Abstract
"COMPOSIçãO DE GEL DE SìLICA/METAL DO GRUPO I, MéTODOS PARA PREPARAR A MESMA, E PARA PRODUZIR GáS HIDROGêNIO, REDUçãO DE BIRCH DE UM COMPOSTO AROMáTICO NA PRESENçA DE UM METAL ALCALINO, REAçãO DE DESALOGENAçãO E REAçãO DE WURTZ DE UM COMPOSTO ORGáNICO HALOGENADO NA PRESENçA DE METAL ALCALINO, E, REAçãO DE DESSULFURIZAçãO DE UM COMPOSTO ORGáNICO CONTENDO UMA LIGAçãO SULFETO NA PRESENçA DE METAL ALCALINO". A invenção refere-se a composições de metal do Grupo I/sílica compreendendo gel de sílica e um metal alcalino ou uma liga de metal alcalino. As composições da invenção são descritas como materiais de estágio 0, I, II e III. Estes materiais diferem em sua preparação e reatividade química. Cada estágio sucessivo pode ser preparado diretamente usando os métodos descritos abaixo ou de um material de estágio anterior. Os materiais de estágio O podem, por exemplo, ser preparados usando ligas líquidas de Na e K que são rapidamente absorvidas por gel de sílica (SiO2 poroso) sob condições isotérmicas, preferivelmente em ou apenas acima da temperatura ambiente, para formar pós pretos soltos que retém a maior parte da capacidade de redução dos metais parentais. Quando os metais do Grupo I de baixo ponto de fusão são absorvidos no gel de sílica, uma reação exotérmica suave produz material de estágio I, pós pretos soltos que são indefinidamente estáveis em ar seco. Subseqüente, aquecimento a 400<198>C produz materiais de estágio II, que são também pós pretos soltos. Outro aquecimento acima de 400<198>C foram material de estágio III com liberação de algum metal do Grupo I. Acredita-se que os materiais de estágio I, II e III representam reduções do gel de sílica após absorção do metal do Grupo I. As composições de gel de silica/metal do Grupo I da invenção são as contendo sódio, potássio ou ligas sódio-potássio com sódio e ligas de sódio-potássio sendo mais preferidos. Cada estágio da composição de gel de silica/metal do Giupo I da invenção pode ser usado como um agente redutor reagindo com um número de materiais orgânicos redutíveis no mesmo modo conhecido para metais alcalinos e suas ligas.
