<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"New building element with decorative effect".
This invention relates to a novel building element with a decorative effect forming, in time, an original means for fixing, respectively protection, decorative panels with a generally polychrome effect by transparency or tranelucidity, such as a stained glass window. for example.
This construction element is characteristic in that it is substantially constituted by the combination of two transparent element in the shape of an opening, generally of the same shape and dimensions,
whose hollows are mutually opposite and between the adjacent edges of which are firmly fixed the marginal edges of the stained-glass window * Transparent elements in the form of a bowl or co-

keel will generally be made of glass or transparent plastic and will generally present a * prismatic shape, the assembly being able to appear in the form of a slab, a panel or any other construction element of shape and dimensions traditional or other @ *
By stained glass,
it is necessary to understand any generally unspecified composition, employing fragments of transparent and / or translucent material, generally polychrome, and assembled in one or more planes by any suitable means.
Preferably, stained glass windows of the very particular type forming the subject of Belgian patent N 646,744 by the same Applicant will be applied.
In a very particular embodiment and forming an element of the present invention, said stained glass window is preferably conditioned in such a way that it is, on its edges, lined with a thickness of a resistance material. , generally of metal, by which said window will be firmly immovable and fixed between the adjacent edges of said transparent hollow elements.
In general, the construction element according to the invention will therefore take the form of a high-resistance box, all or some of the walls * of which are transparent and inside which, generally parallel to the faces front @ and / or dorsals of said box, is fixed a stained glass window or any other panel or composition comprising transparent or translucent elements, that is to say in general, elements whose decorative effect is determined by the incidence of light rays passing through the transparent walls.
of said caissons
The connection between the two cuvettes or shells constituting @ the box and the intermediate window may
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
be done by any known means such as gluing, shrinking, crimping, hooking, etc ...
The two boxes or shells with a transparent wall will generally be made of the same relatively colorless material, while dissimilarities can also be introduced into the shapes and composition of said box elements, on the sole condition that the said elementa hollow are conditioned so as to be able to form the box while fixing the stained glass.
It is therefore without any limiting nature that the executions are described below in detail with reference to the appended drawings in which% Figure 1 shows an exploded perspective view of the constituent parts of a decorative construction element according to the invention, Figure 2 shows in cross section the element of ,. Figure 1 assembled; Figures 5 and 4 show two slight variants of the execution according to Figure 2; Figures 5 and 6 show schematically, in cross section, two other embodiments.
In the exemplary embodiment of shown 1 and 2, a decorative construction element according to the invention is produced by two half-slabs 1-2 of the same shape and of ringed dimension made of a transparent material, generally of the same size. glass * These two half-slabs have, chaoune, the shape of a prismatic bowl externally decorated with a continuous rim or bead, respectively the !. the stained-glass window 1 has, on its four sides, a marginal edge forming a frame generally executed in a resistant material, generally in metal.

In fact, said marginal metal strip can be produced by an extension of the resistance structure of the stained glass window.
On the other hand, if we are dealing with any other type of stained glass window, it is possible, by any appropriate means, to secure such a continuous blade or not on the edges of the stained glass in order to be able to satisfy the dual function of setting elements. - wise and positioning.
The stained glass 5-6 is fixed between the two half-slabs 1-3,
2-4, by any suitable means known to be more generally by gluing. For this purpose, it can also be observed that the stained glass crimping and positioning devices. between the two transparent half-bloos can not only be produced in many forms, but they can also occupy different relative positions with respect to the stained glass. In the example of figures 1 and 2, this crimping and positioning means is produced by the curling frame 6, in the oourrenoe arranged in the median plane of the stained glass window.
By way of example, FIGS. 3 and 4 show a technically similar arrangement, but in which the frame 6 forming said means for crimping and positioning the window 5, and arranged in an external plane by compared to the average plane of the stained glass window. Compared to 1 & visible face of the bloo, in the oourrenoe shown at 1 ', the plane of said frame 6 can be placed either downstream (Figure 3) or upstream (Figure 4) relative to the stained glass 5.
In these executions, the means of securing between the frame and the window is essentially variable and can

Any "liver, as echematied in Figure 3, we could also achieve such decorative construction elements using different half-slabs for example if we want to create ,. particular effects by reducing the free space adpartht, the stained-glass window at the bottom of one of the deai-dalleus A telloodeu. tion is ochematinde in figure 3 in which law two

Also, the two half-slabs 1- could present, in section, not only differences in dimensions but also differences in shape.
