<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

MANURE PIT PUMPING PLANT.
The present invention relates to a pumping installation for a slurry pit,
In the manure pit, a spontaneous fermentation develops which activates the separation of the elements by density and when emptying there is in the bottom of the sludge (A-fig. 1) above a liquid (B-fig. 1) on which a crust floats (C-fig. 1).
Experience has shown that in such a state of affairs, simple pumping is insufficient to obtain a drain.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
complete the pit.
This is due in particular to the fact that the currently existing pumps rest by a support on the bottom of the tank and that the straws sucked up!) 'By the pump come to collect on the feet of this support; at a certain moment these straws come off and clog the pump.
1.'invention aims to remedy this drawback; and it consists in providing means allowing vigorous stirring capable of making the whole @ of the contents homogeneous before emptying by means of a pump driven brilliantly by a tractor engine. '
In the practical embodiment of the invention, the pump is suspended by a column which is coupled to a control device and in general to a speed multiplier by a rotating joint so as to allow the entire pump to rotate for example. about 320.
To this suspension column is connected a delivery column in such a way that it can be driven in the rotational movement of the suspension column and that thanks to the taps provided on the delivery column a jets of liquid can be directed. over the entire area of the pit.
The invention also relates to a pump which is distinguished in that it comprises a body provided with an outlet pipe to which is connected a valve provided on the delivery column and in that in this body can , turn a wheel provided with curved vanes connected to a central hub as well as to a frustoconical veil while downwards, the body of the pump represents, on the side of the suction inlet, an inclination usually of 20 approximately relative to the horizontal and that: this inclined part carries counter-blades disposed radially and in front of which the fins pass, acting as chopping knives.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The assembly proposed according to the invention allows the work of mixing and chopping the straws prior to emptying to be carried out perfectly, with the pump itself.
In order to make the invention clearly understood, a complete nonlimiting example of an embodiment thereof will be described below, with reference to the drawings in which:
Figure 1 is an explanatory view.
FIG. 2 is an elevational view showing the entire installation.
Figures 3, 4 and 5 show the valves provided on the delivery column in different positions.
Figure 6 is a sectional plan showing the pump with its counter blades.
Figure 7 is a detail view of the paddle wheel.
On the attached drawings, there is shown in 1 the upper part and in 2 the bottom of the pit or cistern and in 3 a pump whose particularities will be described below and which is suspended by a column 4 from a support 5 connected to the upper part 1 and in which the column can turn. The column 4 which contains the shaft 6 of the pump is coupled to a gearbox 7 of the speed multiplier by a rotating joint 8,
The entire pump can thus rotate through an angle of 320.
A delivery column 9 is connected to column 4, which for this purpose carries above the ground a collar 10 connected by a plate 11 to a collar 12 carried by column 4.
The column 4 can thus drive the delivery column 9 in its rotational movement so that it is possible to direct jets coming out of taps 13 and 14 which are provided on the delivery column and will be described below. over the entire area of the pit.
This operation can be performed during operation.

the pump, -
15 shows the tractor power supply shaft, 16 an anti-torque bar, 17 the lever for operating the rotation of the delivery column and 18 a spherical seat connection. ,
The pump 3 comprises a body 19 (volute) provided with an outlet pipe 20 to which is directly connected, the valve 13 forming part of the delivery column 9.
In the body 19 rotates a wheel 21 fixed to the shaft 6 and provided with fins 22 connected to a central hub 23 as well as to a frustoconical web 24; these fins 22 are made non-radial maia with a curvature as shown in Figure 7. @
Downwards the body of the pump has on the side of the suction inlet 25 an inclination of about 20 with respect to the horizontal (reference 251),
This inclined part carries counter-blades 26 which are arranged radially and in front of which the fins 22 of the wheel 21 pass, acting as knives,
This construction gives the pump a chopper quality.
As already stated, on the column 9 are provided two valves 13-14 which each comprise a cylindrical body 27 in which a segment 28 rotates controlled by an axis 29 and which can close either the column itself or an outlet orifice. 30.
To each of the axes 29 is connected a lever 31 connected to rods 32 which can be operated by control levers 33.
As can easily be understood, in the bevel wheel 21, the water is rotated rapidly and by the effect of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
centrifugal force it is driven into column 9. This centrifugal force acts perpendicular to the axis of rotation (arrows F); the water is therefore launched against the inclined wall 251 which carries the counter-blades 26. This arrangement has two advantages; that of forcing the suspended matter, of passing through the blades and the counter-blades and that of preventing the counter-current towards the suction which exists in the existing pumps.
In such equipment, it is important to be able to moderate the pump flow rate at will at the end of filling the portable tanks day to ensure complete filling without overflowing,
To this end, part of the flow can be diverted through one of the mixing valves 13-14 to the outlets 30 and this by rotating the segments 28 under the control of the levers 33.
This flow can thus be controlled perfectly without throttling the pump.
In addition, in such an installation, the lower supports of the pump are omitted and the suction opening is completely free and unobstructed.
