Abstract
"ATIVAçãO TERAPêUTICA CATALISADA POR ENZIMA". A presente invenção refere-se a novos compostos de substrato que inibem seletivamente a proliferação de células patológicas, por exemplo, células patológicas que superexpressam endogenamente uma enzima alvo que confere resistência a agentes biológicos e quimioterapêuticos. A enzima age em um composto de substrato para 1) convertê-lo em uma toxina celular e/ou 2) liberar um subproduto tóxico. Em uma concretização, a atividade da enzima alvo foi grandemente melhorada em uma célula alvo como resultado de perda de seleção e/ou função supressora de tumor resultante da prévia exposição à quimioterapia. Em uma outra concretização, a célula patológica contém uma enzima alvo que é um produto de expressão de um agente infeccioso na célula. é ainda provido pela presente invenção um método para tratar um indivíduo por liberação ao indivíduo de uma pródroga como descrita acima. As pró-drogas da presente invenção podem ser usadas sozinhas ou em combinação com outros agentes quimioterapêuticos ou terapias anticâncer alternativas tais como radiação.
