 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

   Les figures 10, 11 et 12   représentent   une forme modifiée d'organes de coupe, dans laquelle la roue de coupe 67 est montée sur une face de   l'hélicoïde   des tarières, plutôt que dans le plan du bord de celle-ci, comme aux figures 7, 8 et 9. La roue de coupe   67   est montée sur un   coté   de   l'hélicolde   43, au moyen d'un pivot   68   passant dans une ouverture 69, au centre de la roue, et également dans l'hélicoïde 43;

  The appliques 26 are not protruding Bous the rods 15 and are connected by a pivot, at 28, to the rear end of the lever arm 29, the front extracts of which are connected by pivots, at 30, to the tractor T.

  The corresponding ends of the lever arms 31 are pivotally attached to the lever arms 29, at 32, and their opposite ends are pivotally connected, at 33, to the lifting device 34 of the tractor.

   A drive shaft 35 carries at its inner end a universal joint 36 with the power take-off of the tractor and at its outer end, this shaft carries a universal joint, at 37, with a shaft end 38 rotatably mounted in bearings 39 of the gear boot 11. The inner end of the shaft end 38 carries a pinion 40, for a purpose which will be explained below.

   The frame 10 of the digging head mentioned above consists of a spoil shield 41 which, retort indicated more particularly in FIG. 5, is made up of two sections 42, of concave-convex shape, connected together, the curvatures of which have their center on the axes of a;: air auger 43.

   The pitch of the augers is such that they can move the earth: dry, ie. the earth in its natural state. It is obvious that the present invention does not involve the use of a central bore of any shaft. Frame 10 further comprises a vertical file 44, projecting from the convex face of each shield section 42; both are parallel and normal to a tangent at their base and their outer edges are provided with symmetrical wings 45.

   In addition, the shield sections 42 are each provided with a support 46, near their outer edge. As shown in FIGS. 2, 3 and 0, the gear case 11 is mounted at the upper end of the frame 10 and the upper ends: webs 44 and wings 45 are rigidly attached thereto, a lower support plate and a trench clearing device 47 are mounted at the lower end of the frame 10 and comprise as

   Figures 7, 8 and 9 show a satisfactory drive of cutting members, comprising a wheel 61 the periphery of which is provided with triangular teeth 62 with very sharp ends. The impeller ol is mounted in a hollow 6) from the edge of the helicoid 43 of the augers and the wall of the recess is preferably concentric with the axis of the impeller, as clearly shown in Figure 8.

  The lever arms 34 on the tractor, cOIJ, cI, md # hydraulically are released and there follows a descent by gravity of the digging head comprising the frame 10 and the augers ue 43, only to a position where it engages the ground; at the same time / the control shaft 35 is driven in rotation by the required force of the tractor. In the position where it engages the ground, the head is subjected to its own weight and in order to ensure a more efficient digging operation, it is initially arranged at a certain angle with respect to the vertical, as shown in figure 1
 EMI9.2
 and this angle can be easily varied by varying sections 23 and 24 of the telescopic frame.

   The two augers 43
 EMI9.3
 arranged laterally rotate in direction oyooèa, in order to avoid a lateral displacement, and on the rotation of the augers, the wheels of cunJe 01 or t.l7 will perform, jar following their overall movement and their individual rotation around their axis , a rapid cutting operation, while the detached material will be transported upwards by the auger heads, to be placed in the middle of the shield 41, on the sides of the trench. The materials thus transported upwards will be separated laterally by the curved bulldozer ls 5, which advance along the subject of the trench, apparatus that the parts of the augers located under them have penetrated into the ground.

   We can vary the position

 in height of the bulldozer blades by adjustments made by means of the devices 3î z and 55. Co, ze the helicoids of the two augers overlap, they will be cleaned automatically and as they advance in the digging of the trench, the lower support plate 47 cleans the bottom thereof.

   If you want to dig a vertical trench in soil with an inclined surface on which the tractor T is to move, the frame 12, 13, 14 can be adjusted supporting the digging head around the axis of the rod 19, by properly adjusting the support rods 31 so that a rod 15 moves a vertical distance different from the distance of travel
