 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 9>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 10>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 12>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 13>

    ELECTRICAL HEATING BODIES FIXING PROCESS
The present invention relates to a method for fixing electric heating bodies, in particular tubular heating bodies, in the opening of the receptacle, which method is arranged between the branch or branches of the tubular heating body and the The opening of the wall, a resilient sealing piece, the circumference of which to be applied against the opening of the wall is greater, when in a relaxed state, than the circumference of the opening of the wall.

   We already oonnait a heating body fixing, in particular for the heating bodies of devices for heating liquids, using a gasket or sealing piece intended to be housed in a wall of the receptacle, this fastener with a

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 pressure to be introduced into the receptacle, attached directly to two or more ends of the heating body, and a pressure plate resting freely on the ends of the heating bodies, located outside the receptacle, as well as 'a tight closing piece placed between the two pressure plates, placed on the ends of the heating oorpe, which can be moved aside laterally, after the lead is in place in the opening in the wall of the container,

   by a frontal pressure exerted with the aid of the two pressure plates, and filling by this means cover mena * gée in the wall, of such aorta that this sealing part closes this opening in a stable manner, this part of etoheity serving to simultaneously hold the heater (s) in the opening of the wall having a surface area substantially equal to that of the two pressure plates which are approximately of equal size. This fastening system has the drawback that it takes two pressure plates, as well as a lifetime with a locknut, to laterally spread the sealing piece after it has been fitted into the opening in the wall. of the container.

   An improved device of this type comprises a rubber sealing piece intended to be put in place and therefore the opening made in the wall of the container, while in the orifice where each of the passage orifices. through the end or ends of the heating body, is placed a threaded clamping raooord serving as a bearing for the ends of the heating body and permanently fixed on said ends, this connection comprising separate clamping members. placed on the side at the end, preferably performed under the

   However,: t: I;.,; .. t8 carried out in this senau did not give 1 ".hmlta1as": successful in practice :, and this for the following reasons: t when the part of waterproofness. has elasticity

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 Usually relatively flexible, the material accumulates on the surface which dies in a cone, in front of the opening in the wall, when the sealing piece is pushed in.

   No force, however great, is then able to push the sealing piece into the opening of the container, because the section of the sealing piece increases at the same time as the pressure force itself. Therefore, for this method, only. relatively hard sealing parts, However, even in this oaa, the perimeter of the sealing part should be only slightly. greater than that of the wall opening. However, in this case, the opening of the wall must be carried out with great precision, but the pressure of application of the throat trap centers the opening of the wall under the action of its own. elasticity is much too low to provide a corresponding tight seal against liquids.

   In oure, under the effect of old age. sow material, the initial application pressure which is already low by itself drops very quickly, to the point of canceling itself out.

   According to the present invention, a process is applied under these conditions which avoids the drawbacks of the methods described. In the method according to the invention, it is superfluous to use clamping fittings or pressure plates. The airtight closing o against the opening of the wall and, where appropriate, o against the branches of the heating body even is effected under the effect of the inherent elasticity of the material of the sealing part.

   The method according to the invention consists, in this case,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 in that a sealing piece is used the circumference of which is of a length greater than that of the circumference of the opening 1a. wall of such an amount that it is impossible to push the sealing part into the tare opening of the wall with the usual forces. For its installation in the opening of the wall, the sealing piece is stretched by means of a force acting in the center of the axis, to reduce by this means its periphery to a value which corresponds to the periphery of the opening of the wall.

   When the installation of the sealing piece is completed, the force acting in the direction of the axis is released, so that this sealing piece is shortened in the direction of the axis and applies elastic - ment- against the edge of the container opening.

   According to a preferred embodiment of the prooédé, a sealing part is used which has, in a manner known per se, at least one main opening intended to receive a branch of a tubular heating body. Before releasing the stretching force acting in the direction of the axis, the branch of the heating body is introduced into the main opening of the sealing piece, so that the latter, when 'it shortens, applies, uon only against the wall of the container, but also against the branch of the heating body, and oela so as to achieve liquid tightness.

   Of course, in this embodiment, it is also possible to provide in the shoring piece several holes receiving several branches of the heating body *
We doraie at the opening in the wall preferably

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 a size such that the perimeter of the piece of etanoheity which rests against the opening of the wall is at least 7% greater in length, when in the relaxed state, around the perimeter of the opening of the wall.

     The thickness of the wall, the elasticity of the material and the diameter of the heating body are advantageously matched to the diameter of the opening in the wall so that the sealing piece is applied under the action of its own elasticity against the opening of the wall with a pressure of at least 1 kg / cm2,
Particularly advantageous results have been obtained with an embodiment in which a sealing piece has been used having, in a manner known per se, an annular flange intended for the application against. the wall of the container.

   The stretching of the sealing piece is effected by means of a force acting on the end situated opposite the annular rim, while this rim is pressed against the wall of the container.

   The use of the drawing force acting in the direction of the axis on the piece of etanoheity can be done in different ways. Thus, for example, we can use a sealing piece which carries a heel or extension of which the seotion is smaller than that of the opening of the wall. The stretching force, which is exerted, for example, by means of a tool similar to a pliers, is then applied to the heel which has been passed through the opening of the container.

   On the other hand, it is possible to use an annular sealing part in section, which carries soot from the extracts the annular rim and

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

 has at its other end the heel having a diameter smaller than that of the opening in the wall, while the heel is preferably of a length such that it surrounds the location of the connection of the power cable branches of the tubular heating body.

   The middle zone located between the annular rim and the heel has a diameter greater than that of the opening of the wall, and preferably an interior diameter a little smaller than that of the branch of the tubular heating body.
To activate the stretching force,

   it is also possible to use a sealing piece whose main bore or the main holes intended to receive the branch or branches of the heating body tvbulaixe are each closed by a separation element such aorta that the sealing piece can be stretched by the introduction of a thrust bar or ercore of the branch itself of the tubular heating body. After the sealing part has been placed in the opening in the wall, the partition wall is pierced by ugnentant the thrust force, or else by causing cutting members to act, or else by using both means.

   According to another preferred volume of execution, a sealing part is used in which has been embedded, in particular during vulcanization, a plate, preferably metallic, which has at least one additional lateral bore leading from the outer side to the top. than to the plate. For placing the sealing piece in the wall opening or for inserting the connector (s) of the tubular heating body into the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 8>

 bore or the main bores, the sealing part is stretched by the introduction, into the lateral bore, of a pressure member or tool, for example a pressure screw.

   On the other hand, it is possible to use branches of tubular heating bodies which have support elements which move apart laterally, penetrating into the mass of the sealing piece, for example rings which have been fitted on the said branches. , which were fixed there by gluing or by ordinary welding. The sealing piece Gur is then mounted first of all on the branch or branches of the tubular heating body. This operation can also be done before the vulcanization of the sealing part.

  Subsequently, the assembly thus prepared is introduced into the opening in the wall, stretching the sealing part by applying a corresponding pressure or traction bore on the branch of the tubular heating body.

   Elk pieces * can also be used. chéité in which is embedded coaxially at least one coil spring subjected to a preliminary tension, or in which other elastic members have been provided, for example files subjected to a tension, so that from the point of view of the effect produced by the coil spring or the other elastic members ensure the achievement of the application pressure necessary for the sealed closure when the inherent elasticity of the material of the sealing part decreases due to aging.

   The elastic force which exerts its action when the tension of the sealing part decreases can

 <Desc / Clms Page number 9>

 still be used for other purposes, for example to apply a protective earthing cover, or a protective earthing bracket, against the outer wall of the container.

   On the other hand, the sealing piece can be fixed in its stretched state on the branch of the heating body. After placing the slide thus obtained in the opening of the wall, the piece of etanoheity is released for relaxation. This release of the sealing part can be done, for example, by removing, by unpicking, a part of this part which bears against the branch of the heating body. To release the sealing piece, it is also possible to cut a cup-shaped heel surrounding the end of the branch of the heating body.

   According to another preferred embodiment * of the method, it is possible to use a sealing piece which has a notch, preferably circular, surrounding the branch or branches of the heating body. In order to place the sealing piece in the opening in the wall, a tool of annular section is inserted into the notch, while stretching the sealing piece. On the other hand, according to the present invention, it is possible to use an assembly in which several, and in particular two branches of the heating body have been fixed by ordinary welding and in a manner known per se. a cup-shaped flange plate.

   The flange plate is then introduced into the opening in the wall, at the same time as a sealing part which surrounds it, this part being simultaneously stretched, following which one

 <Desc / Clms Page number 10>

 let the sealing piece relax.

Fig. 15 - represents a tenth possible embodiment of the method according to the invention.

   In all the figures, the wall of the container in which there is an opening is designated by
1. The opening in the wall will generally be circular, but it may also have other shapes, for example be oval, square or rectangular.

   '(oilW :. For the implementation of the processes shown in Figs. 1 to 5, a sealing piece is used which has an annular rim 2, a middle zone 3 having an outer diameter substantially greater than that of the opening formed in the wall 1 of the receptacle,. and an extension 4 having a diameter smaller than that of the opening in the wall. The sealing piece is made of an elastic material, generally of a temperature-resistant undacuthouo. high and caustic lye.

   To place the sealing piece in the opening of the wall, the extension is pushed in
4 in the wall opening. According to the present invention, a stretching force is then made to act on the sealing piece, for example by pulling, depending on the embodiment of the rods. 1 and 2, the extension 4 by means of a tool, for example a pliers. Under the action of this stretching force, the outside diameter of the middle zone 3 decreases, so that this zone can be introduced to a depth such, in the opening of the wall, that the annular rim 2 applies. against read par 1 of the real ** pient.

   At this time, one can pass a branch 5 of a tubular heating body through the bore engaged in the middle of the sealing part, where this has not been done.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 12>

 not already done before. If the extension 4 is then released, the sealing piece relaxes to a degree such that the middle zone 3 is applied under a corresponding pressure against the edge of the opening in the wall and against the branch 5 of the heating body. tubular, as shown in fig. 2. This unexpected effect can best be demonstrated by means of a numerical example.

   The internal bore of the sealing piece will be assumed equal to 9mm, the external diameter of the branch of the tubular heating body of 10mm, the diameter of the wall opening of 15mm, the external diameter of the area median 18 mm and the diameter of the annular rim 25 mm. In this way, the branch 5 of the tubular heating body is embedded with such a hole, in the sealing piece, that it is impossible to pull this branch by hand out of the sealing piece.

   Said it. The difference in diameter between branch 5 of the tubular heating body and the opening in the wall is 5 mm, the difference in diameter between the internal bore of the sealing piece and the external diameter of the middle part 3 is however of 9 mm. The material is therefore compressed by 4 mm, in the shape of the piece of etanoheity put in place as shown in fig. 2, which explains the high pressure of application against the opening of the wall and against branch 5 of the heating body.

   It is understood that with these dimensions it would be impossible to push in the sealing piece before, for example, the arrangement of FIG. 1, in the opening of the wall by the application of a pressing force.

   In the second embodiment of the p @@@ edé

 <Desc / Clms Page number 13>

 according to the invention, in accordance with figs 3 and 4, the sealing piece has in its internal bore a dividing wall 6. The stretching or the elongation of the sealing part can, in this case, be effected by a pressure exerted on the fixed separation pole, using a pushing tool or the branch 5 itself, of the tubular heating body. We could, naturally ** slowly, pull, or more, by means of pliers for example, on the extension 4.

   When, by stretching the sealing piece, the latter has been introduced to such a degree in the opening of the wall that the annula ire rim 2 is applied against the wall 1 of the container ,. we. pierces the partition wall 6 by overloading it @ jerkily, possibly thinly using a cutting tool inserted in the extension 4.

   It is then sufficient to introduce the branch 5 of the tubular heating body to a degree such that it barely protrudes a small amount from the wall 1 of the receptacle, that is to say the connection location 7 of the branch 5 of the tubular heating body comes to be placed in the shelter of the protrusion 4 * For this, this extension 4 can be substantially extended at 4a, as shown in FIG. 11, and provide in 4b a reduced section receiving the feed wire * of the current.

   Fig. 11 therefore shows the position of the branch. 5 of the tubular heating body in which it is possible to weld by ordinary soldering, or fix in another way, a current supply wire on terminal 7. Then, branch 5 of the heating body would be removed. bular / so that the location of the connection is placed entirely in the extension 4a of

 the inside of the branch of the heating body is enclosed, egcleiaent in such a way that the humidity

   It is also possible to weld by ordinary welding the two branches 5 of the heating body in a flange plate 20 in the form of a cup. The flange-like plate 20 is then placed in the opening in the wall with a sealing piece of a corresponding shape, in a tiny temple which the sealing piece is stretched by pulling. corresponding to extension 4.

   The embodiment shown in FIG. 15 corresponds substantially to that of the pin 12. It serves to make it understood that it is still possible to take advantage for other purposes also of the elastic return force of the part d. sealing, for example to apply a protective cover 21 for earthing against the wall 1 of the container.

   The stages of the process which are shown in the different embodiments can be combined with each other to thereby improve the stretching or elongation of the sealing piece.

   It is essential that, in the method according to the present invention, the pressure of application of the sealing piece against the opening of the wall or the branches of the heating bodies, or else both against this opening and these branches, results from the elastic relaxation of the material of the sealing piece, while, in the known embodiments comprising pressure plates, clamping or tension fittings or the like, the elastic pressure of the sealing piece material acts

 <Desc / Clms Page number 17>

 in the opposite direction of the sealed closing pressure It can be seen, on the other hand, that the phases of the process which are represented are accessible to automation.

   The installation of the sealing parts can, therefore, be done according to the invention more quickly than with oonnus methods.

     In addition to the branches of the heating body or instead of the latter, it is possible to engage, through the corresponding holes in the tubular heating body, other elements which must be introduced into the receptacle by a tight seal, for example from organs sensitive devices for regulating temperature or pressure,
