Abstract
"PROCESSO DE OTIMIZAçãO DO FUNCIONAMENTO DE UM FORNO ELéTRICO DO TIPO A ARCO SUBMERSO". Apresenta-se um processo de otimização do funcionamento de um forno elétrico (10) do tipo a arco submerso, para a produção de metal líquido. O forno elétrico compreende pelo menos um eletrodo (18) e contém um banho de metal líquido (12), recoberto de uma espessa camada de escória líquida (16), que tem uma massa superficial de pelo menos 1 t/m^ 2^. Faz-se espumar a camada de escória localmente ao redor do dito pelo menos um eletrodo (18), de maneira a criar ao redor desse eletrodo (18) uma camada local de escória espumante (20), na qual a densidade da escória é pelo menos 50% mais baixa do que no resto do forno.
