Abstract
Amplificateur à fibre optique (50), comprenant une fibre optique monomode de SiO2-Al2O3-GeO2 (52) dopée à l'Er3+. Il est pompé par des sources optiques de 1,55 µm et 1,47 µm (54 et 56) dont les sorties optiques sont combinées par un coupleur optique (58), puis transmises à la fibre (52) par un deuxième coupleur optique (50). Une source de signaux optiques à amplifier (62) est également couplée à la fibre (52) par l'autre coupleur (60). Les ions Er3+ produisent un schéma d'émission laser à trois niveaux présentant une crête de fluorescence à environ 1,53 µm. L'amplification à faible bruit de signaux optiques dans la queue de grande longueur d'onde du spectre de fluorescence, avec suppression des ASE (émissions spontanées amplifiées) dans la longueur d'onde de crête des spectres de fluorescence, s'obtient comme suit. La pompe 1,47 µm produit une amplification à faible bruit du signal optique mais amplifie de préférence la source de pompage 155 µm. Le signal de pompage amplifié 1,55 µm fournit ensuite la puissance de pompage pour l'amplification du signal optique tout en supprimant les ASE, étant donné que sa longueur d'onde est supérieure à celle de la crête de fluorescence.
