<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Improvement in bread slicers"
The present invention relates to bread slicers and relates to an improvement in the system of the movable frame constituting the bread pusher.
It is known that the bread slicers in use today are provided with a movable frame intended for
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
. serve as a bread pusher to bring the sliced bread out of the appropriate knives. It is also known that it is practically impossible to cut bread into slices with such a machine when the bread is too fresh. This is a particularly unpleasant inconvenience, for example, for bakers who, going on a delivery round early in the day, have to take cut bread with them.
A bread slicer is already known, in which the bread pusher device is provided with a system for manually adjusting the thrust on the breads. In this commue slicer, the adjustment system consists in modifying the tension of a torsion spring mounted on the control shaft of the mobile frame or bread pusher.
This known adjustment system has various drawbacks. The tension on the springs very often causes them to break and their replacement is quite difficult because of their location. On the other hand, the operating lever of this device is placed on the front face of the machine, a face which is often placed in an inaccessible manner in most bakeries.
To remedy these drawbacks, it is proposed according to the invention to create a bread tra @ encuse of the type in which the bread pusher is provided with a manual adjustment system of the thrust on the breads, characterized in that the Thrust adjustment is controlled by the tension given to a tension spring acting on the control shaft of the bread pusher.
According to the invention, the action of the tension spring is transmitted to the control shaft of the bread pusher by means of a chain wound on a sector wedged on said control shaft.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Still according to the invention, the tension is given to the tension spring by the tilting of a pivoting lever, the position of which is adjusted by a cam controlled by an operating handle.
To better understand the invention, it is described below on the basis of the accompanying schematic drawing, by way of example only, showing the mechanism of the adjustment system at the moment when the tension spring is going to act for cause the push of the bread pusher.
On the frame of the slicer and below the worktable is mounted the transverse control shaft 1 of the bread pusher. The rotation of this control shaft 2 is controlled in one direction by the hand lever 2, arranged outside and laterally to the machine, and in the other direction by the tension spring of the thrust adjustment system on the machine. the breads, acting through said shaft on the linkage system 3 of the bread pusher to give it a forward movement.
In order to be able to adjust the pressure of the bread pusher on the bread to be sliced, which is important when the bread is very fresh, provision is made to wedge on the control shaft 1 a toothed sector 4, on which a chain is wound. 5, one end 5 'of which is fixed to said sector and the other 5 "end of which is connected to the tension spring 6. This tension spring 6 is also hooked to the end 7' of a lever 7 capable of pivoting at 8 in a stirrup 9 integral with the frame B under the action of a cam 10 acting on its head 7 ". Cam 10 is rotated by means of an operating handle 11, applied externally to the rear face, and therefore always accessible, of the slicer.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
It is easily understood that, depending on the position given by the handle 11 to the cam 10, the traction spring 6 has been more or less stretched by the pivoting of the lever 2 pushed forward as shown in the drawing. When said lever 2 is released, the tension spring 6, resuming its normal relaxed state, pulls on the chain 5 and turns the sector 4 and with it the control shaft 1, so as to push the linkages 3 forward. bread pusher and consequently the bread pusher.
Depending on whether the bread to be sliced is not too fresh, the handle 11 and consequently the cam 10 are arranged as shown in the drawing, such that the tension given to said tension spring 6 by the pivoting of the lever 2 is maximum, but on the other hand, if the bread to be sliced is very fresh and cannot be easily cut into slices, the handle 11 and consequently the cam 10 will be given a position such that the tension given to said tension spring by the pivoting of said lever 2. is weak, the push of the bread pusher on the bread to be sliced being therefore lighter.
Since the tension of the tension spring 6 is adjusted by the cam 10, which can take a whole series of positions, the push of the bread pusher on the bread to be sliced can take on very different values from one time to the next. other.
In the event that the tension spring breaks under the force, it can be very easily replaced even without the help of a mechanic since this does not require any disassembly.
