 EMI1.2

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 20>

The selvedge mechanism according to the aforementioned patent comprises two devices for commanding the selvedge son operating in opposition, with a frame of lists for each device. The dobby and the heddle frame are
 EMI2.3
controlled by a chain with cleats, a perforated plate or other kind of diapaaiti which one can qualify as "them-face of armor", and if one makes a mistake while preparing this one, the two frames can go up or descend simultaneously instead of operating in reverse of each other, which causes the appearance of a fault, all the warp threads being above or respectively below the pick,

The selvedge mechanism according to the aforementioned patent 'comprises two vertical needles whose spikes are traversed.

who act on these fila to move them first in one mens, then in the other.

Behind the aforementioned tents is placed an uncut member for the passage of the son and entrafé positively, this member having the role of causing a slight bend in the files as they approach said member, These bends possibly exert transverse forces which interfere with the free sliding of the split organ.

The present invention also aims to establish oblique slits in a second positively controlled sliding member, with a view to eliminating the aforementioned bends and thus to avoid the transverse forces indicated above by preventing any interference with the sliding movement of the first member. .

The invention also aims to make it possible to establish a set of sliding members and needles arranged in such a way that two identical sets can be used on either side of the loom by simply turning one of them. half a turn around a horizontal axis. Each assembly comprises, at the top and at the bottom, means for fixing to an actuator device at points preferably, although not necessarily, in the transverse alignment of the axis of the needles. Due to the way in which the assembly considered is produced, it is not necessary to provide two separate assemblies, one for the right side, the other for the left side.

Finally, the invention aims to make it possible to produce a loom comprising means for adjusting the connections established between the aforementioned assemblies and their actuating devices, in the direction of moving away from or bringing closer to the center of the trade in order to correspond to different fabric widths.

Similarly, the rope 41 passes through a pulley ± ± and is attached to a pulley 46. the pulleys and are supported by the upper cross member 12. in the usual way.

Each of the pulleys 44 and 46 is connected to a selvedge forming mechanism, which is placed one on the right of the loom, the other on the left. Given these mechanisms are similar, we will detail only one of the other, namely the one located on the right in Figure 1 and to which corresponds the pulley 44.

At the cross member 12 are fixed two front and rear supports ± ± and 51, similar to each other, ohaoun of them being cut from a horizontal strip 52. In these supports is mounted a shaft 53 on which is wedged pulley 44 (Figure 15), When pulley 44 rotates under the effect of dobby lever J, it drives shaft 53 with it.

The shaft is rotated in bearings 54 and 55 (figure 2) fixed in an adjustable position in the slots 52 of the supports 50 and 51. As the mounting device in these supports is the same for both of them, except as regards the orientation, we will only describe what concerns the support 50. The left side of the loom in FIG. 1 is equipped with supports similar to the supports 50 and 51 and therefore the description of the support 50 will be suitable for the soft dimensions of this trade and for the rear supports 51, it being noted that the pulleys 44 and 46 are disposed against the interior supports 50.

As shown in figures 12 and 14-16, bearing 54

The shaft U carries, in addition to the pulley, chain wheels il and ii which, like this pulley, are wedged on it by locking screws 65, as shown in figure 15. The bearing has a bearing 66 in which turns the shaft 53.

The light 52 also receives a second bearing (Figure 16) comprising a threaded body 71 on which is screwed

The he and he threads have been lifted and the resulting tension tends to urge them downward to a middle position. These files therefore remain

tops of the two plates and the wire !! left in their lower slits. But at this moment the plate 180 goes down (floche f, figure 19) at the same time as the plate 165.

The resistance to movement of the plate 180, due to the frictional effect provided by the spring 185, to some extent compensates for the slack which might otherwise appear in the wires 23 and 24 which therefore remain taut.

When the pieces reach the position shown in Fig. 20, the lower thread 24, which is still in the left end of the slots 173,! It suddenly crosses the space 153 and then lies behind the. needle 151 when the pieces arrive at the position of figure 21. As the downward movement of the plates 165 and 180 continues, it is the thread 23 which in turn crosses the space 153 to be in front of this needle 151 when one arrives at the position of figure 22. In this last figure the lines and 24 are situated relative to the needle 151 at positions opposite to those occupied in figure 19.

The series of sectional views of figures and 10, which correspond to plane 8-8 of figure 5, shows the detail of the position of the parts in some of figures 17 to 22.

Figure 8 shows the parts as they appear in Figure 17, the threads 23 and 24 being respectively to the left and to the right of the needle 150. Figure 9 corresponds to Figure 19, the threads 23 and 24 still being in the same position relative to the needle 150, but having been moved behind the latter by the ends of the plates 165 and 180 to be brought to the position which they will occupy a moment later in FIG. 10 in front of the needles.

However the? selvage threads 11 i1 can Besides actuated in a different way from that of the normal chain tilt, as shown in the right part of figure 13 * As this figure indicates it by way of example, the

 EMI19.3
during which the shuttle deposits the picks .8 |, lu # and 2µSL The purpose of crossing the selvedge lines on more than one pick t as shown in figure 1 J. is to reduce the impediment of the finished selvedge .

Operation of the selvage mechanism can occur on all strokes of the loom, every third stroke, or in combinations of one, two, three or more strokes, if desired. It is obviously not necessary to include all the possible variants here since they would be similar to the two representations.

As described, the loom is equipped to make an edge on each of the edges of the fabric * It

As shown in the description which pr6o'd..l'1nvtn- tion makes it possible to establish a very simple mechanism with a view to making a selvedge on U '/ 1 1kÓt: 1st to weave, a single lifting lever or the like sufficient to move in direction

 <Desc / Clms Page number 20>

reverses two devices which cause the interplay of crossed and uncrossed warp threads in order to achieve a tight selvage with the successive picks of the fabric.

It will also be noted that the invention provides an assembly incorporating the two devices and that this assembly is symmetrical with respect to a transverse axis, so that by reversing one of these assemblies, both sides can be fitted. of the trade, the sets thus reversed functioning as if they had been provided for right and left. It will also be understood that the oblique slots in the sliding / control plate 165 allow the selvage warp yarns 23 and 24 to remain parallel when they arrive at the sliding plate 180, which eliminates any lateral stress which would otherwise cause a collapse. additional frictional resistance to the displacement of this plate.

In this way, there is only one friction device opposing the movement of said plate 180, namely the leaf spring 185. The lever J and the spring can also be considered as an aoteration system in which the force comes essentially from the lever, the closed links which include the deflector can be considered on their side as the operating system.

Likewise the ends of the support have stops, namely the needle holders 140, which prevent the loss of the deflectors, $$
It must also be understood that the above description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention, which would not be departed from by replacing the details of execution described. by any other equivalent,
