Abstract
PROCESSO PARA A PRODUçãO DE óXIDO DE MAGNéSIO. Um processo para a recuperação de óxido de magnésio de uma fonte que contém sais de magnésio, o referido processo incluindo as etapas de: (a) adicionar um dióxido de enxofre e álcali à fonte que contém sais de magnésio, em uma etapa de lixívia para formar um lixiviado contendo bisulfito de magnésio; (b) separar os materiais insolúveis do lixiviado; (c) extrair o excesso de diáxido de enxofre do lixiviado e precipitar o magnésio como hidrato de sulfito de magnésio sólido; (d) separar o hidrato de sulfito de magnésio sólido do lixiviado esgotado de magnésio; e (e) calcinar o hidrato de sulfito de magnésio sólido e recuperar o magnésio como óxido de magnésio.
