<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

having as object: Machine for wrapping spinning tubes.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention relates to a machine for wrapping conical tubes used in spinning *
In the textile industry, great use is made of conical cardboard tubes in order to wind the threads in the form of coils of varying size; given that these tubes arranged in bulk orient themselves at random, they occupy a very large volume, which constitutes a drawback during storage and during transport; moreover, at the time of use it is necessary for ease of handling, to offer the tubes all oriented in the same way *
For these reasons, the conical tubes are encannetés, that is to say, fit into each other so as to constitute canes of a certain length.
Currently, the casing of conical spinning tubes is carried out using machines which include a slide on which the tubes brought one by one and directed similarly and oriented with their large base on the same side, undergo the thrust of 'a pusher which always makes them penetrate one by one into the encannetage supports and one into the other until they form a rod of a given length, after which the supports are moved apart in order to release the rod which is then collected.
In a machine of this kind it is therefore necessary to subject the tubes to manipulations to orient them all in the same way, that is to say so that they all arrive with their large base on the same side *
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The present invention relates to a wrapping machine of this type characterized by comprising means of automatic feeding of the correct tube slideway directed and orientated from a feeding tray in which the tubes are deposited in bulk and directed and oriented at random,
According to one characteristic, the automatic feed means of the slide comprise, from a feed tray,
a means of extracting and similarly aligning the tubes oriented at random in the feed tank, a means of transporting the extracted tubes, parallel, but oriented at random, a means of collecting the parallel tubes brought by the means of transport, a means of gripping and transporting one by one out of the collector of similarly directed tubes, a means of detecting the large base of the tubes extracted from the collector, a means of orienting the tubes having passed under the detection means in order to possibly tilt them to orient all the tubes in the same way, a means for bringing the oriented tubes into a waiting housing, a means of flow of the tubes out of the waiting housing to make them pass one by one through the slicer slide.
According to another particular feature, the means for extracting and aligning the tubes is an endless band with an upper carrying strand, arranged in a slight rise and placed at the bottom of a tank which may be of inverted tetrahedral shape, in which case the band is located along an edge; the tubes extracted and arranged in a parallel fashion then fall on a means of transport consisting of an endless belt leading them to a parullelipipedic collector where they are stored horizontally while remaining parallel and from which they are carried one by one by one means gripper which is a claw transporter
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the more or less vertical carrying strand of which passes a short distance from a neck allowing the tubes to exit horizontally out of the manifold.
According to another characteristic, each tube transported by the claw conveyor passes under the detection means consisting of two feelers placed one near each end of the tube and located near the end of the upward path of said claw conveyor and controlling the tube orientation means which is a stop located at the start of the downward path of said carrier and which can be moved by the action of an electromagnet, the supply circuit of which is closed by a feeler and maintained opened by the other probe.
Another particularity consists in carrying by a trans - @ carrier with downward carrying strand, the tubes correctly oriented to a waiting housing from where a valve makes them pass one by one on the slide from where a pusher formed by a finger carried by an endless chain pushes them one into the other 1 in the wrapping supports.
Other features may appear in the following description of the appended drawings which relate to an embodiment of a machine according to the invention shown by way of illustration only.
In these drawings:
Figures 1A and 1B are schematic side elevational views respectively of the left and right parts of a machine according to the invention.
Figures 2A and 2B are schematic plan views of the parts shown in Figures 1A and 1B respectively.
Figures 3, 4 and 5 are partial views respectively along III-III, IV-IV and V-V of Figure 1A.
The considered machine includes a feed tray 1
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
which is tetrahedral in shape.The tubes to be wrapped which are thrown in bulk into this tank are extracted from the latter and aligned by an extraction and alignment means consisting of an endless strip 2, the carrying strand 2a of which runs through roughly along a slightly rising ridge. This strip 2 passes over two rollers 3a, 3b; the latter is a motor because it is driven by a flexible transmission 4a from a small motor 4. The latter also actuates in a back and forth movement an arm attached to a connecting rod 1b of a beak lc pivoting alternately in one direction then in the other relative to the tank l. By entering 'in a slot ld this nozzle destroys the piles of tubes in the tank 1.
A tensioner 5 is provided to tension the strip 2 which carries the pallets 2b from distance to distance. When the strip advances according to the arrow X each pallet 2b drives upwards a small number of tubes, generally two or three; the tubes carried by the pallets are aligned according to the direction of advance of the strip which carries them and they are launched on an endless belt conveyor 6 located slightly lower than the upper end of the belt 2. The belt 6a of the conveyor 6 passes over rollers 6b and 6c, between side walls 7; the roller 6b is fed by the transmission 8 from engine 9.
The conveyor 6 brings the horizontally aligned but randomly oriented tubes into a collector 10 of parallelepiped shape in which they are arranged horizontally next to each other. The tubes always exit, placed horizontally and oriented at random, through a chute 11 (figure 4) whose outlet orifice 11a is located near an endless belt conveyor 12 installed between rollers 12b and 12c so that the carrying strand 12a travels upwards following an approximately vertical path.
This conveyor 12 comprises two series of claws 13 placed at intervals along two parallel rows so that the claws correspond horizontally two by two to constitute gripping supports for the tubes.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
horizontally coming out of the collector 10. The roller 12b of the conveyor 12 is driven by a chain 14a stretched by a roller 14b and passing over a toothed wheel 14c mounted on a shaft 15 driven by. a motor 16 via a belt and pulley transmission 17.
The tubes are carried one by one by the claw conveyor 12 following an upward path in a similar fashion, for example, to the tubes 18 and 19. Towards the end of the upward path, each tube passes under two feelers, 20 and 21, arranged at the same level, one near each end of the tubes.
When a tube such as 18 passes under the probes 20 and 21, it actuates the probe 20 by its large base, while the probe 21 remains inactive. The feeler 20 controls the closing of the supply circuit of an electromagnet 22 which, against the inaction of a spring 23, attracts an orientation stop, movable, 24, the end of which is placed transversely in the path that must follow the tube starting to fall as soon as it has passed the high point of the conveyor; in this way, the tube falls on the stopper which causes it to tumble so that it presents itself with the small base forward on a conveyor belt 25 whose carrying strand 25a is descending. This conveyor is driven by the shaft 25b which is driven by the motor 9 by a transmission 26.
If a tube such as 19 passes under the probes 20 and 21, its large base located on the right only actuates the right probe 21 which, by an electrical circuit not shown, keeps the supply circuit of the electromagnet 22 open. ; as the latter is therefore not supplied, the orientation stop 24 does not move and the tube falls freely with its small base forward on the conveyor 25 housed in a chamber 25c.
All the tubes are thus successively oriented in the same way, for example the small base towards the front, and are led by the conveyor 25 to a waiting housing 27 where they
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
are retained by a valve 28.
This housing 27 which comprises an inclined support plate 29 carrying a stopper 30, is placed near a slide 31 on which the tubes are all presented with the small base forward and one by one; the flow rate of the tubes leaving the housing 27 is regulated by the valve 28, the opening of which is controlled by a linkage 32 actuated by a cam 32a mounted on the shaft 15 driven by the motor 16.
Along the slide 31 moves an endless chain 33 set in motion by the motor 16 by a transmission not shown; on this chain are fixed pusher fingers 34 which push the tube located on the slide 31 in casing supports 35, formed by two irons similar to angles, placed to form a housing between them and fixed to the ends of the pairs of arms 37 articulated in scissors; these arms 37 are carried by a rod 37a integral with the upright 37b fixed to the frame of the machine.
The tubes coming from the slide are thus pushed, one by one, one into the other until they form a rod which gradually grows until the anterior end ends up reaching a switch 36 placed at the end a rod 39 of adjustable length in order to be able to optionally vary the length of the rods formed * This switch 36 which prepares the opening of the supports 35 is placed in the supply circuit of an electromagnet 38 which is supplied only when a second switch 40 is actuated in synchronism with the pushers 34 by a cam 41 on the shaft 15; the electromagnet 38 then acts to move aside the wrapping supports 35 and the rod falls onto a conveyor not shown leading it to the packaging or directly into a crate.
