Abstract
PROCESSO PARA LIXIVIAR MINéRIOS DE LATERITA CONTENDO LIMONITA E SAPROLITA Um processo para lixiviar minérios de laterita contendo limonita e saprolita. Suficiente ácido mineral é adicionado a uma pasta de limonita que é lixiviada a pressão atmosférica para dissolver a maioria dos metais não ferrosos solúveis e ferro solúvel. Após adicionar saprolita a pasta é adicionalmente lixiviada a uma temperatura acima do ponto de ebulição normal e a uma pressão acima da pressão atmosférica por um período suficiente para lixiviar a maior parte do níquel contido no saprolita e para precipitar a maior parte do ferro na solução. A pressão da pasta é então reduzida e níquel e/ou cobalto são subseqüentemente recuperados da solução de lixiviação por extração com solvente, resina em polpa ou outra troca iónica, precipitação com sulfeto ou hidróxido, ou outro método de recuperação.
