Abstract

"MéTODO DE DESTRUIçãO DE BACTéRIAS EM áREA DE TRATAMENTO DO PACIENTE E RESPECTIVA COMPOSIçãO TERAPêUTICA FOTODINáMICA ANTIMICROBIANA". é revelado um método e composição para destruição de micróbios, especialmente bactérias, no corpo, utilizando Safranina O em conjunção com radiação eletromagnética. Num método preferido, uma composição compreendendo Safranina O é introduzida numa área de tratamento. Após ter passado um período de tempo suficiente, é aplicada radiação de um comprimento de onda adequado na área para ativar a Safranina O e, por uma reação fotodinâmica, destruir as bactérias. A radiação preferida tem um comprimento de onda em torno de 530 nm. Este método é efetivo para a destruição tanto de bactérias Gram-positivas como de Gram-negativas e é particularmente efetivo em áreas onde estão presentes meios complexos, tais como soro sangüíneo, sangue ou saliva.
