Abstract
"MéTODO PARA PRODUZIR GLICOL". Esta invenção relaciona-se a um método para produzir glicóis. Tal método é particularmente útil para preparar etileno glicol a partir de óxido de etileno e água. O método desta invenção é uma combinação sinérgica do processo de evaporação, absorção, e reação, combinado para acentuar reações de rendimentos para reações de epóxidos com compostos contendo grupos funcionais de hidroxila. Tal método compreende produzir glicol em um reator de coluna de evaporação, como segue: (a) alimentar um composto de hidroxi ao reator; (b) alimentar um epóxido ao reator, de tal modo que o composto de epóxido seja contactado com o composto de hidroxila em uma zona de reação, sob condições tais que substancialmente todo o epóxido reaja para formar um produto compreendendo um glicol dissolvido em composto de hidroxila líquido; (c) remover a mistura de composto de hidroxila líquido e glicol dissolvido para longe da zona de reação; e (d) aquecer a mistura de composto de hidroxila líquido e glicol dissolvido, de tal modo que pelo menos parte do composto de hidroxila seja removido do glicol, por evaporação; e (e) condensar e refluxar o composto de hidroxila evaporado e combinar o mesmo com o composto de hidroxila da Etapa (a). Em um aspecto da invenção a alimentação de epóxido descrita na Etapa (b) penetra no reator através de pelo menos duas passagens distintas dentro do reator. Em outro aspecto desta invenção, o método é realizado sinergicamente em pelo menos duas colunas de evaporação seq³enciais que formam, em conjunto, um reator de coluna de evaporação de efeitos múltiplos.
