Abstract

Faisceau de fibres de carbone permettant d'obtenir un plastique renforcé de fibres présentant de grandes caractéristiques mécaniques. L'invention concerne un fil en acrylonitrile expansé prévu pour des fibres de carbone dotées d'ouvertures d'une largeur de 10 nm ou plus dans la direction circonférentielle de la fibre, selon un rapport variant de 0,3 à 2 ouvertures/µm2 sur la surface de ladite fibre. D'autre part, ladite fibre n'est pas traitée avec un agent de finition à l'huile. Une fibre de précurseur obtenue par le traitement de la fibre expansée à l'aide d'un agent de finition à l'huile à base de silicone a une teneur en silicone variant de 1 700 à 5 000 ppm et une teneur en silicone variant de 50 à 300 ppm une fois l'agent de finition à l'huile nettoyé avec du méthyléthylcétone, par le recours à un extracteur Soxhlet pendant 8 heures. La fibre est préférablement composée d'un copolymère acrylonitrile qui contient de 96,0 à 99,7 % en masse d'acrylonitrile et un hydrocarbure non saturé contenant au moins un groupe carboxyle ou un groupe ester dans une proportion variant de 0,3 à 4,0 % en masse.
