Abstract
"CéLULA ELETROQUìMICA E MéTODO PARA REDUçãO ELETROQUìMICA DE UM óXIDO METáLICO". A presente invenção refere-se a uma célula para redução eletroquímica de um óxido metálico em um estado sólido. A célula inclui um eletrólito fundido (14), um anodo (10) formado a partir de carbono em contato com o eletrólito (14), um catodo (20) formado pelo menos em parte por um óxido metálico em contato com o eletrólito (14), e uma membrana (28) que é permeável a ânions de oxigênio e é impermeável ao carbono nas formas iónicas e não iónicas, sendo a membrana (28) posicionada entre o catodo (20) e o anodo (10) de modo a evitar a migração de carbono do anodo para o catodo. A membrana (28) inclui um corpo (32) e um forro (34) na superfície do corpo no lado do catodo da membrana. O forro (34) é formado a partir de um material que é inerte com relação ao metal dissolvido no eletrólito (14) e impermeável ao metal dissolvido. é também proporcionado um método eletroquímico baseado na célula.
