<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"LID FOR CONTAINER AS IN BOX OR SIMILAR."
The invention relates to a cover for a container, for example, boots or the like, generally made of synthetic material. This cover has a surface
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
seal which penetrates into the opening of the container and a flange which rests on the edge of the container.
In many cases, it is desired to achieve perfect integrity of the containers fitted with such a cover, in order to prevent the flow of the contents during storage or transport. Attempts have been made to satisfy this requirement by providing a very rigid cover seat in order to ensure the required etanoheity even in the face of inevitable temperature fluctuations.
The disadvantage of this type of container lies in the fact that in most cases, the cover cannot be removed without using an instrument and, on the other hand, it cannot be replaced on the container. In another method; after fitting the cover, a sheet of synthetic material is reopened over the opening of the container, this sheet is sealed at the edge of the opening, for example, by welding. Such a closing process does not ensure the sealing of the container only until the moment of destruction of the synthetic material sheet, that is to say until the first use of the container, after which it is no longer possible to ensure the etanoheity.
If one does not wish to use this extremely rigid seat, nor the sheet of synthetic material, it will be necessary to ensure that the expansion coefficients of the container and the cover are roughly identical, which in many cases will pose the difficult problem of choice of materials to use *
All these downside. can however be easily eliminated * if.
as proposed by the invention, provision is made, in a closure mode of the type described above, between the inner surface of etanoheity and the outer surface which surrounds
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
object, a distance which corresponds approximately to the wall thickness of the rim of the container, taking into account the shrinkage, especially of the cover, which may occur at its location, so that, anyway, one of the two surfaces of etanoheity to the monk will be effioaoe.
Other features and advantages of the invention will be described with reference to the various embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 shows an oouver according to the invention, partially in section and partially in latrle view.
Fig. 2 shows a plan view of this cover.
Fig 3 represents, on a larger scale, a section showing the etanoheity between the oouverole and the inner edge of the container.
Fig. 4 shows on the same scale as FIG. 3, a section showing the etanoheity between the oouver and the outer edge of the container, according to another variant embodiment.
Fig. 5 shows the scale of FIG. 3, in section, a detail of another variant embodiment of the cover according to FIG. 1.
The oouverole oomporte a plate 1 with an edge 2 and a rim 3 fixed to the side opposite the plate. In this rim 3 there is provided a groove 4 over the entire periphery, the wall of this groove rests continuously on the outer surface. The width of the groove is determined by the thickness of the vessel wall and by the shrinkage, especially of the cover, which may occur there.
Since the width of the groove is greater than the thickness of the wall of the container, the cover will generally only rest on one side of the groove. Admitting
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
that the cover presses on the wall of the container by the wall of the groove which forms its upper part, when the temperature rises the oouverole ee expands and will press the outer wall of the edge against the inner o8té of the réoipient.
Conversely, ei the outer side of the edge of the cover rests on the inner wall of the container, when the temperature of the cover is lowered, oelui-oi retracts and the other wall of the groove will rest on the edge. outside of the container.
The cover may be provided, on the side of the edge opposite the tray, with a reinforcing ring 5 of trapezoidal section for example.
Another variant embodiment of a cover constructed according to the invention has an oiroulaire groove 6 on the rim on the side opposite the plate. This groove provides a flexible connection of the cover with the rim and allows a rocking movement of the rim having an external sealing surface with respect to the edge of the cover and thus allows a false lifting of the cover.
