pressurized hydraulic fluid of the hydraulic transmission, which has the effect of automatically returning the piston and, consequently, the pump plate in a position such that the torque available vehicle engine is not exceeded. For this purpose, and according to the invention, the spring is calculated according to the characteristics of the engine of the vehicle and thus provides automatic adjustment for a wide range of engine speeds.

   Pre-selection of the direction of travel is effected by means of a control valve actuated by a lever, and according to the present invention, this valve controls in one of its extreme positions one of the control valves and in the other terminal position the other control valve, while in the neutral position it connects the two control pistons and the pedal operated piston cylinder to the hydraulic fluid reservoir. In order to return the pump plate to the neutral position when the reversing valve itself is in the neutral position, the two control pistons are provided with return springs.

   Furthermore, according to the invention, instead of being taken from a reservoir, the reserve hydraulic fluid used for the control can be taken from the flow line of another hydraulic fluid circuit. In the event that the vehicle must be operated by a force other than its own, an additional valve, or the opening of the safety valve allows the hydraulic circuit between the pump and the hydraulic motor to be short-circuited.

   The invention will be described in detail below, with reference to the attached schematic drawing, in which: FIG. 1 shows the control according to the invention; Figure 2 shows the reversing valve and the flow of hydraulic fluid when the lever of this valve is in the reverse end position, and Figure 3 is another view of the direction valve showing the flow of fluid hydraulic when the valve lever is in the neutral position.

   Reference numeral 1 in fig. 1 designates the pump of the hydraulic transmission, the flow rate of which can be adjusted by the inclination of a tilting plate 2, in a manner known per se. According to the direction of the inclination of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 this plate 2, the hydraulic motor 3 turns to the right, or to the left. The tilting platform 2 is actuated by control pistons 4 and 5. The direction of travel of the vehicle is determined by actuating a reversing valve.
6 by means of a lever 7. The control pistons 4 and 5 are actuated by the piston 8, one side of which is subjected to the action of a spring 9.

   When a lever, preferably a pedal 10, is actuated, the spring 9 compresses and a vacuum is created in the chamber 11 of the cylinder which draws hydraulic fluid from the reservoir 12 into the chamber of the cylinder via an appropriate pipe. prayed.

   When the pedal 10 is released, the hydraulic fluid which is prevented from returning to the reservoir 12 by the shut-off valve 13, acts on the control piston 4 or 5, passing through appropriate pipes and the overflow valve, 6.-Figure 1 of the drawing shows the case where the control piston 4 is actuated. The latter advances and tilts the tilting plate 2 as far as possible when the pedal 10 is completely released, the control piston 5 being pushed back to a corresponding extent. The hydraulic fluid located under the control piston 5 is therefore pumped into the reservoir 12 through the reversing valve 6.

   The control pistons 4 or 5 are forced into the neutral position by the springs 14 and 15 when the valve 6 is brought to the neutral position and the hydraulic fluid flows as shown in figure 3, this neutral position of the pistons control
4 and 5 also bringing the tilting plate 2 to the neutral position, so that the pump 1 is in neutral. The springs 14 and 15 are calculated so as to just bring the plate back to this position. The piston rod side of the control pistons 4 and 5 is connected via lines 16, 17 to lines 18 and 19 going to the hydraulic motor 3. Lines 18 and 19 are connected together in known manner by a closed line 20. by a pressure relief valve 21.

   The conduits 22 and 23 communicate with each other by a valve 24 which short-circuits them when it is actuated and isolates them when it is not actuated.

   A vehicle equipped with a hydraulic control according to the invention, particularly a transport trolley operates as described below.

   To start the engine, place the reversing valve 6 in the neutral position. The two supply lines to the control pistons 4 or 5 are short-circuited, while the springs 14 and 15 also bring the tilting plate 2 into the neutral position. The engine can thus be started without any load.

   To start the vehicle, the pedal 10 is depressed; The spring 9 is compressed, by the piston 8 and at the same time the chamber 11 fills with oil from the reservoir 12. The reversing valve 6 is then placed in the position corresponding to the desired direction of travel, at using lever 7, after which the pedal 10 is released; At the same time, the engine is accelerated with the help of the gas pedal. When the pedal 10 is released, the hydraulic fluid sucked into the chamber 11, for example, actuates the control piston 4 which tilts the plate 2 into its position of maximum inclination. The forward speed is then adjusted only using the gas pedal.

   The construction according to the invention also makes it possible, without further ado, to pre-select the direction of travel by means of the reversing valve of
 EMI2.1
 gear 6, before ¯cllick pedal 10.

   When the vehicle moves forward at a determined speed and has to climb a hill, the torque required by the drive wheels increases. The pressure in the pipes 18 or 19 from the pump 1 to the hydraulic motor 3 also increases. This pressure acts through lines 16 or 17 on the piston rod side of control pistons 4 or 5 and thus also through valve 6 on piston 8 which in turn acts on spring 9 ; Depending on the pressure prevailing in the system, this spring determines the angle of inclination

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 of the plate 2 and thus the flow rate of the pump 1 and the speed of the hydraulic motor 3. In this way, an automatic change of the torque is obtained.

  The calculation of the characteristic of the spring 9 makes it possible to adapt the hydraulic transmission to a very great extent to the characteristics of the engine of the vehicle. The maximum pressure of the pump, generated in the system, is limited in a known manner by the safety valve 21.

   When the vehicle is to be braked while moving, the throttle pedal is allowed to return as in normal vehicle conditions and, if necessary, the brake is additionally applied using the normal foot brake. When actuating the foot brake, if necessary, the hydraulic motor (s) 3 can be short-circuited via line 20, for example by lifting the safety valve 21. It is also possible to bypass completely brake pedal and brake the vehicle by depressing the pedal.

   To stop the vehicle, as usual, the foot brake and pedal 10 are depressed. If the foot brake is not used, the vehicle can be braked and brought to a stop only by pressing the pedal. 10, the braking increasing with the depressing of this pedal, given that when it is fully depressed, the plate 2 is returned to the neutral position, with a constant increase in the reduction of the hydraulic transmission.

  In the neutral position of the plate 2, that is to say when the pedal 10 is fully depressed, the hydraulic fluid can no longer pass? by pump 1.

  A braking torque is therefore available in the hydraulic motor which corresponds to the pressure for which the safety valve 21 is adjusted. If the valve 24 is connected to the driver's seat, or to the cabin of the vehicle, the plate 2 can only be tilted and the vehicle started if this valve 24 is closed. On the other hand, in the event of forced abandonment of the vehicle by its driver, the valve 24 opens, which has the effect of bringing the plate 2 to neutral and automatically braking the vehicle.

   The control according to the invention has the advantage of having a simple general form and of not requiring any special linkage or valves. It suffices to provide the safety and direction control valves existing in any hydraulic system and which can easily be mounted on the steering wheel of the vehicle. The connections between the pump to be controlled, the direction of travel control valve, and the pistons are reduced to a minimum, that is to say to two pipes of small cross section. Another advantage is that the inclination of the tilting plate of the pump is obtained by means of a piston cylinder in which is simply mounted a spring which automatically carries out the adjustment for both directions of rotation.
