Abstract

Dans une installation de traitement des sables bitumineux où les sables bitumineux sont mélangés avec un solvant, de l'eau et de l'air afin d'obtenir une mousse de bitume, la séparation de la mousse en fractions riches en maltènes et en asphaltènes est améliorée de la manière suivante : en ajoutant graduellement un solvant paraffinique à la mousse; en séparant le mélange de mousse et de solvant dans un décanteur, pour obtenir une surverse riche en maltènes et en solvant paraffinique, et une sousverse étant riche en asphaltènes, en eau et en solides; en évacuant la surverse à partir de la portion supérieure du décanteur; en évacuant la sousverse à partir de la portion inférieure du décanteur.
