Abstract
Un spectromètre de masse comprend une source d'ions pour fournir des échantillons d'ions pour les analyses, un piège à ions linéaire, une lentille de déflexion et un analyseur de masse sous la forme d'un piège électrostatique. Le piège à ions linéaire s'étend entre une entrée à une extrémité servant à recevoir les échantillons d'ions et une sortie axialement opposée par laquelle les échantillons d'ions ressortent et se déplacent le long d'un premier axe. La lentille de déflexion est située en aval de la trajectoire des ions à partir du piège à ions linéaire et dévie les échantillons d'ions le long d'un deuxième axe décalé par rapport au premier. L'analyseur de masse sous forme de piège électrostatique est placé en aval de la lentille de déflexion pour effectuer une analyse de masse de l'échantillon d'ions. Les échantillons d'ions très énergisés ne peuvent pas se rendre du piège à ions linéaire à l'analyseur de masse sous forme de piège électrostatique.
