Abstract
Un appareil et un outil de fond améliorés pour limiter l'extrusion d'une garniture d'étanchéité. L'appareil inclut un mandrin muni d'une garniture d'étanchéité. Des sabots de retenue de garniture d'étanchéité sont disposés autour du mandrin, aux extrémités de la garniture d'étanchéité. Les sabots de retenue de garniture d'étanchéité se composent d'un dispositif de retenue intérieur et d'un dispositif de retenue extérieur. Le dispositif de retenue intérieur comporte une pluralité de segments séparés par des espaces qui s'élargissent lorsque le sabot de retenue est déplacé de sa position initiale autour du mandrin à une position expansée dans laquelle il retient le boîtier pour limiter l'extrusion de la garniture d'étanchéité. Le dispositif de retenue extérieur comporte lui aussi une pluralité de segments séparés par des espaces extensibles. Les segments du dispositif de retenue intérieur recouvrent les espaces qui séparent les segments du dispositif de retenue extérieur et les segments du dispositif de retenue extérieur recouvrent les espaces qui séparent les segments du dispositif de retenue intérieur pour limiter l'extrusion. Les sabots de retenue fournissent un rendement amélioré à température élevée et sous une pression plus grande, les puits de forage à température et à pression élevées limitant de beaucoup sinon complètement l'extrusion.
