Abstract

CERTAS PLANTAS COM NìVEIS "NãO SATURADOS" OU REDUZIDOS DE áCIDOS GRAXOS NAS SEMENTES E óLEO DERIVADO DAS SEMENTES. A presente invenção fornece óleo de canola "não saturado". A presente invenção fornece ainda sementes que podem ser utilizadas para produzir tais óleos. As plantas que produzem estas sementes também estão incluídas dentro da presente invenção. Tudo isso foi surpreendentemente conseguido através da utilização de um gene da delta-9 dessaturase na canola. Esta tecnologia pode ser aplicada a outras plantas como divulgado aqui. Os óleos da presente invenção possuem características particularmente vantajosas e perfis de ácidos graxos, que não tinham sido atingidos até agora. A presente invenção fornece ainda adicionalmente um gene da delta-9 dessaturase otimizado para plantas. Em algumas modalidades preferidas, uma planta preferida compreende pelo menos duas cópias de um gene da delta-9 dessaturase da presente invenção.
